That can be explained as Drayton getting more insane and starting to like killing and eating people in the years between the first and second films whereas before he did it because he believed cannibalism was the only way he and his family could survive.
Not scary at all. Plays with your head with the atmosphere and such but scary I'd say no. As far as a remake or reboot goes my thought would have been a scene by scene set in modern day back when they did the 2003 remake. If handled right it could have worked I think
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Shining are tied for my favorite horror film. I think I like TCM even more simply because of how realistic and gritty the film is.
Ik it's an unusual opinion but I hate the shining it's 1 of the only Stephen king story adaptations that I don't like for me it's just a boring movie it's to slow for a horror movie but that's just my opinion everybody got different opinions
Showed my mom this movie for the first time the other day and she found it...bizarre. She said she wouldn't watch it again but was glad she saw it once.
I keep trying to get my parents to watch it for the simple fact that it is one of my biggest visual inspirations and might help them understand how I think about making films. But they won't even though I'm sure they'd be completely grossed out and disappointed.
Popping out one of the lenses of those 70s sunglasses to make them look like an eyepatch was fucking genius. I absolutely love your costume and look in your videos. Also love that particular iteration of the Wolfman's mask, very shaggy and classic looking. The whole thing is sick dude.
I've always felt that the guy washing the van at the gas station, should've been a part of the family. He definitely should've been featured in the dinner scene.

Hate to be the douche to respond to a year old comment BUT that situation seems similar to The Evil Dead where they used a real gun with real bullets on set.
They were in more danger from that hot, disgusting house than the chainsaw and sledge hammer. Check out the documentary on the movie, it was a brutal shoot for everyone involved.

Bruh, this analyzation is 100%! I’ve always had this feeling about this film that I couldn’t quite put into words. I find this film to be raw yet not that much gore is seen. Also if you watch this in VHS format it gives it a more grit feel. Truly one of your best works right here! I would like to watch a commentary by you as you stream this movie, it would be so entertaining.
Tobe Hooper was a great man. The horror industry since has not been the same without him. He is very sadly missed, ...and his films will be forever fondly re-visited.

I've seen this movie so many times even some scene make me feel uncomfortable even when I know they're coming like the chase scene and the dinner scene, kinda like JAWS, I've seen it so many times yet Ben Gardner's Boat scene and (spoiler) Quint's death scene still makes me feel uncomfortable. Because those two movies are great and do a good job at building suspence to a pay-off and the jumpscare's aren't forced like many movies these days. I guess the 70's were just great times for horror.
I just love your channel! TCM is one of my all time favs too. First saw it on VHS in the 80s. The atmosphere is almost overwhelming and like Jaws... it’s what you don’t see that scared me the most! Thanks for another great entry!
8:30 that 'ol Rambling drunk fellow in the cemetery is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. I've impersonated him many times over the years, laying on the ground saying his quote, disturbing many friends, family, & pets. Nobody knows what to make of his dialogue.
Just saw it at the Alamo Draft House on the big screen last Friday. Hadn't seen it in probably 25 years. Not so much scary and bloody as it is disturbing. You just felt uncomfortable the entire time watching it. Loved your review.

Im from Texas. This was one of those films that scarred me during the daytime because one day i was walking from work to home on the edge of the trinity river and there were some hillfolk living nearby and i heard some gunshots so i ran for my life thinking the worst
BEST horror film ever!!!! I've seen a lot of horror films,....and I like a lot of horror films. I am 41 now and grew up in the VHS movie rental age of the 1980's. I am often asked what my all time favorite horror film is. And I never even have to think hard about it. Its easily the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre!!! And Dr. Wolfula's review is the BEST review on it! He nails all the reasons why this film was and still IS so very effective!!! I was fortunate enough to meet nearly all of the cast members of this film! I feel so grateful! Thank you for this review!

The hitchhiker had a birth mark on his face, not blood. The guy at the gas station was a window washer, not a car washer. gas stations back in the day often had a guy to wash your windshield, check your oil and fill your gas tank.

Paul Parte was a method actor. He stayed in character even outside the filing, so the other cast and crew thought he was really like that and disliked him for it. Years later during a small reunion they found out he was a method actor and was actually pretty mature

I always crack up when grandpa started to dance a jig ( mostly just move his hands around ) when he tasted blood.
Didn’t think my night would get any better until I got this notification of a NEW Doctor Wolfula video.
I always wondered how many people the Sawyers had killed and eaten before the events of the 1st film.
It didn't seem like they killed a lot, it seemed rather ritualized and random times that they killed.
