I’m a 40 year old man and I still tear up watching this. It’s so evocative of my childhood, the music and animation is beautiful and it reminds me of simpler, happier times when I was a kid.
I'm 45 years old and last Christmas I showed this song and video to my nephew, telling him that this was one of my favorites when I was his age(8). that same day he repeated the video several times 😍
The tune of this song brought up tears to my eyes when I was a 5 year old kid. 21 years later the same thing still happens whenever I listen to it. I feel like somebody pats my back telling me: "everything's gonna be ok, don't worry, we're all here to help you through".
Who'd have thought nearly thirty years on I'd be sat here with my 3 year old on my lap, mesmerized. I'm so glad technology allows us to keep experiencing these things with a new generation.
I wish more parents would introduce today's kids to old things. Last December, I introduced my 2 year old cousin to the original stop motion Bob the Builder (even the original British version despite growing up watching the American dub) and he liked it. Some old things still work on today's little kids regardless of what the companies behind the reboots think.
In a world sometimes rife with hate, this is 13 minutes and 55 seconds of pure unadulterated joy, with a message truer now than ever. We all stand together.
this goes from my ears directly under my skin, and works out in in a million goosebumps... This is wonderfull and I will watch this over and over again, like almost 30 years ago. Tomorrow I'm going to show my own children, that I didn't grew up in stone-age, and that animated films were far more beautifull then they are made today. Thank you so very much for sharing! With best regards and greetings from The Netherlands!
I remember watching this when I was 7, and seeing my mum n dad come home after about of chemo. Later she sat watching my sister. That night she sat on my bed sink or swim I promise to never give in. Sadly that was a promise she could not Keep. But in my heart n memories we stand together. Esp as I look at my children during cv19 fight the fight! Stay blessed and safe and tell someone you love them ❤️
I bet a lot of people probably don't know this, but Paul McCartney, along with writing, composing, & producing, also voiced Rupert in the short! You gotta admit, for a guy in his then early 40's, He pulls off a great children's voice. Not to mention, the superb quality of the animation itself. This was during about the middle of what I call "The Cartoon Dark Age", When animation of any decent quality was only seen in feature-length films, theatre shorts were practically non-existent, & the only cartoons on TV were either meant to sell you an action figure or a bar of soap. To see something like this in 1984 back then must have been jaw dropping!
They really should show this on television again, especially at Christmastime. There's something very magical about it that wold make it ideal for Christmas morning when the children are opening their presents.
I was 1 year old, when Paul McCartney released The Frog Chorus. I remember 1 Christmas, my late uncle, my mum's cousin bought me some Rupert The Bear trousers. Happy memories. RIP Uncle John. 😥
I've just started to cry at your comment Marus because I've just finished showing this to my 4 year old daughter who was mesmerized and loving every moment
Me too! I could have sworn I put a Kirkland coffee pod in the Keurig, but it turned out to be piping hot Earl Grey tea! Not complaining, though. I love this cartoon and the song! I'm going to show this to my nephews!
Truly amazing when u consider that Rupert the Bear was created in 1920 and was still influential enough to play a key role in my childhood considering I was born in 1998, nearly 80 years later
Gosh Rupert the bear used to be my favourite thing to watch on a Saturday morning when I was a kid. I would remember waking up, grabbing my blanket and pillow and watching this on the box tv. Ktv South Africa. Gosh I miss those days. Was not a worry in the world, all that mattered was what I had planned for that day with my friends, causing havoc in the neighbourhood, riding bikes, building tree houses, gosh my parents were still married then, now everything has changed. Least myself on enjoys watching this . Too many memories
Unlocked so many memories watching this..woke up with this tune in my head and decided to search on RUclips to watch it again ..Thank you for these precious memories ❤
