I still remember after a stellar partnership between Warner and Bairstow that the very next season, both players were unavailable for SRH for first 3-4 games due to Ashes, and this is when SRH realized there were lot of issues with ECB. Before Bairstow SRH had Alex Hales, even with him, there were issues with ECB. Finally, SRH, after the Ashes Fiasco , decided to invest more in South African and New Zealand players also whose boards did not schedule a series or matches during the IPL window. Punjab is making the same mistakes SRH made back in the day by overly relying on English players. Not to mention, even with Australian players, it's the same, but once you invest in other players from South Africa and New Zealand then it becomes easy to replace them when they are unavailable but if you put all your eggs in English and Australian basket then you are screwed. I even remember in last years auction analysts were melting down over SRH not buying Ben Stokes but I guess they have their answer now, look at Punjab.

RR won 8 out of thier first 9 games only and people saw them winning easily 11-12 games atleast to reach the playoffs and win the title. Whereas RCB like always was trolled heavily, they lost 7 out of their 8 games and the whole team just could not believe what is happening with them, they did not know how to win and it was seeming difficult that they will even finish 9th. From there RR could not win even 1 game out of their last 5 and finished 3rd when they should have finished 1st easily and RCB actually ended up winning 6 out of 6 that too dominantly with a good NRR when each and every person even they themselves ruled their team out. Even the luck supported them that everything happened according to them, a must win game that could have been washed out according to the forecast did not end up losing a single over and they beat that team who has almost everytime defeated them. Believe it or not that win vs CSK was too special as we have never seen this kind of comeback in the history of any cricket tournament, leave IPL.
