    I wouldnt trace the wrenches. I use 1/2 thick foam sold special for tool boxes. Cut a straight slot to correct lengnth. Push the wrench down in. Wrenches are not laid flat anymore. Triples your space.

      @@robsgaragewoodworkin it might be a good idea if you added a thicker layer and placed them sideways with maybe a good labeling underneath or beside then to identify what is what.

      @@robsgaragewoodworkin by sideways I meant like, rather than laying flat lol. I'm sure you know what I mean.

      @@robsgaragewoodworkin no not yet, too many projects needs to be done before I get to play with my personal ones, like now the kids wants to build bird houses, one as a dump truck and my girl wants a ice cream truck bird house. Cutting the pieces for them to assemble with me!

    The tool density, or number of tools you can fit would be the same or less for the softer kaiser foam

    • @robsgaragewoodworkin
      @robsgaragewoodworkin  2 года назад

      Tool density as in how many tools you can put in an area. If I were to hang the wrenches I could get them closer together and still have them facing me so I could read the sizes. Some people store them on their sides in foam which allows you to get more in the same amount of space but you can’t read the sizes. I like them facing out so if the wife and kids are looking for a tool they can identify what they need or what I’m asking for.

    How did you ultimately solve the glue squeeze-out issue? You're doing exactly what I've been wanting to do. I bought the yoga mats a while ago and a couple different depth foam pads to put on top, but I've not gotten to the stage of gluing them together, so I'd love to hear what your ultimate solution was for that. Thanks for the video!

    • @robsgaragewoodworkin
      @robsgaragewoodworkin  3 года назад

      Oh yeah that's an issue. I was super careful and just used the glue sparingly and marked outlines on the green foam and lined up the top to the outlines and put the weight on it. Then there was some squeeze out that I picked off the foam with an exacto knife. It was a tedious operation... Good Luck with your project!
      Cheers!

    You should be using barge cement

    That was an insane amount of work for very little money savings and not a great use of space having to store them flat versus upright. I won't be undertaking this project when I can buy the real thing for $30 or less per sheet.

      That was from a couple of years ago when kaizen foam was not readily available in Canada or was crazy expensive. I got some for $23 CDN and have done a series of videos for different tools. Here’s the new wrench holder video. ruclips.net/video/RmZpJ19pDCU/видео.html
