It is good to hear Victoria Gold is working hard to contain any cyanide leakage. From their website the concentration of cyanide in the leaching water used is only .2% on average so very low. The water pumped to storm water ponds is processed in the water treatment plant separating gold and collecting the cyanide for reuse. The only water sample that returned slightly elevated was at the contained area onsite which is sent to the water treatment. Kudos to the workers onsite who took immediate action and risked their safety to mitigate this situation. I did not hear any of the parties giving them a shout out. They were either well trained or selfless. It is so easy to be critical. The community should acknowledge and be proud of their commitment.
very good statement. We all know that mining is a risky thing. All involved people, the regulators and the mine people did the best and continue to do.
I’ve worked there. Complete gong show. Safety issues everywhere. Watched a guy get fired on spot for questioning safety. This mine should be shut down until they can find a company to run it properly
@@ryanfriars545 Not great to hear that. From what I can see most startups have a lot of issues because of pressure to start making money. Due to labor shortages probably short on experienced workers as well. I did hear they had to raise salaries to try and reduce turnover. Many new mines competing for workers. of course covid sure did not help these guys and costs rose quickly. Thought they were finally figuring things out. Were things at least improving?
Reconciliation? We gone so WOKE, sad theses guys have to field theses silly questions. No one wants the environment affected no matter what your ethnicity is. As a tax payer let’s look at solutions to fix this. Victoria Gold plays a big part for GDP and employment.
They literally are silly. As they get in their cars and start their engines. Wash their dyed clothes from India in machines from China with water from the Yukon.
Guaranteed their were employees their that were well aware of the situation and they would have notified their supervisors. This is the smoke, mirrors, props and images stage.
I wonder if the stock price will soon return to the level prior to the slip at the mine. I think all those boring technical hearings are just relevant for journalist to write a lot of lies as they use to.
I believe that Vic Gold won't be able to recover from this slide. They don't have the funds to continue and it's a shame as close to 500 people are employed there.
Why are those in government that permitted, essentially 'Ok-ing' the facility at 0 fault? What is the point of all the red tape that delays mine construction in Canada if it's not preventing these very situations?
The tone of talk is so not inspiring any real trust things will be taken care of any better than they've already been, unfortunately. Ft Belnap, Montana. The Landorf Zandusky Mining Company way back, unbelievable environmental destruction they dug a hole big enough to dump an entire city in and the heavy metals poisoned the tribe there to severe sickness and death, the machines granted in the typical BS lawsuit didn't work worth damn, it was ugly. This all for one long bed pickup truck worth of gold. Eco Genocide and we're all on the Rez now!!! This will be shadow banned by those that always do as their told, the corruption is complete.
No, it’s mining. It happens. If you like your modern day life, you might understand if we don’t grow it or mine it, it doesn’t exist. I’m certain Victoria is doing everything in their power to mitigate this….no one wins in this situation.
no members of the FN standing up there. there might me less umssss and ahhhssss and i don't knows and "we have to protect the money" if there was one up there with them.

Thanks to APTN News for streaming this press conference. Cyanide contamination of the environment is unacceptable.
There are also apparently heavy metals, which I've only heard talked about once.
@@priestofreason4325ya gold, that’s the point.
You don’t know much about the environment I’m guessing.

Mount Polly incident, imperial metals was much worse and they recovered. I think it will take a while but it will recover

It’s a complicated business. It sounds like they loaded the leach area with to much material.
Completely missed the very first guys name. Good job

The only person who can fix this mess and save the Yukon is Taylor Swift
Run to failure.
Seen it a hundred times.
Sometimes the results are manageable.
Sometimes not!

It’s all about money!!! Well money won’t matter when we’re all dead!
How about hiring an ex inmate to help you navigate future prison life?? How is this acceptable?
Who will take over for free?
Well, it won’t be free. Whoever takes over this mine, will have to pay clean up fees. $2-300 million is what I’m hearing
This is a shameless company, not the first time!!!

Any substantive proof?
Got anything useful or helpful to say?
@user-qr3ce5my3m Just the cost of doing business. It's a two way street. A million dollar bond Lol you guy's are paying for all the clean up costs.
