Turning my Yeti Smart Bench into a giant plotter is a brilliant idea! However I have a Mac, so Vetric is not available to me. As a work around I've had great results with Carbide Create for cncing (far less confusing than Fusion360) Do you think stylus would work with Carbide Create? and also could it handle engraving soft metal with the right cutter?
Thanks Julian, I’m sure it would be usable with your software. For pen plotting we use profile and pocket tool paths, and for vinyl cutting we use the drag knife gadget in Vectric. We haven’t tried soft metals but I imagine there would be too much friction which could cause breakage. CNC stylus had been designed for just cutting vinyl.
All of that precision only to rely on the human eye for setting the Z axis. 😔
Can Smart Bench be used to cut fabrics or leather?
Superb idea and addition to the SmartBench! Can I already find an explanation for how to setup the drag knife in Fusion?
Hi Sibe - Thanks for the feedback. As far as I'm aware, Fusion does not have a drag knife toolpath specifically. Maybe you can ask them directly?
