I picked up a bottle of Inchmurrin for £34 on Amazon. A fantastic bargain for a great dram. Very fruity, very delicious. I like a drop of water with this one 🍊🍏🍌
last Week i had little Go around the Peaty Side of Loch Lomond by trying some Inchmoans, Inchfads and Croftengeas which are all differently Peated Loch Lomond Single Malts. And all where at least good. They are doing a great Job there since the Owner changes a few Years ago. So does Glen Scotia as well. Great Stuff for affordable Prices. Thanks for sharing your Opinion about these two Bottlings. Greetings from Germany 😎🤘
I have read some criticism of LL for their manner of warehousing. They "palletise" their casks, i.e. store them on their ends rather than their sides for reasons of warehousing "efficiency" (space/stacking). That in itself is understandable, but there are "side-effects" in terms of temperature control, manner of bung-sealing, and perhaps other factors--not certain but I think one of Ralfy's vids addressed this at some length, and the claimed consequences for whisky taste. The warehouses are (therefore?) also not "dunnage", i.e. earthen floor with the claimed contribution that makes to whisky taste. Those less-efficient warehousing techniques do, however, have an impact not only on taste but also on cost/price. I've recently purchased a few LL bottles that I've yet to open (too many already open), and had one small taste (in a shop) of Inchmoan 12 which seemed sadly artificial and parodic/contrived in character--but it was also after trying Ardnamurchan 10.22 Madeira cask so a *very* difficult (unplanned/unfair) comparison. One reads that *some* LL bottlings have some of the savoury/earthy/funky/"interesting" things I often look for/tend to relish in whiskies. Not a criticism, just curious: why only compare Inchmoan and Inchmurrin 12s? Why not also compare the LL 12 which I've read is "lightly"-peated? Yes, alright, can't compare everything. Thanks for the vid.
Hey jbar! Appreciate the detailed info re the LL warehouse. Let me do some research into that. And as to why I didn't review the regular 12 along with these two the simple answer is I had drunk it and it was over - so nothing left to compare.
I like LL very much and was privileged to get a private tour in 2017. I think the single malts are all distilled in the pot still side of the plant (which is what it looks like LOL), so I was a bit confused when you said they used all three still types to make single malt.
I'm going to have to go back to my notes but I think the Inchmoan was made using the traditional swan neck pot still and the straight neck if I'm not mistaken.
This is the review we didn't know we needed 😃 Brilliant dude and yes I agree with you, Loch Lomond does decent decent stuff and the beeest part is in my market this one is at 37 pounds 😁
Unless they've changed it very recently (and there is hope after the recent GS Double Cask - Rum Cask release was released with no added colouring) Michael Henry confirmed on Aquavitae's channel that there is colouring in LL and GS whiskies.
From where did you get it that they are not colored? I believe they both still are (Loch Lomond group announced they will gradually go away from coloring). Especially if it was bottled in 2020
Hi Activist, by loch lomond stills you probably mean lomond stills. I don't think that inchmoan and inchmurrin have the juice from all three stills they are using in distillery. If I am correct it couldn't be sold as single malts then.
Both of these whiskies are such a delight. 🥃🥃
True!
I think they are coloured. Thanks for the review 😊

Cheers my brother!
The regular LL12 is such a delight so I can totally imagine these two to be just as good or better. Excellent take on the LL12 releases MA.
Cheers my brother
The Inchmoan is one of the best peated whiskies ever. It's nowhere near as punchy as an octomore, but it has a comparable variety of peat complexity
It certainly does!
Tasted both. Super Whiskies both, but if I have pick one, will go for the Inchmoan. Found the Inchmurrin over fruity. Great review! 🥃🥃
Cheers!
I think Loch Lomond group owns Glen Scotia,
You're right - I was going to say Glengyle but then I was like.. nope

I'll take your word for it

Based on my research though there seem to be conflicting reports
@@MaltActivist Pretty sure in 2020 at least they were using a bit of colour.
@@triplecap4307 You're probably right

hmmmm lemme have a look
Awesome review 🥃🥃
thank you sanjeev!
I have the peated version solid whisky for the price. Cheers bro. Do a review on the Ardbeg BizzareBQ if you can get one.
Coming up shortly!
Did you watch it?
How about the Loch Lomond 12 in Duty free??
How about it? I think you should get it!
Loch lomond actually color their whisky it's not natural color
