1. Ryuzo Torii (鳥居 龍藏; May 4, 1870 - January 14, 1953) was a Japanese anthropologist, ethnologist, archaeologist, and folklorist. TIn 1895, TIU(Tokyo Imperial University) sent Torii to Northeast China to the Liaodong Peninsula, his first overseas posting. In 1896, the university sent Torii to Taiwan.
Ryuzo Torii visited China in 1903 (Meiji 40) and left China in 1908. Later, archaeologists Hamada Kosaku and Mizuno Seiichi entered China with the Japanese army. 2.The name "Hongshan Culture" has an interesting story behind it. Yin Da requested Liang Siyong to review his paper "The Neolithic Age of China" and write a preface. At Liang Siyong's suggestion, Yin Da wrote an additional chapter titled "On the Neolithic Sites of Chifeng Hongshan."
