- One of the most valuable practices I ever experienced was time spent jamming to Jamey Aebersold play-alongs with my friends in high school. Thought this might be a fun and helpful to try with you.

Please make more videos like thiiiisss!! We do love it
This will be my next project for my self! Hoping that i can do it well as you do !
Such a great Dad, Your son will treasure these memories in later life :-)
This tune is great to work on ones comping when u solo, then improv - has enough changes to keep interest - now, to learn that interesting Head... Perfectly 👍🤠🤘
So many gems in just the 1st 2 choruses. As I transcribe your solo I'm once again struck by how different instruments have different approaches. These ideas wouldn't have occurred to me on the bone, but damn, they're so musical. Really helps to free you from the trap of what lies better/easier on your own horn. A real eye opener man, thank you!
AWESOME how his daughter interacted. Sounds like a great daughter and a great father!!!!
man, that might be the most fun I've had playing to a backing track.
Btw, you play beautifully 😍 so many ways u make your horn sing. Sax players and the breath. ❤
A student of the bass here, and I can't believe I missed this first time around. This is truly brilliant! Feels like I'm sitting in with a serious PLAYER! And what a player you are. And humble, not to mention generous to a fault, too! Thanks, Mr. R.
Oh Bob, that tenor sound of yours...always was and always will be...perfection!
Bob, as a guitar player, this is immensely helpful to have a fresh solo that I can listen and comp to! Please make more videos like this!
I am a bass player. So thankful for your insight on bringing new life to practice. Also enjoying playing my bass along with this. Thank you.
Yes that was fun. Thanks!
Fascinating rhythm? Indeed!
this is great I've always had trouble running out of ideas or just getting bored with plain old backing tracks and this made it so much easier to stay engaged and actually work on improvising, I would absolutely love it if you made more!
i love your sound
What a coincidence ! I learned this tune last week and been playing it every practice session ever since 🎷
Thank You, Thank You Thank You!!!!!! This has been "THE BEST" sax lesson ever!!!!! Thank You Bob for all you do man this actually made a crack in the wall that I've been trying to get past for years!!! This is fast enough that I don't feel over whelmed, and slow enough that I can hear what's happening and make adjustments after each pass.
Again Thanks "B"
I love this, like you said it's easy to get lost in my own echo chamber, thanks for the nice ideas Bob...this song seems to bridge a gap between traditional and more modern, you really nail the changes. we should all do this on every tune.
If you made play alongs like this I would buy them, especially if the rhythm section was live/customized
@Bob Reynolds
Always a favorite tune to blow on! I was lucky enough to be at NTSU when Joe Henderson (1985?) and Michael Brecker (1984) came to do clinics and I was in 7th heaven both times! I was going to post the RUclips link to Brecker playing Recordame at his appearance, but now I can’t find it - bummer. To us young sax players in the audience it was a mind blowing experience!
Real fun
Fascinating rhythm.
Me again! Now I've spent longer on it I just want to say this has made a big difference to my jazz vocabulary, learning your solos to play along with you (on my 5 string viola) and then to play answering solos to these. Thankyou again, please do more!
This is such a GREAT teaching idea. Just moved to Florida and will be working on reinventing my playing. This little gem of a video will be such a great start. Thank you for this. Hope you do more of these!
This really helped me learn this piece I'm a freshman trumpet player trying out for a duet and I needed to learn this piece for tomorrows audition so thank you thank you thank you for this
Also you sound incredible
Hello from Kansas City, Missouri. Bob, your solos were a great lesson in telling a story and being in service to the song without excessive shred. Great discipline. Great video as always. Thanks.
also here from kcmo! Bob is the man.
@Eric Huang true but give chad some time he’s a fair bit younger.
editing to say he really does sound amazing too and there are recordings already coming where he’s starting out more chill
Super fun, thanks Bob!
This was so fun! Would love more. Thank you!
Please do more like this! You pull us along behind the speedboat with you, thanks
This was great! I love your ideas and the logical storytelling in your choruses. I found a lot to learn here. This is a huge gift. It is as close as many of us will get to trading choruses with a pro. Thanks so much, Matt
This is amazing!!! 😃 What a joy to trade choruses with you!
I think we all would love more tunes like this to play along.
Thank you Bob !
Incredibly helpful! Please do more of these videos!
Oh my gosh, this idea is gold!
Bob, your kids are growing up! It is such fun to see them occasionally pop up in the videos, yes indeed!
This was a good thing to warm up with. I usually have to play/trade with people at my level so it's good to hear your more realized ideas and try to repeat them back or stay on that level.
super fun!
Great way to make the Abersold trail way more fun. Thank you Bob🙏🏻
Wow that was fun! I’ll be replaying this one for a while.
Nice to have you back with the videos Bob.... you know I love your videos!
Great ! Loved it!
Very helpful in keeping track of the form and bringing in new and fresh ideas. Love it!
Great idea Bob! thanks for doing this for us x
I'd love to have more of the same. Super fun!
Great idea!!
I love this tune; thank you!
A lot of fun! We want more!! :D
What a great idea and how generous of you to offer to trade solos! Excellent materials to work with. 🙏🏻
you should definitely make this a series. great idea!
Super fun
Dang brutha, how generous of you. Thx
Wow... I´m feeling so motivated right now!!! Thanks Bob
What a great idea! Nice!
Super Bob!
Really inspiring. Love this song (played it years ago and I noticed it was somewhere in my system still) and the opportunity to just sit in together and pick up on your ideas as they develop. Great way to practice
Loved it thanks so much
Really cool idea!
wish the monolithic saxophonic BOB standing astride aside the chart spent more time during my solos just vibing me relentlessly.
Been working on this song with my sax professor, and this is a great help. I have a good time practicing the changes, but sometimes it gets boring on my own. It really does make a difference when you can hear somebody else's playing and try to bounce off of that once your chorus is in.
So helpful, to practise starting a solo well picking from the last guy and to finish well to allow the next soloist room is so valuable. I was taught to try to pick up a lick from the previous solo; each of your sections were so distinct, easy to follow (I say easy, not easy, just lots to go on!). Thanks Bob - please make more of these trading vids, they're excellent.
Very cool and inspirant. Thank you.
Muy bueno!!!!
bob, as a struggling guitarist, this is great for me.. to learn how solos are constructed👍
this was awesome. thanks!
Just sitting here scatting with the video is fun, can't wait to get the horn out. These are great Bob, definitely would love more! THANK YOU!
Thanks for this! Really cool idea!

I don't get much time to practice, but will definitely give this one a go! Thanks Bob, always an inspiration.
Definitely fun and useful! Thank you!
Yes!
Fantastic trade video I would like to have some more 👏👏👏
This was so awesome, thanks for posting this!
Cheers, that was fun
VERY helpful!! You play wonderfully, so that's an inspiration. You only ever get better an impov by playing live . . . this is the next best thing! Enjoyed playing with (on in my sad case, against) you!
More of this. Playalong series
Great video! Thanks for posting it! This helped me get back into the swing of things and inspired some fresh ideas.
Love your content! This video keeps me from just “noodling” on changes. Thanks.
