This is one of the scariest horror series I've ever seen/experienced. Forgetting, worse - remembering.. when living in the limbo of amnesia is better than the alternative ... wow. Very well done. I've read the stories and enjoy them just as much, you take the essence of it and let it blossom in imagination. Big Koodos on casting, acting, direction, everything is perfect in this old SCP lover's heart.

@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar those 10 mins were better than 85% of what I watched on Amazon. Not in the last weeks. Or months. I mean. Ever. Please realize this. You (and with this I mean everyone involved in this) seem to have a VERY clear vision and also seem to have a very deep understanding of the SCP mythos and how to integrate every aspect of a production to make this (finally) a reality. Please, do not sell yourself under value.
Honestly I think this was pretty well done, given the circumstances. Without the budget of a company like Netflix or Amazon, it makes sense that you'd have to make compromises and change things for budgetary reasons. Like, having it be set on a farm instead of a lake was a pretty good compromise so you wouldn't have to rent a boat. While I understand why people might be disappointed, I'm just happy to have it, and for free on RUclips nonetheless!
This, in my opinion is the worst one of the 4 exactly because we had to cut down so much and make so much compromises because of what happened on set that day logistically
A fun side effect is that the studio has to be CREATIVE with what they got, and that tends to shine the most when they get it right. Cant wait for future episodes!
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicarYou’re too close, an artist’s habitual flaw. If this is the worst that’s wonderful, because it clears such a high bar. People think you made something amazing with what you had. @@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar if there are only 4 episodes, that means you're only be covering the Marion arc of the story? I can see why some says that the second half loses a bit of steam, but it'd be a shame not to have a closure.
The original wasn't just any boat, it was a tiny *rowboat*. Think about what that would look like: Every shot is on a long boom or a drone. You probably have a second, larger boat with the crew. The two boats are bobbing relative to each other, so you have to stabilize the image somehow. Getting the audio is a nightmare unless you use lavaliers, which will probably sound worse. You have to remove a ton of reflections in post. The actors can't/shouldn't wear visible floatation devices, so you have to figure something out in case the small boat capsizes. There are probably half a dozen other problems I didn't even think of. It just goes on and on and on. Cutting the lake and moving it to dry land is by far the most practical way to actually get usable footage on a reasonable time and budget.
The fact that Antimemetics has even been adapted is impressive by itself but something of this caliber from an indie project is nothing short of.... supernatural.....
I think on average the memetics division is worst because half the stuff they need to contain turns out to be an info hazard and so you might have dozens of presumably empty containment units and someone comes to put away a new scp and unleashs an info hazard they couldn't know about
I loved it. That little nod that marion "saw" something. And for me, the only explanation on why she "survives" is because she realized she had to forget and applied herself with amnestics that would trigger after certain time. She knew that something was wrong, so she left herself a way out, knowing that she could use her notebook to remember . But the monster came too fast, she was not able to write (just like in memorial), she knocked herself out (out of mind/out of sight like in memorial) and bam, she survived when the amnestics took effect. Of course, it happened, we just forgot about it. did it?
In the book she also wonders why she went all alone to see Marness, and then she realizes she wasn't alone. She had brought a whole team of agents, who are now dead and erased from history. "So, assuming the division was fully staffed before the event, maybe those empty roles are the people who died this time around. Maybe one of them activated the beacon. A commendable act, by someone now only known to exist because of that single act." But that is difficult to convey in the adaptation without a narrator.
The introduction of those short repeating moments as a “tell” for the audience that something is off was an inspired choice. I don’t remember that being in the source material but it works really well visually!
@ectoplasm12345 when he throws the 2 rocks into the pond, he actually only throws 1, and the 2 shots are looped, but cut not to look like a loop at first glance.
It's a shame you don't have a bigger budget, the antimemetics division stuff deserves full series adaptation, but you are doing awesome with what you have, hope to see more from you!
Should have started on episode 2 and convinced us all that episode 1 used to exist but due to an anomaly it was scrubbed from existence and then refused to elaborate
Been greatly anticipating this. EDIT: how is it so believable? SCP adaptations are almost always cheesy and campy, but this just plays it straight and is somehow still super legit. The fact that it's _Antimemetics_ of all canons makes that even more astounding. I still can't believe you made this.
In my opinion, it’s because it’s anti-memetics that it works. The other departments would have to rely on heavy cgi, because they’re dealing with physical monsters, or with things that affect a large area. But this affects the mind, it affects memories. So it’s easier to reproduce if you are good at what you’re doing, which of course, the studio definitely is!
