I totally get you. Im acouple months into lifting and honestly if I had known you can get an external or internal hemorrhoid, I would have avoided heavy lifting all together. It is too late, since I was introduced to this in late September 2020, Im in love with it and it has affected me and has changed me for the worst down there. Like you said, it doesnt hurt, it is just so damn annoying especially when you have to move your bowels 😩.
@@emilynibaur2866 To be honest Emily, I saw my doctor and she told me to stop heavy lifting all together. It may not sound like much but I was barbell squatting 275lbs and when I stopped, did my cardio and isometric moves like just body weight squats, my quads shrunk bkz im quad dominant. My hemorrhoid didnt change, but when i have a bowel movement is it unpleasant. It doesnt hurt but I use wipes now to clean myself when I have a bowel movement, sucks but at least Im hygienic with it. Im happier without the heavy lifting to honest.
@@lovedove2661 There is no need for women to lift heavy like that. Even for men the barbell back squat is an unnatural lift because of all the load placed directly above the spine. As far as I know hemorrhoids will have to be surgically removed in most cases.
My main form of exercise was an exercise bike and I had zero problems with hemorrhoids. When the belt snapped on the bike, I started doing online workouts that involved squats. Within a week I had hemorrhoids.
This is really helpful! It's great hearing this from someone in your area of expertise. Top weight lifters are very knowledgeable in their field, but it's hard for the average guy to interpret advise from these pros. For example the breath hold during lifting, it adds great stability for heavy loads. But now we know, the average guy should build a strong pelvic floor as a foundation before taking on heavy loads. I'm going to start watching more of your tutorials.
So glad this is helpful Joe, you're spot on - anyone/everyone lifting heavy loads (male/female) needs the pelvic floor as a strong foundation. You've summarised this perfectly! All the best
I totally agree. Ive been searching and searching for this information and have been told otherwise, hold your breath and wear a belt. This woman is amazing, thanks to her.
Michelle thank you for sharing this!!!! I recently got back in the gym and loved the lighting while squatting but experienced my first hemorrhoid which is gone now but I see how it happened. Blessings to you🌹🌹🌹
Hats off to this consultant. The moment I started increasing weights I got aware of this challenge . Hindered me mentally. . I have pretty good mobility. My core bracing was perfect , diaphragmatic breathing was perfect and was following ass to grass. Things I forgot that I realised after being aware of the body is that doing kegel( moolbandha in yoga ) while going down is very very important , belt should be only minimally tight so that with minimal breathing for bracing the cavity between trunk and belt fills ups , No extra wide stance, no delayed holding whilst down and exhale immediately , the moment one is up enough to attain stability for reracking. And wear something supportive to the inguinal and rectum region .

@Mr.awati3087 hi there! This squat technique reduces pressure off the pelvic floor so should lessen pelvic floor muscle tension. Hi Michelle, I've been unfortunate enough to get hemorrhoids from squatting, but since I'm also on a severe calorie deficit I only have bowel movements once or twice a week. I can't really tell if they're still there until its time for a movement so I'm unable to respond reliably. Would reducing the weights by half be enough to ensure I have time to heal, or should I stop doing the exercise completely until I'm sure that I'm pain free?
Hey Tom, allow your body time to heal, then recommence with less weight, yes reduce the weight you're lifting when you recommence and use the technique of not squatting deeply demonstrated in this video plus try not to strain with your bowel movements see here ruclips.net/video/QDk93cvZAuk/видео.html Are you taking osmolax or movicol to soften your stool whilst on the calorie deficit? @Bus Buss It turned out to be a dietary problem all along. I took lactulose syrup and it helped ease my BMs until my body got used to my new vegetable heavy diet. No problems ever since.
@@BusBuss-iy9fo I started lifting at home during the pandemic so I mostly learned through youtubers. Try Alan Thrall for in depth guides, and Scott Herman for quick ones. Aside from that, I just recorded myself with my phone and checked for mistakes. If you don't have a coach, the best advice I can give you is to lower the weight and focus on form and technique until it "feels" right. The movement should feel 100% mechanical with no 'weird' sensations of any kind, squatting to full depth is unnecessary unless you want to compete, and at that point you would probably have a coach.
Possibly from the prolonged standing along with other factors ... perhaps body weight, pelvic floor muscle strength/fatigue. You may find that splitting your long walk into 2-3 shorter walks on that day may help too

@@ADuduuj doctor did a ligation. But not again I have this pain. It worked for like 4 months. 4 months were perfect. But he said if this appears again, visit him again. But the pain is not that big so far, I have used detralex at about 2023 august, this helped a lot. And then if there is little pain, I use standing desk, and then pain dissapears. I do sports even when there is small pain. I think I need to continue doing sports and if pain will be unmanagable, then I will be motivated to go to doctor. Becasuse waiting and not doing sports sucks also.
