- This week I got to live out a childhood dream! I got the Disney Monorail Playset which is now running loops around our Christmas tree!

I had the Disney monorail set when I was younger and it was fun because I use to make amusement parks out of knex and legos and had the monorail for transport. I have the contemporary resort, epcot ball, station, black and blue monorail. My black monorail you can't put anything in it because it was before they added characters to the set but the blue monorail you can put the characters in it.
Anyway my family had two christmas trees and one of them was always disney themed so we always had the monorail going around at the bottom.

Same I used to have the red one when I was three
Very nice. We just got ours last week, they’re still selling orange. The first thing I did was add illumination to both the Spaceship Earth and Contemporary. Way more fun when they light up! I also added some HO scale passengers inside the passenger compartments. Enjoyed seeing someone else excited to have a childhood dream come true.

No you're not crazy Rob, model train sets are powered via the rails. Depending on the type of set you buy, will determine how the power is sent to the engines themselves. I absolutely LOVE the Monorail set. I'm getting an idea of what I could do if I had one of those

I have the Disneyland version of the monorail. Its orange with white stripes. Except mine has a remote control! But it's a lot louder while its moving.
OMG!!! I love this so much!! We have a train track around our christmas tree, but as a huge disney nut I love the monorail better :) I also love that trashcan ornament...I miss push

Get the contemporary set if they still have it! I have the monorail set (In green) around 5 years ago and I got the contemporary set a bit later after that and I love it! I just wish they still sold the Polynesian and Grand Floridian sets though!

I did that once. At the time my building was kinda bad but it worked for the most part. I should really try and do that again now that my skills are better!

I got this like 8 years ago when I went to Disneyland. I’m surprised they haven’t changed it at all, except I guess made the train orange. (Or maybe its orange in Disneyworld?). Those little figures are so easy to lose, I don’t think I have a single one left.
My family has always wanted this.. especially now because my dad drives the monorail and our Disney train broke :(
I got a WDW Railroad and I put it around my tree and it’s cool

I’m super late! But when you posted this I was in Disney I’m currently waiting right now for our plane back to our home! I was in Disney last week and saw a blue monorail set and got it for $ 99.99 at Walt Disney World I was so happy!

When I got mine (Disney Land Verison) my characters wouldn't fit in the little seats the way I fixed it was is I took a fork and gently made the holes bigger for the characters till the were good enough to sit in the spots but, the do not fit in each place for the seats also there's videos for how to speed up the monorail and the little motor made mine go four times as fast and it was awesome 😜 ask me a question if you want some more tips dude 😉😉

WOW!!! that´s awesome!!! Do you know if they sell only the tracks? so you could make it even bigger?
They do indeed! They sell them as straight and curved sets. 4 beams + 4 columns for $13. A bit high in my opinion, considering they're plain gray plastic, but that's the Disney tax for ya!

Hey Joey! So the castle itself is the official LEGO Cinderella Castle (shop.lego.com/en-US/The-Disney-Castle-71040) that I then strung some lights up on. Hope that helps!

Thanks! The castle is the new Lego Cinderella Castle set that came out in September (shameless plug for my time lapse building it: ruclips.net/video/y0YupdC9Kaw/видео.html). Not cheap and took 10 hours to build, but totally worth it. I saw other people doing it online, but I just found a string of small lights to run around it for Christmas.

With the sale going on the set itself was around $67. I told myself that it was basically just a little more than a video game. Without the sale it was $90, and I've noticed that when it's not in stock on the website it goes for around $120+ on eBay.
