  • Sit yourself down with a drink - tea, coffee, heck even a cold beer and get ready for a half-hour of history. In a first for my youtube channel, I will be taking you on a guided tour of Housesteads Roman fort on Hadrian's wall - dressed as a Roman solider - and telling you the story of this amazing site. I can't wait to share the history with you!

I like that your walk in Roman gear along the wall is experimental archaeology in that you're able to actually testify as to the necessity of the baths

Oh I think they were a lot more vital than people realise, not just social but medicinal too!

Smashing video Alex! We were there in 2021 and it really is worth a visit ... I'm certain it would be even better with a knowledgeable guide like you!

Thanks Ruadh! I feel I only scratched the surface and that was in half an hour!! I love being able to go into the nuances!

Intetesting, that was quite a large complex. ❤

Its really quite large but its only the 5th Lagest on Hadrian's wall. Sadly the first and second have been entirely destroyed! Birdoswald and South Shields (Arbeia) are still well preserved and Housesteads is good but was hit hard by Victorian archeologists!

It's a English Heritage site - you can buy a ticket and walk all around it. All are welcome!