Best information 👍
@Code & Machines So nice of you! Thank you for taking the time to comment. All the best! 🙏 ❤️
Hi Michelle i really need your advice im overweight just joined gym last week to loose weight, so my gym has minimum of 5kgs i cant even lift beyond that after leg day exercise i had blood in my poop i never had this before so i don't understand where im going wrong i haven't done squats with weights yet
What about with kettlebell swings? Do they actually help improve or prevent them?
Very informative thank you
Very welcome
Thank you so much Michelle, I have been looking and searching for this information. I lift and have recently realized that my hemmeroid is getting worse, or I think it is. After hearing this I am realizing my breathing is off.
Love Dove you're most welcome! Yep avoid the breath holding, breathe out on return to standing and try not to squat to deep. Good luck! 💜
@@michellephysio Thank you Michelle, I wish you all the success and wellness. I love that you are an Aussie, Im American and my husband is an Aussie. 🇦🇺
@@lovedove2661 How are you now?
@@aneskaric I don't hsve it any longer. Minimizing how much I squat heavy and what I have learned is if you dont have the strength to squat heavy, it naturally develop. Ive learned that after targeting each areas of my legs to support the squat, I don't all my energy into the breath. I wish I knew this before. I can 100% say the one small one I had is completely gone.
But wish you lived near by. Your videos have helped me so much.
@Yep Wow, thank you! I'm so glad to help you - thanks so much for your support . All the best!🙏 ❤️
Are women supposed to do the same kegel on the lower part of the squat? I inhale when lowering and exhale and engage core (kegel) when returning to standing
Thank you
I realised when I was bracing I was "pushing down" on my abs/pelvic floor rather than "pulling in". I now have stage 3 internal haemorrhoids :(
Not good for you Luke but at least now you know when things settle down hopefully you can modify your technique and return to squats again, all the best!
Omg can someone recommend exercises to help make your booty round??? I have been squatting heavy and my butt looks amazing!! But I have hemorrhoids now
Hip Thrusts are always the best for a well rounded booty even w/ or w/o hemorrhoids. ☺
How are you noww
@@skzstay-philippines4242 heyy, could you recommend more glute workouts which don't make hemorrhoids worse??
I was facing the problem of hemorrhoids and fissure at this situation weight lifting it's safe or not please reply me mam I am form india 😢
@Islamic6513 hello there! Weight lifting is wonderful for most men. Some men with pelvic floor problems that you describe are not aware that deep weighted squats can make these problems worse. Squats can be readily modified to allow continued weight training - avoiding deep squats, avoiding very heavy weights and using tight weight belts etc. You may like to watch the info in this video that teaches how to modify deep squats and alternative exercises to reduce the pressure on the anus/rectum I hope you find this video helpful too ruclips.net/video/3TyC6DRWqCM/видео.html All the best to you! Is it pull off exercise safe for wing muscles during hemorrhoids problem plz guide?
@salman khan My apologies I don’t quite understand your question. Would you mind rewording and submitting this again please?
Thank you!

Damn good video Thanks Subscribed
should I change to box squat instead?
How about hip thrusts?
I got haemorrhoid when i used to lift heavy before 3 years ago and still i couldn't overcome from this,my haemorrhoid is not bleeding but it gives lot of pain when my stool becomes hard i use to eat almost every day laxative to make stool soft so that it does'nt hurt when i go to defecate,i have controlled it but still in summer when weather becomes hot i face lot of problem with this, and i can't live without exercise but i can't tolerate that pain too,so according to you what should i do,is it safe to take natural laxative for long time because i have'nt other option except this,or i need to go for surgery for its permanent solution how can i get rid from this completely and permanantly,i did'nt bleed yet from it.................
I feel ya bro.. 4 months and counting...
Are you drinking lots of water through the day also are you taking any probiotics? This really helps me with my bowel movements, it keeps it soft and easy to pass. I also use wipes after any bowel movements to clean up really good since the hammerhoid affects how our bowels exit. Hope this helps.
Runing is harmful in fissure or piles
I got pain in right knee and burning in left ,concern with doc he recommended only rest, now i didnot squats from the last 2 weaks😟any suggetions dear.
Rest awhile then
Don’t stop it gets worse when you stop go to a new doctor
Does squatting result in intestinal constriction?
Not to the best of my knowledge
Guys, this exercise actually tightened my pelvic floor to a level that now i have chronic pelvic pain.. Please don’t follow this method for more than a week.. please
@Mr.awati3087 hi there! This squat technique reduces pressure off the pelvic floor so should lessen pelvic floor muscle tension. Deep squats increase pressure on the pelvic floor at the deepest part of the squat. Are you doing alot of core abdo exercise too? Intense core abdominal exercises cocontract the pelvic floor muscles so very important to avoid these along with practicing this pelvic floor relaxation technique for men here ruclips.net/video/Fac5ihuQ1Ws/видео.htmlsi=HMj3lCb7crKHoChk I hope this is helpful info for you and I wish you all the very best 🙏🏼
Thank you. All the things shown here did well, except one thing that literally destroyed my pelvic floor in past 4 months was “engaging pelvic floor during squats” it’s literally like doing kegels with every rep. Which I didn’t realise soon. Until I made it worse and got tons of other symptoms.