You can - my son is 6 and we just happened to read this story one night. Then I searched for this song and showed him that straight after it. He thought it was amazing.
This brings back so many memories. I remember on rainy days in primary school, they would roll out the tv and this was one of the things they would play. The good old days 😊.
Classic song. Shame they do not make fun songs like this anymore .Marvelous animation for the time it was made. Imagine what it could look like now with today's technology. Excellent video goes along with excellent song. Long may it be remembered and played for many years to come. All credit to Paul McCartney's creation.
I was always mad about the music but I never knew the lyrics and I also never would have thought it was actually part of a short story. I truly love classics. This was wonderfully and brilliantly designed, composed and animated and those who performed as the frogs had beautiful voices.
I know that feeling! I just found out which song was this! It's been more than 25 years since the last time I listened to it but the melody and the animation got stuck in my head.
Oh! Thank you so much for uploading this! My kids are 36 and 32 and we used to play the cassette when on long journeys! Stunning, my granddaughter will see it tomorrow when I look after her, she's three...perfect! It makes me go all goose bumpy! Who says we can't dream? Thank you Paul and Linda! Unforgettable! XXXX
Thank you for uploading this! My dad had recorded this on VHS for me decades ago, and I wore it down so badly from watching it all the time. I love the great quality of this video.
doet me denken aan mn vader vroeger, hij haalde me altijd uit bed om te zeggen dat de kikkertjes op tv waren ..thx echt leuk dit weer eens te zien na 30 jaar
Don't know why, maybe it was due to companies using this song for TV advertising, but this always reminds me of Christmas when I was a kid... Back when I believed in everything Christmas... Thanks for posting :)
I've, just looked it up amd this was released in June 1983 but Paul M, re-released it for the Christmas charts in 1984! Thats why it reminds us of Christmas 🙌
I remember watching this when I was a kid...now I'm 36 and my baby daughter loves it too. Her little face lights up when the song starts, and she bounces along 🥰
We had this on a mix tape 35 years ago - listened to it on loop in the car one family holiday in Devon 😍 My older sisters described the singing frogs to me but I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen the video ❤️
People around my age dont know what GOOD songs are like this. This song gives me a feeling that says. Dont worry. Were here for you. We love you. You can count on us
I got a Rupert Annual up until my 8th Christmas. I miss those days when everything was new. fantastical and ,innocent ' I was blessed with a very happy childhood , and if given half the chance . I would return to those carefree days forever. Sadly those days are gone and the Word has moved on.
The song was quite successful in The Netherlands as well. After all this time it still brings a smile to my face :) Though this is the first time I see a longer video of it. Thanks for uploading!
just recently realised that this wasn’t a fever dream I had as I was talking with my mum about when I was a toddler and she mentioned how I used to replay this song over over again, I was a Paul McCartney fan before I could spell Wednesday.
I can't thank you enough! I found this very moving. Is it stupid that I teared a bit while watching this. So many good memories of my childhood. To be a kid again...
7:22 Black cats: 🎵 Meow meow meow, meow meow meow... 🎵 Owl: SHHHHHH!!! Obviously, the owl didn't want the cats to enjoy themselves too much and blow his cover!
What's amazing about Rupert---which reminds me of when I was a kid---he steps out of his parents' house, and finds the adventures. He doesn't need to activate a secret computer program to jump to the digital world or whisper a magic rhyme while holding a seashell to find adventures or anything like that: he simply steps out his front door, the same way he would if he was going to school or going to a friend's house, and either the adventures come to him or he goes to them. I am 47 and this brings back happy memories. I think I still have this on a 7" vinyl single
Aaaw. I stumbled upon this short as a teen on youtube. I loved it.
Almost 48 and this is one of my favourite Christmas memories
It is Christmas day today when I posted this comment. I am 42. I never saw this video as a child.

