    Natalie Moorhead and she lasts the whole movie. What a relief! Nice plot. I wish they could have expanded on it as the movie is too short. Thanks!

    Until a few months ago, the only thing I had seen Natalie Moorhead in was the Thin Man (1934). But, now I have seen her in a bunch of pre-code movies and she was good in all of them.

    All the naughty bits were removed (or the whole film banned) if a film was re-issued after the code. Since this print is from 1949 we can be sure that it is not pre-code any more.

    Like almost all vids here the audio just plane sucks if you record something for you tube PLEASE pay attention to the quality of sound tghe video is not very easy to view/listen to if there is little or very low audio not all PC/Notebooks or Android pads are able to amp up to a listenable level. To bad too some good recordings are junk cause NO AUDIO. PLEASE PLEASE up audio levels on record listen to your vid before you upload and re-do if the audio on this recording. Other then that great job just wish I could hear the sound on my systems...

    At 40:21 note Moorehead's brief odd hand movement as she holds the gun in her right hand and tries to light her cigarette in her left. Major studios would have cut and retaken. Also wait for one of the worst staged fistfights you've ever seen that begins with an expression found only in silent films.

    Could someone please tell me what " pre - code " means ?

    • @leelarson107
      @leelarson107 2 года назад +1

      That was 'the Hays Code', so named after Will H. Hays, who was the president of an association of film producers. The idea was to have the studios 'self-censor' themselves and their films. Intimate scenes and blunt speech were forbidden. This was instituted in 1930. It wasn't heavily enforced until 1934. 'Pre-Code' is somewhat of a misnomer because of the varying degrees of enforcement over a span of years. It was eventually shown to be unenforceable and abandoned in in the 1960's. **That's one reason why the stuff coming of Hollywood ever since has been increasingly coarse, vulgar, and 'Politically Correct' and 'woke' besides.

    • @PizzaFLIX

      No. Actress Verna Wilson blackmails her married backer, John Randolph Sr., for $100,000 by telling his wife that their relationship is more than professional. His son Dick persuades his mother not to leave the marriage, knowing that his father must be innocent. Determined to find out the truth, Dick and the family chauffeur board a steamship bound for Europe upon which Verna is a passenger.
