- One of the questions I get asked very often is; "do you need a key to start a Routemaster bus. The answer is totally dependant on which bus.

About Pete And His Bus: Pete is a normal (ish) guy who has a big passion for old vehicles and particularly old buses. He is NOT a trained mechanic nor is he a professional restorer. He enjoys converting vehicles but he can not promise that what he is doing is going to work on your vehicle. Nor can he promise that you won’t harm yourself if you were you to attempt the things he does. He recommends that you are safe and responsible with machinery and equipment even if you’ve seen him messing about with it. A workshop and it’s content can be a dangerous place. If you are in doubt about your own vehicle, contact a professional for advice. Развлечения
Lovely old routemaster, fond memories of my schooldays
Nice! 👍👍
I would use one of these to travel and live in
👍👍
Also, its sensible to make sure that hand brake is on and the semi automatic gear box gear selector is in neutral.... Also, cold starting engine good idea to have start at full throttle. :)
Sound advice there 👍
@@PeteAndHisBus All common sense sort of stuff but is sense common!
Don't agree about full throttle ......
@@Martindyna on a cold day, with a cold engine you'd be there a good while! You start on full throttle and ease off the accellerator steadily until you reach idle. To quickly the engine will cut out, esppecially with older vehicles than the routemaster with similar engines. That has slow idle speeds. Im not suggesting you sit there foot to the floor for a long period of time its within seconds (depending on conditions.)
@@nathantutty7454 I was thinking you would flood it with Diesel if it doesn’t catch quickly …… then you get Diesel fog coming out of the exhaust
Different to when in LT service climb up leaving door open in summer as got too hot (against rules but no one bothered to enforce). Push in engine stop and pull down on starter switch after checking handbrake on and neutral selected. All were the same when owned by LT. RT's/RF's slightly different in that engine stop was the gas pedal just lift to stop engine.
That’s it! You know
Oh good! Information I will likely never have a use for! 😊
You are welcome 👍😂
Wish there was an American style one of these so the drivers side is on the left
You’d have to custom convert one…. That’d not be cheap 😂😂
Lovely old London bus
Good innit! 👍
Hats of to those men and women who drove these for a living to transport millions of londoners around, thank you! 👍. These things seemed awful to drive. Noisy, smelly, uncomfortable, seem to have such a cold feel to them.
Nah there a doddle to drive. The earlier ones were tougher though..
I love those old busses they are good would you like to use that or new ones
👍👍
That bus of yours I said number 14 from Putney bus garage when they got rid of them in 2005
That’s the one
I used to drive them in service, route 207 Uxbridge to Shepherds Bush, that is not how they start.
I state clearly, they’re all different
time to head to london and steal one for myself.
Let me know which one you get! 👍😂
Old-school 😎
That’s right 👍👍
Where’s Boris Johnson’s favorite feature?! The treadmaster!!!!!!
Hahaha!
nice. keyless.
That’s right. Some have ignition keys but they’re removed to start the bus. Keyless is the way
Ok Pete , l think it is time to
give the "Cab" a make over
may be change the Colour
to a lighter grey or even white
it has to look better than the
current dusty worn out Black
🙄🙄😮😮😮😮😮😮😁😁
😂😂
@@PeteAndHisBus 🤣🤣, l was being serious , you
could repaint it black if you
want to disappear 😮😮😮
😮😮😮🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄
i'd be inclined to form some sort of gasket/seal around that isolator hole to keep the dirt out.
It's lasted this long I'm sure it'll be ok
Could you drive that on a motorway??.. it would make a cool holliday home
Yes for events we do all the time. A holiday home that goes 42.5 miles per hour and that does about 10mpg…… no thanks 😂😂😂
Just like starting my boat
Good boat then!! 👍😂
Random but what is the top speed of your bus very lovely vehicle
With the standard diff a routemaster will do 42.5 mph
@@PeteAndHisBus thanks for replying that's not bad for such a old vehicle , you should do a top speed video
Ding, Ding !
All aboard
I'm going to nick your bus Pete!
Be my guest!
how to steal a routemaster in a few easy steps cheers lol
You are welcome!

👍
I no where 3 of these are that need a bit of attention they have been in that garden for as long as I remember it’s sad to see them unloved and left like that if I had the cash i would be knocking and putting them back where they belong on the road
There a great thing to own
@@PeteAndHisBus one is a toll bar bus Pete that’s a special bus not a lot of them was built
leebryant1973 where is this
@@roxielisa in hull m8
James Bond didn't have to do any of that in Live and Let Die.
haha! yeah, being in a film does help..... ;)
🤗❤️👍

In new buses it would be a bad idea to have the battery isolation accessible from the passenger compartment. Some anti social person would surely turn it off, these days 😮
Good point
“I’ll ave you butler….get that bus outta here”
Classic
Whoa and old bus found on a farm?
Nope 👍