@@djmewtwo6981 I agree, the horror is best left in imagination because to each the horror is different. As under described as it is, the better! (I see some said that's why Lovecraft works cos he just, doesn't really tell you about the horror?

Your division is dedicated to keep info-ish thingy contained but only to find the no.1 approach to do it is to erase your division. By doing so, it was contained but left a hole for those after you to look at... then the whole event repeat itself...
Andrea, I have no clue what constraints and issues there were filming and budgeting for this episode, but make no mistake, this was an INCREDIBLE episode. Short, sweet, amazingly captivating, and the ending was so good too! You know, if you ever want to make more SCP Films, I'm always looking to do more with Demasqed. Just hit me up if you feel so inclined, I bet we could make something incredible. 🥰
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar Demasqued is another Tales series on the wiki, but since Henzoid is a screenwriter, it's written in a script format. Pretty dope story from what I've read
Im someone who notices things and am a critic as much as i am an optimist, regardless of if i wanted to notice things or not. In that sense, i could tell that this episode wasnt what you wanted or hoped it to be, just from watching it, before i even saw your comment about it. With that in mind, i hope you are not being hard on yourselves about this. I understand the urge to sweep it along and downplay it and just push past. I have no doubt the other ones are up to your own standards. That doesnt make this not still of a commendable quality. Without the details i have no idea what setbacks you had or how you went about fixing them, but the love and the effort shines through despite the rough patches. I hope that you can see how much of your efforts we can see. It can be really tough to bake a cake and have it not come out right. All that time and effort you put in can feel wasted. But to frost it and decorate it and serve it anyways is a noble thing to do, and at the end of the day? Its still cake. And cake is damn tasty.
Okay, all of the comments are praising the episode and it's clear that they're all long term fans. Although I appreciate such support, I am here to give my unbiased feedback. I loved how the first episode was set up. I understand that there's a book that this series is based on, so there were some well written punchy lines throughout. I was pretty hyped to see that it was a series and I patiently waited for this episode. Only to be... Left with a bitter aftertaste. The premise of this episode is FANTASTIC. There's a dangerous entity that is hunting the division, but its power is proportional to the knowledge you have of it. There's a beautiful irony in the problem where the solution is quite the opposite of what the Director set out to do in the beginning of the episode. It was a great set up. But. Unfortunately, both the dialogues and the delivery lacked in comparison to the first episode. The actors seem to be narrating the lines without any rhythm or emotion. It's a very common problem that novice actors have - everything is, for a lack of a better term, rigid. Now, I understand the budget constraints, but you really should find someone who can consult you on execution part. That being said, I wish you all the best. Can't wait for ep 3!
Yeah the problem is that Netflix or other big corporations will almost certainly never take on SCP stuff because it's under creative commons. They can't buy, sell or otherwise own the rights to make SCP stuff and anything that they themselves make has to also be under Creative Commons as well. So they don't even own the exclusive rights to any new ideas they come up with for the verse. This is a great thing for the community because it means that anyone is allowed to build off of anyone else's work, and it still doesn't stop you from profiting off of your own work if you want to. But it's practically poison to Corporations. If Netflix makes an SCP show and it's successful, then Disney could come along and make another SCP show with even more money, and even use some of the ideas from the Netflix show without even having to ask them. And then Amazon could build off of the Disney show, and so on. I would love to see that, but Netflix, Disney, and Amazon would hate it. It'd be like if after Stranger Things first came out on Netflix, Disney was allowed to make "Stranger Things Season 2!" a year later
Again, thank you for bringing the Antimemetics Division Hub alive! But lots of valuable details are missing, and I don’t mean the CGI, which definitely is limited by the budget. There are other story elements and dialogue which could have been included: - El remembering Marion as Marion Hutchinson, not Wheeler; - Explaining the classification of mnestics and which class was used; - Marion realising something is off: alone without support (originally stranded on a boat); - Marion saving herself with Class B amnestics to counter the mnestics in her body, so as to erase her memory of the SCP; - Marion experiencing the disastrous effects of mixing amnestics and mnestics.
yes! there are lots of details missing, we know. Sadly some stuff got thrown out of the window because we run out of time that day and some stuff I avoided entirely. But thank you for your feedback. I love having the community watching and give me very constructive criticisms.
Ahh I see, I didn’t realize that Marion saved herself. Thought maybe the monster kept her alive so that she could remember it and spread information about it.