I am now 62 and still enyoing this beautiful song of Paul and Linda. It is so magic. Takes me back to my childhood again. Thank you Paul. (Linda) ❤❤

Awh, I remember my nan buying me this on VHS when I was younger, love this film so much, and it means so much to me!
I watched this as a child and this melody stayed in my head all these years. Such a great song and powerful lyrics made me teary eyed😘

Thank you
This song really brings my mind back to those carefree days of being a kid.
They really should show this on television again, especially at Christmastime. There's something very magical about it that wold make it ideal for Christmas morning when the children are opening their presents.
I agree with you
I must have been 6 and I can still remember as though yesterday, ah good childhood memories. Thank you Paul & Linda
Hehe I was that age too :) haven't seen this since I was a child. Great memories
Same here. Hurrah for memories!! I remember this and the cartoon version of Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe at that age too.
@@peloquin1979 I love the animated version of #TheWitchTheWitchAndTheWardrobe 1979.
I was 1 year old, when Paul McCartney released The Frog Chorus. I remember 1 Christmas, my late uncle, my mum's cousin bought me some Rupert The Bear trousers. Happy memories. RIP Uncle John. 😥
I remember my father showing me this when I was a little girl... Miss you everyday, dad...

This is so english that my plain water just went full hot tea...I love this so much.

Me too! I could have sworn I put a Kirkland coffee pod in the Keurig, but it turned out to be piping hot Earl Grey tea! Not complaining, though. I love this cartoon and the song! I'm going to show this to my nephews!
Make me a cup of Tea then lol
Mothers create a warm and wonderful home, someone to tell your adventures to, someone who believes you. Paul loves that so much.
Ever had expierences that no one ever believes that are too fantastical to be real or believed, because I certianly have!
Truly amazing when u consider that Rupert the Bear was created in 1920 and was still influential enough to play a key role in my childhood considering I was born in 1998, nearly 80 years later
This will always remind me of sitting on the sofa with my grandad on Christmas eve aged about 7. I'm 37 now but still remember it. 😊
I was a bit older but I remember seeing this at the time, at about circa 1984 or something like that.
I love so much Paul McCartney, I'm only 12, when I saw that I passed to love him more! :') Wonderful!!!
I remember my dad making me watch this when I was a kid. He loved it,and so did I.
I miss you daddy...
Paul McCartney really _is_ a master at literally everything.
Gosh Rupert the bear used to be my favourite thing to watch on a Saturday morning when I was a kid. I would remember waking up, grabbing my blanket and pillow and watching this on the box tv. Ahmed Elsheikh you can!!
You can - my son is 6 and we just happened to read this story one night. Then I searched for this song and showed him that straight after it. He thought it was amazing.
That was definitely a trip down nostalgia lane haven't seen this in at least 14 years. Probably more.
This brings back so many memories.
I remember on rainy days in primary school, they would roll out the tv and this was one of the things they would play. The good old days 😊.
Jeez, haven’t seen these for time, wow. Brings me right back to yesteryear 😊
I remember watching this when i was really young, i didn't think i'd see it again. ahh memories
THAT CARTOON IS SO CUTE! This makes me wanna hug Rupert Bear

Just today i found this exist, i'm from Mexico where Rupert is almost unknown but this is so cute and charming and feel oddly nostalgic
From a simpler time, take me back to when I was a kid watching this
When a talking bear is surprised by singing frogs.
I loved this as a kid I was 4 and now I am almost 36 still watch it now and then great video
Dopo più di 40 anni ho ritrovato un ricordo d'infanzia che nessuno ricordava 🥲... legato a mio nonno che la chiamava "la canzone del bom bom"🥹
I was always mad about the music but I never knew the lyrics and I also never would have thought it was actually part of a short story. I truly love classics. This was wonderfully and brilliantly designed, composed and animated and those who performed as the frogs had beautiful voices.

