    This movie has Scotty Beckett (Scotty from some of the "Little Rascal" shorts). He later went on to play Winky in the "Rocky Jones" TV show. Sadly, he overdosed on barbituates and died in 1968.

      As a kid I remember Rocky Jones, and I thought it was great, lol. But I got curious about Scotty Beckett and went to imdB to read up on him and wow! I didn't know this kid had been in big time problem situations. Terribly sad he had the life that he created for himself, but I guess that's what happens sometimes.

      Party means party. Not necessisarily joyful. You can have 'boarding party', 'A party of morners' a party of just about any group coming together with a common interest. But yes. A party is often associated with a joyous celebration such as birthday party, or Christmas party.

    At 19:07, What was the transparent umbrella made of? I believe that that kind of plastic - the sort that would be used today for such a purpose, I mean - wasn't put into use, or even invented, in 1938. Oiled silk? Just curious...

      I noticed this too and went hunting.. this is what I found in regards to plastics "polystyrene in 1929, polyester in 1930, polyvinylchloride (PVC) and polythene in 1933, nylon in 1935"
      I'm going to guess it's probably polythene, which is the same stuff clear plastic bags are made of today like Ziploc bags and grocery bags..etc. Hope this helps :)
      Edit: I also just found a vintage umbrella on Ebay listed as Polythene and it says it's from 1936 :)

      @@Vexling Thanks - well done. Reckon you're right. I'd been remembering my own childhood in the fifties with hardly anything but bakelite light-switches and plugs. Now I come to think of it, though, there were also very basic polythene beakers, and later plastic see-through raincoats. Plastic bags came later. Of course, New York would have had such things well before our little country village in England.
      All the same, it's rare; I've never before seen such things in such early films.
      Always good to broaden one's knowledge and perspective.
      Cheers.

    I thought this was going to be about the republican party.

    • @MikeGreenwood51
      @MikeGreenwood51 2 года назад

      Is that because you associate the devil with repubicanism? That may be because you your self have had a bad experience with bad republicans. But it is an intersting idea that even republicans (policies by the people for the people) can some times have a policy by the people which can lead to disasterous consequences. But then would that be real Republican as if the policy led to disaster then was it really 'for the people'.
