THAT. WAS. AMAZING. i love her so much!!! such a beautiful dancer.
She has SO MUCH control over her body! Woooow!
Hometown pride! I met Alicia back in 3rd grade and she really is this awesome in person.
When she hits that arabesque and the room becomes so light ugh just gorgeous! I love her long legs
I really like how she isn't wearing pointe shoes. I'm not the best pointe dancer in my studio, and I don't think I ever will be. She showed me that you can still be an amazing dancer even if you're not the best at pointe. Really inspiring!
What a strong, beautiful woman you can tell she loves to dance. What a joy to watch.
Absolutely beautiful! No better advice a mother can give her child. Beautiful.
OMG - I am uplifted and delighted to have watched someone with such skill in movement and expression - everything about her is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
What an absolutely stunning woman! May she be an inspiration to all!
Everything about her is stunning.
i love Anaheim Ballet. they always tell us to love us for who we are and to express it through our dancing. You have no idea the support and confidence they have given me.
Im short, and with a lot of muscles. And im so proud.
Thank you Anaheim Ballet
Dear @AnaheimBallet, I just want to thank you for all the great videos you've posted online and all the inspiring and sweet messages people bring in the vids of Anaheim Ballet. I'm just thankful of discovering you guys on RUclips! May you all be blessed :)
What beautiful lines! Who knows, if I'd had role models like Alicia and Misty Copeland around when I was younger, maybe I would have kept up with dancing. Oh well, let them inspire the next generation of tall and atypically shaped (but still lovely) dancers :)
gosh ... her lines are incredible ..
She is incredible! I can't even put into words... I feel so inspired!!! I'm watching this again
Ohh my gosh I met her when I saw an Ailey performance last week! She's gorgeous :D
This is the single most inspiring woman, to me. Everything she said, everything she does, everything she stands for. *shivers* I pray every dancer who's as in love with their craft as this woman is, and gets as injured as this woman has been, takes it as well as she has, and does as much with it as she does.
0:48-0:52 beautiful
she's beautiful inside and out
Fabulous! She moves just so gracefully.
Beautiful! Her uncle was my professor in grad school, small world :)
She has amazing turn out, emotions, extensions and turns :)
Wow. That's all I can say. I have no words for this. That was beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful and completely inspiring. It took me over half the video to realize that she wasn't even on pointe. She isn't just another airhead, you can tell that there is depth to every movement she makes, something that just multiplies the quality of her dancing. Lovely! :)
Just like to say as well that I always love Anaheim Ballet's videos. :D
I LOVE LOVE your guest star videos!
I just saw her in the Alvin Ailey dance company in Detroit for their dress rehearsal. She's amazing.
loved the saying "don't shrink, you are who you are" i'm also very tall and it took me time to realize how good that is and that i shouldn't be afraid to stretch myself to the maximum.
Gorgeous absolutely stunning dancer :)

This was very inspiring to watch and to at your words really gives me hope that I'll dance the way I used to. I sprained my ankle almost 5 months ago, tore the ligaments and the calf muscle and caused a bone bruise. I've been in therapy twice a week for 4months and I'm still not where I was :/ I'm starting to push harder these last few weeks on my own because I just live to dance! I will dance again better than before! Thank you for this video!

So proud to carry the same last name...From one dancer to the next :)
For the folks that asked about it, Ms. Graf was trained in ballet and was a memeber of a ballet company. She danced with the Dance Theater of Harlem before joining Alvin Ailey.
When most companies were in financial trouble DTH was as well. But where most would have cut community programs and reduced or cut their school in order to preserve the company DTH did the opposite. The founder, Arthur Mitchell, was dedicated to dance education for children who would normally never have a chance to have it, as well as reaching out to the community surrounding them, so it took priority. Though they believed it would only take a few months to recover financially and re-open the company. Instead it took a few years.
So, Ms. Graf and the other dancers had to find other places, black ballet dancers did not have many places to go at the time. So many quit and moved on to things other than dance. Others switched to modern or contemporary.
Ms. Graf auditioned for many American companies, but couldn't find a place, not even with NYCB who it would have been believed would be perfect as DTH's repertoire had a lot of Balanchine, as do most companies headed by former Balanchine dancers. But it wasn't. Many claimed that it had to do with her history of injuries. Who knows.
But happily, she eventually found a place with Alvin Ailey.
i love her.

I am very tall and I am a ballet dancer! My friends calls me giraffe. They keep saying "you never gonna find a ballet partner!"But look at her.She is amazing. I'll be amazing.
She looks really familiar to me. I wonder if she is the one that taught a master class in Houston, Texas. I was on my high school dance team, and we had the honor/privilege to take a master class from an Alvin Ailey dance, and I'm thinking it might be her. But it was so long ago I'm not certain. All I know is that it was and AMAZING experience!
I'm 5'10 too and I will come to your company only tell me when it's ready! :P

She danced with Dance Theater of Harlem Ballet company before she joined Alvin Ailey and switched to modern.
