In this video, we will be having a first walkaround showing you the Interior and Exterior Features of the all-new 2024 Mercedes Benz E-Class in comparison with the old W214 E-Class.
The new E-Class: A Bridge between Tradition and Digitalisation
Stuttgart. For over 75 years, the E-Class has set the standard for mid-range luxury saloons. In 2023, Mercedes-Benz will open a new chapter for the business saloon: the new E-Class points the way in the transition from the combustion engine to the electric drive. At the same time, its new electronics architecture allows a comprehensive digital user experience. The first saloon models of the 214 series will arrive at the
European sales partners in autumn 2023.
The new E-Class (length/width/height: 4949/1880/1468 millimetres) has the proportions of a classic three-box saloon: the short front overhang and long bonnet are followed by a greenhouse which is set well back. The passenger area is generously dimensioned, partly owing to the two-centimetre longer wheelbase (2961 millimetres) compared to the preceding series. The luggage capacity is up to 540 litres.

It’s equipped with a 381 HP (280kW) 3.0l 6 Cylinder in-line engine which produces 400 Nm of torque 9G TRONIC automatic transmission
2024 New E450 E-Class W214 0-100 km/h (62mph) can be reached in 4.5 seconds!
The top speed VMAX is electronically limited to 236 km/h (147 mph)

Here in Brazil we have a 2017 W213 E250 and all we needed was a comparison video like this to decide on a future exchange for a W214.
We love the W213 as a family car, we already had a 2014 W212 E250 facelift and we still keep a 2003 W211 E500 as an “asset”, for occasional use. I have driven the entire evolutionary sequence of the E Class since the W210 and I can say there are losses, and gains, of course. My personal opinion as a lover of Mercedes Benz cars and not Mercedes Benz technologies (Gadgets), we lose with each generation, with more speed from the W212 onwards. They give the feeling of being "less automobiles" and more equipment, machines for simple use such as TVs, computers and dishwashers. Sad.

@@mr.benzNope it came out in 2016 as a 2017 model. Go look at all the W212 models the last model was 2016, not 2015.
The wheelbase of w213 is 2939mm, not 2760mm. The newer model is about 2-3cm longer, not 20cm. The difference in wheelbase is also about 2cm.

We're comparing a post-pandemic recession car with a pre pandemic car. Overall, 213>214 simply because it may stand the test of time. The 213 can be a million kilometer car whereas the 214 most likely won't because of too much technology which means too many things that can go wrong.
The 213 CAN be a million kilometer car, but it isn't in the same breath. VERY FEW broke a million mark. And the same will be with 214. They didn't even aim to create 1mio km car.

Excellent! Just got my 2018 w213 e400 and I'm so pleased! I saw the w214 in London and it looks better than the w213 facelift - but not as good, in my eyes as the pre-facelift w213 that you have here
The New w214 looks more substantial though. More planted.
The new E-Class is a lesson that more isn't always better. There are some nice extra touches on the newer model, but the overall exterior design of the prior generation just looks much more expensive and elegant. The new model is still very nice looking, but the odd black plastic grill frame is cheap looking, as is the way the flat appearance of the "3D" grill. I would love a mixture of these two models.
I believe that the W212- faclift is the last really good looking E-class. The W213- facelift have better taillights than the pre- facelift, much the same as the 214. The W214 is not anything like as good as the older models.
The exterior design of the 2016 is much better than that of the new Toyota-like one. The interior of the new one is much modern but less luxurious.
It’s way more luxurious. Better materials and build quality. Some people are just salty about touch screens and less buttons.
The quality is vastly higher on the new model. Sturdier and there's barely any plastics, and even where you find it it's a high quality one.
I dont know what these two other comments are talking about but theres so much more cheap plastic in the 214 than the 213. Ive owned the 213 and now currently have the new e400e w214. Those two probably only watched vids about them and havent actually touched them irl. Because the 214 looks awewome but theres much much more cheap light plastic inside. My 213 was much less creeky and everything (touchscreen or ESPECIALLY the seat adjustments) felt much sturdier. Both were amg lines with full leather options.
@@alexwithanx You don’t have a W214.🤣 You claimed static seat controls creak. You don’t even know that they don’t move in the W214. Every single person who’s sat in one says the creaks are gone and the build is solid. The cheap plastic around the window switches is gone (the new 5- series has even more of that than the old 5 OR the W213 lol). The door card is all leather/artico, metal and carpet- no hard plastic like BMW and Audi. Troll reply fail.
@@alexwithanx what the hell are you talking about? The w213 was not solidly buildt at all around the door and the centre consolle, even the dashboard creaked.
There is genuinely 0 cheap plastic in the w214. You'll only find it in the lower side of the door, the back of the seats or the centre of the wheel and it's a very soft, smooth plastic, it's not a cheap material at all.

