Maytag washers were made in Newton Iowa near me. I met the guy who designed the oscillating transmission that agitates the clothes. He had a wooden model of it on his office shelf.
The typewriter is a Remington Standard No.12, 1920's. Valued between $100-$1,200, depending on condition. The Organ's are Galaxy's, 1960's. Not worth much, whatever you could get for them.😊 The stove is a brand called "Home Comfort", 1910 or there about. $1,000 bucks or so. No need to rush your rides. Enjoy each moment. Thank You for sharing this old house/business, very cool. Keep The Shiny Side Up Brother! ✌️
That house is from the 50's for sure. The pink counter top and backsplash give it away. That was a very interesting house. Lots of money in those antiques. The fact that the roof wasn't caved in is a testament to building quality. As former roofer, I'm surprised Scotty didn't mention it. Thankfully that roof has preserved all of that cool shit!
Scotty lm rideing Australia on my 94 FLSTN so far l have done 1400 miles l have taken a leaf out of your travels & pull up early & make the most of every thing...lm 61 & have learnt a lot from your vids on long haul rides lm now doing the ride l have never done before.... thank you so much.. never to old to learn cheers from Down Under
So sad. God bless. 🙏 Any idea what the story is concerning the person (one of the photographs looked like Mother and Son) who was packing the suitcase and framed photographs?
Hey Scotty...yes, the tank behind the wood stove is a domestic hot water tank. We had one in my kitchen when I was a kid. We burnt wood & coal and the stove heated the water. Gpood memories seeing this in your video. Thanks for all your great video's...stay safe.
It's a shame that nobody has saved any of that cool old stuff. That old wood stove/water heater will be priceless before long, the way things are going. As long as you have a saw, an ax, and a strong back, you could stay warm and clean . There's no telling how much that family could get for something like that typewriter and all those other things you found in that time capsule of a place!
It’s so nice to see there are still places in this country where people respect others property. I live in Maryland and I can guarantee that building would be picked clean or vandalized in no time. Thanks for sharing Scotty I live my dream life through your videos. You take care and stay safe bud.
What a walk back into time! The fact that the interior is in such pristine condition and dry is a testament to the build quality of that Roof!! Causes one to wonder who these folks were and what became of them and their family. Missed this video first time around, glad you brought it back around🤙
Great video!! I love that wood burning kitchen stove!! I once had an Old hickory 1904 wood burner and it had a bred heater up above!! And yes it heated up all that water kind of like a still with water circulation!! Way cool!!! 👍 That place might have been a brothel!! 🤔
Hey Scotty I met you in Sturgis this last year that washing machine could be possibly mid-50s. I seen one at a local auction that was brand new the man bought it for his wife in 1954 she passed away and he never even took the tags or used it. Their children brought it to the auction what a shame. I am a little older than you and back in the sixties I would help my mother we washed lots of clothes they never seem to wear out. I like that stuff you find in your travels. Take care will probably see you in Sturgis this year
I have never seen a type writter so massive. Man some old school interesting items. Love the wood burning stove and hot water heater setup and the 8tracks awesome 👍👍👍👍
These are honestly my favorite format of your videos. Judging by the old picture of the couple, they were born/raised during the depression. If there were clothes hanging up it the main bedroom closet, I would check the pockets.
Scotty; Always enjoy your older videos. Looking forward to next video, old or new. Finally warmed up here. My ole Harley and me is READY TO RUN!!!!!!!!!!! as soon as warmer weather breaks!!! God Bless safe ridin rubber down
Thank you Scotty, some good stuff! My father had that typewriter, and all the other things, I'm sure vintage, adding machine, washer, doll, bedding, etc., and would be worth something today. Appreciated the tour! Hell's Kitchen NYC.
Gday mate I'm of a generation down here in NZ that grew up where all our hot water came off the wet back on our wood stove at home, the old girl cooked everything on it from cakes, scones, biscuits abd sometimes bread Us kids all had to take turns splitting and bringing in Wood for the stove yeah simpler times but good.
@@scootertrampscotty Back Boilers are still really popular in temperate climates, if you need to run a stove or open fire, a Back Boiler (a shallow steel box the cold water feeds into and the temperature of the water pushes it around the system, to your immersion tank, taps, and radiators take care of excess..) makes the most of what you're burning.
The type writer more like the 20 s to 40. If it was later the return handle would be on the other side I bet if u would have pulled the stove plate up u would have found it was a wood stove that had been converted to gas. This was done a lot. Then they ran gas supply to hot water tank. The wash machine was more like 30s or 40s. I base this on the square drumb. Was it electric? A lot of was machines back then had a small gasoline motor. Great vid! Thanks
Yeah but definitely heated the water through the wood burning stove. Today we use a furnace to heat the water in a tank to have hot water how old is New again

Amazing how all the beds were made and clean, almost spooky in a way

Kool old house
I enjoy just riding for the experience, not for a planned ride. I like this shorter video. Thanks.
Love it when you find these old abandoned houses ,always fascinates me when they are full of stuff its like a time capsule
The mystery is always the fun part 😊

Gotta love those Virginia storms. Southern Va is some beautiful country. I believe I wrote the same thing the last time I saw you in Va.
There's some orbs flying about when you were at the old typewriter 8.29 (Spooky )
Hey Scotty, that typewriter was made from 1922 - 1943 in case you haven't had any info about it pop up.
Well done , as usual Brother.
Just ordered your book. Not one for reading but something told me it would be interesting.

Should have took the register probably worth a lot of money in an antique store lol
I learned to type on that typewriter in the early 60s
Geezer! 😊
Someone was staying there besides you. That bedroom.
They had big families back then. Needed lots of bedrooms
