I've never understood the scorn pyro gets as a "bad" class. A W+M1 Pyro isn't really any more braindead than a sticky camping demo, a lucksman sniper who prays for random headshots, an engie who builds a nest on last, a spy who goes for a single backstab in the middle of a swarm of enemies and insta-dies, a scout who runs straight at a sniper, or a Skial player.
I completely agree. Playing in a way that guarantees kills without much effort/skill is kinda boring and annoying to me. Don't get me wrong, they all have use cases, but I want to play my movement shooter in a fun way.
Despite what *some* RUclipsrs (Ster lol who even recently admitted that without pyro Solder would be way too overpowered) tried to spread, Pyro actually has a pretty high skill cieling, and W+M1 is generally not actually very useful as an actual strategy. I think we've let ourselves be too tainted by the opinions of those who don't play Pyro, they always seem to assume it's incredibly easy instead of learning how to counter it. Which is ironicsince Pyro has probably the most obvious counters.
@@darkidarki1332 even W+m1'ing takes a fair amount of skill, not as much in execution, but in recognizing when doing this will be effective. if you die to a W+m1ing pyro, either he did something right. because he managed to get behind you, where a spy or a scout could have killed you even faster than a pyro could, or you did something wrong, because you didn't manage to out-damage the pyro, which pretty much any class can do and the ones who can't, can run faster than pyro so you failing to escape is also on you.
@@windhelmguard5295 pro tip: don't run straight away from the pyro, flare punching is a guaranteed one shot combo on light classes and will kill meds with afterburn.

That's really awesome of you to say. Just be aware, they're blinding and definitely make it harder to play sometimes. Game pretty, but vision through explosions can be bad lol
I used to really hate using the Dragon's fury because the single fire made it feel weak, until I found out every hit resulted in a shorter cooldown I then proceeded to get my first killstreak outside of training mode as pyro in a long time
I think you missed one type of Pyro playstyle: The flank pyro. A lot of the things you mentioned the Pyro lacked (Lack of mobility, not being able to kill snipers, slow) can be made up with it. Using items like the Thermal Thruster to get close to snipers and actually kill them, the Powerjack to go fast, and possibly the backburner (If you thermal thrust well enough, it's easy to get on the back lines without the enemies noticing). You can also combo with the thermal thruster if you land on their heads. Despite most people dismissing it, imo the jetpack it's one of the most fun additions to pyro.
I've tried using the TT and just couldn't get used to it. Maybe I'm unlucky, but ppl (usually snipers) actually look up even when I'm coming from around map geometry.
I started playing TF2 in 2019, barely touched it much but I always liked Pyro. Now Ive got about a hundred hours in him alone and I will say this much, the timing required for some of the reflects is absolutely insane.