10:25 Sad to see a beautiful and lively moment end so abruptly.
I love British stuff! 6:30 is my favorite moment, the Grumpy father shows he really loves his son.
Genius Paul Out Of This World Thank You
I was 20 and expecting my first daughter. ..wonderful warm memories of a happier time.
Great! Thanks for putting this on RUclips. My 2 yr old just can't get tired of watching this one.
Absolutely beautiful instrumentation and singing

October 2019.. I feel you Phil!
I felt the call too. November 19
April 2020...
@@catiapb1 I just came back April 2020 for obvious reasons, song takes on a whole new meaning
Of course the talking bear's mother knows that the prospect of a singing frog is ridiculous...
Ha ha, I love that comment!
Haha! Love it! Simple but genius!
jagara1 It's all an acid trip, nothing new too Paul!
And of course there's nothing so quintessentially English as an elephant in a flat cap.
Don't know why, maybe it was due to companies using this song for TV advertising, but this always reminds me of Christmas when I was a kid... Back when I believed in everything Christmas... Thanks for posting :)
It so reminds me of Christmas too😍

I was two and a half when I first saw this clip and we'd just moved to Australia, didn't realise it had been out since 1983
I had this on VHS when I was a kid! Got it for Christmas. Fond memories!
Me too!
Sir Paul McCartney is a genious
My son had to dance to this in a school musical. He's just 5. Now we both love it.
We had this on a mix tape 35 years ago - listened to it on loop in the car one family holiday in Devon 😍 My older sisters described the singing frogs to me but I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen the video ❤️

A meaningful song in these hard times.
What a beautiful song! It's also quite sad as well!!!!
Meant to be,today of all days. Uncanny! Im sure AI reading our thoughts

Black cats: 🎵 Meow meow meow, meow meow meow... 🎵
Owl: SHHHHHH!!!
Obviously, the owl didn't want the cats to enjoy themselves too much and blow his cover!
Still brilliant
Beautiful, no more to say.
This was so cute a real guilty pleasure. Have the single n vinyl somewhere.
not a guilty pleasure at all... it just an awesome song with a super story on screen. :)
Damn I dint even know it was Paul McCartney cartoon, now my life is complete
He is a famous beatle
I had this on record and constantly played it and acted as all the frogs. Haha still makes me smile 😁
My dad showed this to me when I was really little and I just randomly thought of it I’m so glad I found it!
I know it's sad but I'm 43 and still get myself a Rupert annuals at Christmas lol
So do I and I'm 68!
I bought back all the ones I destroyed and lost on eBay! I know have most of the 50s, 60s and 70s - the golden years.
There's nothing sad about that. Do what you love while you are still on Earth.
I'm 35 and I still look forward to Disney World trips. No shame.
It would only be sad if you'd reached 43 and felt you couldn't buy them if you wanted to.
I was 7 at the time this lovely song cames out :-) Still a superlovely song!!!!
Loved this - So many special memories...Loved it and still do! Meow, meow meow... meow, meow meow!!! LoL xx
Great song and thank you for those wonderful childhood memories. R.I.P Windsor Davies and June Whitfield.
Reminds me of being a child, the same age as my son is now, amazing feeling! Thank you uploader!
Moc hezká animovaná pohádka a moc hezká písnička ❤✌️
I watched this when i was 6 , and now I'm 30 years old. Still love this movie.
I'll never forget watching this on a VHS with the Oriental Nightfish and Seaside Woman.
Brings back so many good memories. Thank you, Paul 🙏🏽
Como me emociona esta cancion!!En realidad me encanta, la escuche cuando era chica, y la sigo escuchando hasta el dia de hoy.
Me encanta!!

BRO MY CHILDHOOD IM 20 AND I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS WHEN I WAS 4!!!
Hoorde m gister op de radio. Meteen opgezocht. Mooi dat ie hier is geupload. Thx Cl04d
Playing outside as a kid really _was_ like that once, albeit with fewer supernatural elements.
Used to watch this on video every year at christmas at my aunts house... fond memories
I think I just became six again! Remember this as if it were yesterday!
brilliant, I am 52 years old and heard this song numerous times but I never seen or knew this video was made for it - but today I sat down and watched it in full . Marvellous
Magic indeed. I had n't seen the Full film again since it was released. (nearly 40 years ago). Thanks Sir Paul. Magic 😢😢
