    The numbers mason…. What do they mean!

    • @Richard-g4u1r
      @Richard-g4u1r 11 месяцев назад

      - denotes the betting favorite, + denotes the betting underdog. Whatever the numbers, place a . between the second digit from the right and the third digit from the right. So, for example, -150 would become -1.50, +275 would become +2.75, -525 would become -5.25, +1200 would become +12.00, -1500 would become -15.00, etc. Consider the - (minus) sign to be a ÷ (divided by) sign, and the + (plus) sign to be a x (multiplied by) sign. So if you bet (for example) $100 on a -3.50 favorite and won, you'd collect $128.60 , which would be your profit of $28.60 ($100 divided by 3.5) (casinos usually round payments up to the next-highest increment of $0.05) plus your $100 bet returned to you. Simple. (After a little while.) If you bet (for example) $100 on a +1.90 underdog and won, you'd collect $290, which would be your profit of $190 ($100 x 1.90) plus your $100 bet returned to you. And so on. By the way, mathematicians say that the only bets which it's mathematically correct to parlay are money line bets on (theoretically, of course, before the events begin) strong to can't-lose favorites.

    My question is if my team is -500 as the favorite on the money line and I only want to bet $50 on them, how much would I lose if the favorite loses?

      And if the favorite wins?

    • @Richard-g4u1r
      @Richard-g4u1r День назад

      If the team or individual or whatever you made a moneyline bet on loses, you lose 100% of the money you bet. Whatever the odds you bet at and whether you bet on the favorite or on the underdog. The minimum bet size allowed is $5, on any type of event, in every sports book in the USA, as far as I know. The maximum bet sizes allowed vary wildly, depending on the events on which, and the sports books in which, and the odds at which, one is betting.

      Negative number means you need to bet that much to win $100.
      Positive number means you win that much if you bet $100
      -115 = Bet $115, win $100 (payout is $215)
      +115 = Bet $100, win $115 (payout is $215)
