My father after he retired from the military had some pretty severe sleeping, after a weird conversation went from his time serving, to asmr and how he doesn't like it, because it won't help him sleep. I suggested this video (as i myself find it quite soothing) He woke up the next morning looking like a whole new man, he said it was the best sleep he's had in years. I don't know if I should be happy or sad that the sounds of men screaming and gunfire ripping past him soothed him, and helped him sleep.
Well...this video doesn't have men screaming...I think it's more accurate to say hearing gunfires from distance is the sound that relaxes him + bonfire... Quiet ambience and no sound at all is worse I think as he can just imagine the past instead of distracting himself with the sound of gunfires instead...all I just wanna say if it works then I think you should just be glad with that, if we ourselves find it soothing doesn't mean he shouldn't too
Because sounds like this means safety for an infantry man. I always watch this when I am doing my school stuff and my grand dad suddenly ask what I was listening too, he was an infantry man who fought in frontlines. I asked him if this is realistic or is this close to real war fight, he said "you're still couple of kilometers from your death spot, they might be chilling at that point if this what they're hearing.
During training i slowly grew accustomed to falling asleep to rounds popping off in the backround this really helped me normal out when not in the field
A siege happened in my city years ago, i was scared, yes but at the same time comforted by the distant gunshots like this one. I don't know why but I find war sounds soothing (for me tho). (also the siege/war happened on my bday lol)
@@ludwigvanbeethoven3962 From "They shall not pass", and I played Bf1 for like 3500h, and I'm pretty sure that's the church and behind there's the French spawn

I have readed during ww1, artillery fire could be heared within the distance of 200 kilometers and more. sounded similar to a thunderstorm, but not excatly like a thunderstorm.

Ahh, Yes.. The sounds of being drenched in mud constantly looking over your shoulder with your Mosin-Nagant aimed at each direction you look with severe PTSD and seeing nothing but bodies across the fields with the fear of a sniper clocking your brains out in seconds.
@Matthew Ritter perhaps also that constant noise. Same effect as being on a train journey. As long as its going the sound of the train. When it stopped for more than 5 mins I always woke up because this continuous effect of a train in motion is gone. Guess those guys woke up when there was nothing at all for some time. In a certain volume it is indeed rather soothing than scaring. Guess even artillery fire would have this effect (only it was not trained on your trench ofc ;) )
Here is the original: ruclips.net/video/Ul9Da5c2UXw/видео.html The gunfire and artillery noises were stolen from that video. The only thing he did to it was added the fire and flames sound effect.
In the description you say that your vid help with soothing a baby ummm unless the baby is russian I dont think any baby is going to be soothed by the distant sound of rounds and arty going back and forth lol still good vid tho lol
@ocj decato you asked a while ago, but ill still share anyways: i didnt dream during this, rather i was in a constant state of "tipping over" where i was awake and "on the ledge" but i was also asleep and "falling asleep". And it's odd because i can remember dreams that i had from ~4 years ago. So i cant exactly say.

I would probably assume that from his perspective, hearing this means he's safe, distant gunfire and not heavy upclose gunfire

Why is this kinda soothing?
Gunshots can sound like large tree branches moving louder noises like thunder and rocks falling or cracking. Maybe it’s just part of our nature.
