    I love how Rener is coaching Ryron from the side and Ryron listens and follows his instruction. That's a lot of respect and trust right there.

    I train at a Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy and we have guys compete in tournaments all the time and they WIN so i dunno what Patolento is talking about. Our main focus is self defense, but our blue, purple, and brown belt guys do very well in tournaments.

    Both these guys are great but i still gotta go with Ryron...he isnt the best BJJ point fighter but i would take him in any street fight that went to the ground...over this guy for sure.... Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for life !

    the gi makes u better. the gi is tricky. I love the no-gi game n i trained just nogi for my first year n a half of bjj career and after about 2 or 3 months with the gi my nogi got exponentially better. In the ADCC which is like nogi olympics, every champ trains mainly in the gi, this is fact. Who do you think has a better back defense? the guy who can defend the rnc and the armbar or the one who can defend the rnc, armbar, bow n arrow, hangman, the conventional double collar choke, etc.

    Royler is a 4 time World Champion in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He is also the son of Helio Gracie who developed Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. There is no reason you can't practice both and be the best at both worlds, as is Royler. Its just a matter of what the individual chooses. I can first hand tell you that 6 time World Champion Xande Ribeiro has never been in a street fight but I know that there are very few people in the world who would have a chance with him in one. And Ryron is the man!

  • @GorgeousGeorge121
    @GorgeousGeorge121 12 лет назад +1

    Just goes to show, man: if you do Gracie Jiu Jitsu all your life, then teach and train it professionally all your adult life, you can be a more than adequate average competitor.
    ...plus you're street lethal, for all them street-fights everyone is always getting into (I can't go to get a bottle of milk from the corner shop without having to slam someone who jumps guard on me...).
    F the haters!

    Cassio's the man & has a lineage that goes back to the Gracie's. unlike his opponent he didn't start training BJJ before he could walk. & without the GI I'm sure the fight would have been different. for most of the ways he got swept were because of the belt he was wearing & for there "street style GJJ", Ryron surly depended on the GI for Most of the techniques that he was able to pull off against the World Champion of 03'. A title Ryron can't claim because of the pressure of losing is to great.

  • @jp1506
    @jp1506 13 лет назад

    no, cassio is an amazing practitioner too, it shouldn't have been easy even for ryron. that being said, ryron dominated that fight, controlling cassio in terms of position. If the fight were to continue, I believe ryron would have won that fight (not that it matters at the tournament, but still).

  • @Zenitself
    @Zenitself 12 лет назад

    Well, the main point is that if you got in a real fight, you wouldn't know what to do if you got punched.
    Which isn't necessarily true, but I think keeping that possibility in mind is better than training only with the grappling no-hitting mentality alone.
    And the Gracies would agree with me when I say that you should have both sport and street mindsets and training.

  • @SuperSneakySteve

    They should turn off the White Zombie album and just let them concentrate on fighting.

  • @gutrupture

    dont get me wrong when i say ryron is a phenomenal grappler,
    yet when you think he's been rollin since he can walk, he's got about 15 years on anyone else he shouldn't be getting taken the distance.
    fair comment ??

    @patolento No i train Gracie Jiu-Jitsu which was designed for self defense...ie a street fight..I have trained at what i call a "BJJ Sport school" which teaches techniques that are only good for offical BJJ rules not self defense and a street fight. Training at a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu academy is totally different... I dont have the exact quote but as helio gracie said...modern bjj isnt true jiu jitsu, its focuses arent the same as original jiu jitsu, my jiu jitsu

    @patolento Yeah i don't think I'm bad ass and i don't go looking for fights or anything. All i mean is that i do Jiu-Jitsu for self defense primarily and because i enjoy it...I'm just not into tournaments and learning techniques that only work in a BJJ gi on tournament. But i still respect people that compete and do it for tournaments, its really whatever is important to you and what you enjoy.... BJJ for life

    Listen, I never said we had any WORLD CHAMPIONS. YOU said we couldn't compete against sports jiu jitsu guys which it totally false. I have done it. Other guys in the academy have done it. You have a video here of one of the teachers of Gracie Jiu Jitsu beating a pretty good sport guy and you mouth off about it not being able to compete at all with sport Jiu Jitsu? Come on bro. Don't tell me what i can and can't do or what i should do. You don't know me.

    @kanguesso Pretty close. If your name isn't Roger Gracie or Jacare you're probably gonna lose. Ryron might be the best in the world in a roll until submission, but unfortunately they're not too big on sport JJ.

  • @TheM3Habib

    Kids today -esp 12 to 20 batch -behave like little pricks.
    For them, sense of humor doesn't mean intelligent comedy but making fun of others. These brats have become so insecure and 'Wannabees' that they have lost sense of their individuality. A person can only rise if he balances the world and his individual self, he keeps his emotions in check & charts his own course. This generation is totally opposite of this. They don't have a check on their emotions.They are weak in their minds and souls.
