  • In Part 7 of this AOS 8 series I am going to show you how to work with the newly introduced configuration hierarchy. Going to show you both how to do that in the WebUI and in the CLI.

Thanks!! I was ripping my hair out and forgot about the "Show Advanced Profiles" until I saw this video. I wish that was on by default

After hours of figuring out "Show advanced profiles" is the magic which we get used to. Cheers

At the 5 minute mark, the slide shows that user-role VLANs can be overridden when using named VLANs. When I try to choose a different VLAN in the advanced settings at a lower node in the hierarchy, I can a "you can't do that on this node" type error. How does one go about overriding the VLAN for a user-role (I don't want to have to recreate the same user-role 40 times in my hierarchy.

Nevermind... You add a named VLAN and assign the role the VLAN at the top of the hierarchy, then you override the VLAN ID number at the lower level. You change the VLAN ID, not the role.

As the slide shows these 5 config items cannot be overridden at a lower level so you need to use named vlans. So create the named vlan at the highest hierarchy and then override the value that the named vlan refers to at the lower level.
