This Story Time narration about Grandma Moses made me feel nostalgic. When I was a child, Moses was still alive. I was born and raised in Windham and Gorham, Maine and I can identify with the subject matter in the paintings, though by the 1950s, much of what she painted had long since past away from daily living in New England and New York. Where she would have experienced crop foods and other commodities delivered in horse-drawn wagons, I remember, in the afternoons, old Ford and Chevy panel trucks packed with ice and loaded with garden produce or freshly-caught sea food driving up to our large, log cabin home on Windham Hill. My mother would make her purchases for the week from the truckers. These foods would be supplemented with goat's milk from our goats, chicken meat and eggs from our chickens, and vegetables from our garden. For the latter part of my life, I've lived in Southwestern Utah amidst some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Though 71 years old, I've decided to take up chalk painting and create pictures of both Maine and Utah. Thanks for the wonderful story!

First time seeing this. Great story and what a remarkable woman. Its never too late to do what you love. i gurantee behind every single piece of art was a smile from this lovely lady. Would love to have been able to watch a video of her just talking about her work.
Also i chuckled when i seen the tape over the mini statue on the wall.

Another video I watched said that she only had summer school, because New York was a cold state to live in, and she didn't have any clothes that would have kept her warm in the cold.
Arthritis? I could have sworn it was rheumatism. Are those the same thing?

I lived 7 miles from Grandma, and sat on her lap and listed to her story when she came to my fifth grade class at the request of her great great granddaughter, a classmate of mine. She was born in Greenwich (GREEN-WITCH, not GREN-ITCH) and lived in Eagle Bridge, NY.
