Great video. I’m a otr driver as we speak. I’m taking a learn as you go course to become freight agent. I wanna build my own book of business as I still work. What are your thoughts on that? How can I find brokerages in California that hire new agents?? Thank you guys I love your content.

So I am actually in the final interview for a bigger freight brokerage. Salary is 40k plus uncapped commission. I have been in sales for almost 20 years now. My question is in regards to prospecting this company does not really provide anything like carrier check to build your pipeline. They rely on Google etc. I do not have any idea what the price for e carrier check is but would it make sense for a new broker to use something like this or use Google or even a combination of both?

@misterliquidcity I would use both personally. Sounds like you understand the sales process. So grind it out.. build that pipeline. You really only need 1 to 5 accounts to get off your feet.
      Good luck on the interview!

As an asset based carrier having been in business for 8 years, im thinking about just coming over to the dark side. Why invest (in my case when i started) over $150,000 to get into logistics when i can just look into brokering and wont have the fuel, maintenance and insurance bills? Not to mention the time away from family which causes you to lose said family and the 18hr days which isnt easily maintined once you start to age. Being an asset based carrier doesn't make sense anymore 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Would love for you guys to use your platform on LinkedIn & RUclips to help attract brokers willing to hire newer folks interested in getting into being a broker. Especially for people with some logistics & sales background who are hungry to put in the work but work from home.

It depends on how much they rip off truck drivers

They making that high number salary because they are lying to the carrier if a load is a 1000 they telling the carrier that is 400. If the carrier ask for the transaction pw they cut them off. They business is dirty right now and need some correction both carriers and brokers can make money but the thing is the Carriers can’t see what actual being paid and it’s not
regulated to help the carriers. Broker don’t care but going to happen when the market get flooded with brokers 🤷🏼‍♂️

@bobbyblue1865 There are dirty people in EVERY INDUSTRY, yes moreso in Sales...but there are good people as well. I am a newer broker agent, but I tell my customer & carrier the truth about the rates. I tell them what I am making, but brokers are not allowed to send any proof bkuz those documents would just hand over any customer for a driver or carrier to take later.
I offer quality rates for quality service...but I ain't doing it for free & I ain't gonna just hand my customer over to a carrier either bkuz I work damn hard to get & keep my customers & drivers happy. I handle my book from cradle to grave, so I monitor everything plus do all the calls & set up. It sounds easy, but I promise you it's harder than it sounds.