Please make a video on side effects of continuously holding pelvic floor tight during squat, which can lead to tight pelvic floor and pfd.
Recently I have experience with hemorrhoids I am really frustrated 🥴
I just got the worst hemmeroids ever in my life from power lifting. I was incapacitated for 3 months and this was the most painfull periode of my life. I Will try this!
i just got them man any tips and do they ever go away
@@shadowhunter3354 yeah dude. Try 72 hour water fasting. They heal fast when there is no bleek movement. I am still battling them today!
@@h.a.1516 i dont feel them on my day only when i work out they come back for 2 days and go away ive quit working out for few days im scared that i will never be able to work out again
@@shadowhunter3354 try to change your workout routine. I stopped Squats and deadlifts and put more effort in hip thrusts and lunges with weightplates in my hands. This worked for me. But changing your workout routine is not enough if you want them to go away completely. Lose weight if you are Obese. Try walking more daily. Too much sitting or standing can also be bad for hemrhoids.
Rn I regret doing squats that shit is uncomfortable no lie even just talking about it to someone
Well, watching them melt away within 48 hours felt so good, and yes, I used what I mentioned the other day. It actually took a bit more to make them totally disappear, I just go’ogled Melissa Thanderski and followed her simple advice.
I am Just 22 I have been working out since 2021 and go to gym 5 days a week sometimes even 6 days a week with progress and Increase in strength I started heavy lifting never had any problem just a month ago after a squat session I felt a lump in my anal area left hand side it flared up and it was so painful and bleeding I went to my Local GP took sitz bath and it healed I was doing fine also decreasing weights not too far just 2 days a go I was having a Bench press session not too heavy just 50 kg I normally used to do 70 again yesterday I felt a pain and lump around my buttocks I am really worried I am obsessed with working out as that's the only thing I enjoy i am really worried about it IS it normal how do i get rid of it DOCTORS JUST SUGGEST SOME PAIN RELIEF OINTMENT
So you hold to kegel the whole time during the squat from the top to bottom of the motion?
@Ilooklikeme I would suggest holding the Kegel exercise throughout the squat if possible but definitely at the lowest point of the squat and return to standing making sure to exhale at the lowest part and return to standing
This should help too, all the best!
@@michellephysio Hi Michelle, Thanks for the quick reply! It's going to be a shame I have to stop doing squats and probably deadlifts for a while, but my backside is way more important.
I haven't really taken any medication for it because I thought it'd go away with time. But I'll give the ones you listed a try.
@Bus Buss It turned out to be a dietary problem all along. I took lactulose syrup and it helped ease my BMs until my body got used to my new vegetable heavy diet. No problems ever since.
@Bus Buss I never needed to stop. Looking back, it was irrational of me to assume the exercise caused it in the first place.
Why do I have hemorrhoids when I have long walks?
Possibly from the prolonged standing along with other factors ... perhaps body weight, pelvic floor muscle strength/fatigue. You may find that splitting your long walk into 2-3 shorter walks on that day may help too
@@michellephysio I had a sport injury 2 years back.My ACL was partially teared(not a full tear) and Meadial meniscus was fully torn, Though my consultant didn't undergo any surgery to repair. Now , Is it (squat)allowed for me? If not how could i then Focus on my glute and Hamstrings ?
Just hindu squats
Flat footed prison squats.
Trapbar deadlift volume.
If you can do 500 hindu squats in 45mins you need just that and dont need bar loading as you grow older. Just my 2 cents.
I'm lucky, Michelle...squats don't hurt my one, lonely bummaroid! :) :) :)
Good news Theo!
Mam, does doing 20×3 squats a day can cause hemorrhoids ??
Not weighted, normal 20×2 and one set(20) with 3kg dumbbells on each hand.
I don't have hemorrhoids right now, neither i want them. Mam i don't go to gym. Only home workout, please help me out.
Hard to predict who will and won’t suffer hemorrhoids but often associated with constipation and straining to empty the bowel
Hi Michelle! may I ask you something? I just want to ask what specific kind of ab exercises are bad for hemorrhoid? because I want to make my abs good looking. And also please recommend some ab exercises I can do
@Axaxaxa unfortunately many of the intense core ab exercises increase pressure on the pelvic floor and hemorrhoids, probably the best to start with is modified kneeling plank, progress to on your feet when the hemorrhoids settle down, hope this helps! 🙏
Here because I don’t want a literal pain in my ass to stop the gain train