Great video. Overall W213 is an awesome package. In many ways, an old one is still better than the new E. 2 front LED stripes are the most elegant light signature in automobilism until now. Currently I drive E-class 2019
2016 looks much better in my opinion and deffinetly has better build quality in the interior! So in my opinion the newer model isnt just highly overprized, its also a big downgrade to the older one.
Love the headlights of the new W214, with the lower two curved lighting elements continuing the "two light" signature of the E-Class

I owned the old Mercedes and loved it. I just purchased the new 2024 E450 it is fabulous the inside cabin materials are flawless, the ride is superb, the sound system is great. I am very pleased. I also have the super screen. The infotainment system is great. The touchscreen also works flawlessly. I don’t care about the exhaust tips the car is absolutely beautiful.
The W213 was inaugurated as a 2017 model, at least here in North America. The 2016 is the previous-gen W212. If I am right, please correct this video.

Love the look of that super screen but, the touch screen will look dirty from touching. I personally prefer the control knob. Both are beautiful. I own w222 S560.
I have the 2021. Bought my lease out. I can’t get into the new one. Besides, the leasing numbers are out of this world.
W214 with the exclusive line is possibly the best new model for Mercedes.
I have two C class; one 2018 C180 (W205) and a brand new 2024 C200 (W206); just like in the E class, while the newer ones look truly modern, the exterior lines of the older ones look classier, more elegant but the interior of both C and E class is better in the newer ones tough.
Hate the new large screen dashboard. Itactually cist much less, because it's just one LED touch screen whuch is cheap today, everything is software, whereas the old one requires specifically made hardware pieces for the gauge, switches, buttons etc..
Super screen seems cool, but in reality a third of it is just dead screen which is kind of a bad design choice. They should of just embedded each individual screen in to the dash surrounded by leather

why is the steering wheel buttons layout are different here in North america with the same model.
The new E class looks good from the front but not the tail lights. The benz emblem in tail lights looks terrible. The interior of new E class is clean and not cluttered like the classic E class. The tail light of old E class is good. The interior of old E class is also good with physical buttons and a centre clock and big touch screen.

I'll keep my 2014 E250. I love the look of the newest one, but I hate the fact that you have to do everything through the screen, even to turn the temp up or down. I think there has to be a balance between physical buttons and the screen, and the new one seems to have gone too far through doing everything through the screen or via voice command.
I haven't looked at new cars in a decade and thought I was going to build an E450 from scratch until I saw it. I want more leather more wood more soft touch, not screens everywhere.
I own a W213 E300. It is one of the best cars I have ever owned. I also like the W214. I would like to drive the W214 to compare handling and comfort. I do however, prefer the W213 front grill and tail lights to the W214.

I have a 2019 E300 with the luxury package. I like the elegance of the hood star and the burled walnut interior. I like the fact that my car really resembles the S class. I, like others feel like the interior looks like a video game. We don’t get the luxury package in the USA and being an old man I don’t really like the sport version.

I loved the 2016 morethan the 2024 at entry level. The w124 is quite below my expectation, a job weldone though. And I will love to agree with you on the comforts of the seats, that of w123 much better. I'm going for the w123 honestly. But will always appreciate the great job of the German auto

The streamline design of the 213 is one of the biggest reasons i chose to buy that car, i went for the all terrain version which for me is the best car ever made, the interupted line is more of audi design language when they departed from the streamline clean design and f-it up, idk the 213 is still better they went too far with the new design, they could have just mde it better incrementally
The new E class interior looks much better without the superscreen look it up! I don’t like all this shiny black plastic and the interior ambient lighting is just too tacky. Exterior is really cool in the new one.

The AMG grille on the new model is very ugly. Overally, the older model is better looking by far on the exterior. I also think the wheels on the new one are needlessly too large. That also doesn’t help the ride.

First of all, that w213 has non AMG wheels and that throws it off a lot. Personally the w213 is the best E class they made for a long time, and is better then the new one for me.
Beside all new generation benefits the price is not justified in my opinion. The quality sucks in the new w214…

I like the new E Class more. The old one was ok, but the new one is Instagram-video quality. Alienware LED inspired. The interior is really nice despite being a little gawdy.
The downside is the weak engines and high price. $80,000 for a 4 cylinder with superscreen? $90,000 for a 6 cylinder?

Mercedes-Benz is messing up on these new E class. I ordered a new one fully loaded in the US and it does not come with that sport flat bottom steering wheel they shorted us a bunch of features that’s still being advertised. I don’t get it. I’m getting ready to bring back this E class and cancel the deal. It is not what I thought or what is being seen in your videos or any videos we are not getting these models in the US.
The biggest issue with the design of E class, is that it doesn’t have shoulders above the rear tires.

I personally think Mercedes Benz best years were between 2004 & 2020 … build quality & wow factor. Now ofcourse they’re still good but these newer Mercedes seem fruity to me to be honest.