I've noticed that both episodes seem to have a thing of doing things over and over again without reaching a goal. Like Sisyphus rolling the bolder up the hill. Like sure, in episode one the guy did find a way to fight off the SCP, but he didn't kill it, it'll come back again. And with this episode as well, using the device to wipe everyone's memories and constantly restarting the Anti-memetics division. I've got a feeling that this series will end with getting said bolder to the top of the hill, only for it to roll back down the other side.
wooo..you're getting somewhere there..but also it's why the actual threat of SCP-3125 is so powerful. How can you conquer an adversary whose existence remains unknown to you?
@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar This the first time I've got a creator like one of my comments. Feel like I've accomplished something. Also, this gives me something to think about.
I've been rereading the Antimemetics stories since shortly after qntm wrote them. They are awesome material for horror-themed rpgs and larp games (Cthulhu live action and other). I love seeing this series being made!

Oh wow there’s even more on the way! Something to look forward to, especially once 3125 makes a proper appearance. I think Marion having her “oh shit” moment reading the SCP file in the inverted containment chamber will be something special to see, especially with how well she’s been casted in these.
Reminds me of Utopia. The cinematography in The first episode were awesome. Great story telling starting with this too, the rest of SCP to follow till be a trip that’s for sure.

Honestly for all the episode’s flaws I adore the brief creature reveal. From the design to the framing everything about it is unsettling and unnerving in exactly the right ways
With respect to the amount of work that went into the physical and/or digital effects, not showing it might have been a better option, after all if you can see it it can see you, so showing it is dangerous, like that one 096 short that blocked out his face to keep the immersion up
Oh... my... goodness.... This has to be one of the best SCP short series, I've ever watched. Can't wait for the third episode, well done to all the team. You've fufilled many peoples hopes and dreams for a good short series.
Translating a story from one medium to another (in this case, prose text to film) can be a daunting task. All artistic media have their pros and cons when telling a story. The trick is to accept this, accept that whatever medium you choose will have its drawbacks, and find a workaround. I'd like to bring up Locke & Key as an example. It was first a comic series published by IDW, and eventually got translated into a Netflix show. In the comic, the Head Key is described as acting in a specific way, a way that one could not faithfully translate from comic to television without losing 'something' in the process. Sure, what the Netflix show did is DIFFERENT than what the comic did, but the end result is still quite spectacular, and serves to inform the audience of the Head Key's purpose. You're telling the same story, just in a different way, and that's okay. Major props to you for feeling that ache of "I didn't get it QUITE right," because that shows how dedicated you are to how the story was originally told. There is definitely merit in that; but, I hope you remember that there are things you can do in film that you cannot in prose text. We, the audience, look forward to seeing how you adapt the story.
The first episode of this was fantastic, I loved how y'all did the antimemes. An incredible adaptation of the first two stories from qntm's work. I'm looking forward to this episode in a few days!!
Even if you say it's your worst episode, it's still liked by everyone. Your hard work shows and that's what matters. Thanks for showing us this and We can't wait for more!
Honestly, telling as large a story as the source material for this episode hints at would take a whole feature film, or even a series. So having only enough left in this episode to hint at it works really well. There's enough to be frightening, but also be tantalizing. Inciting the desire to dig deeper, learn more about the source, while instilling the thought that doing so is inherently dangerous, even deadly.
This is beautiful. I remember those days when there will only a couple hundred scp’s, now I get to watch them come to life. Thanks my dude, you’ve made my night.
Underated channel, i really hope this show sparks off your youtube because this is just so well made and i wanna see more in the future. i do not recognise the bodies in the water
After reading the whole thing on the wiki this is a really good adaptation about a war against the ultimate anti-idea. There are a couple things that were explained via context in the writing that weren't easily communicated in the show but hell, that's all adaptations. What's here is as close to perfection as were ever gonna get at this scale!
Even though it sucks stuff had to be cut down on, I think the fact this still turned out pretty decent despite lots of issues coming up says a lot. I'm really looking forward to the next episodes!!
Special effects were fine, but the acting from Dr Marness was a little bland. I didn't ever get the impression that the SCP was devouring him from the inside (or whatever horrible thing it was doing to him), even when he was spewing bodily fluids (not sure if it was blood or ichor). Still pretty good though, 7/10. One question, though. When Dr Marness started spraying liquid, was that caused by The Escapee, or was it was a side effect of the nestic he was given? The current director said that remembering this would kill him, but she couldn't have known that remembering The Escapee would cause it to kill him since knowing even that much would have caused The Escapee to go after her, so I had thought the nestic she gave him was going to have lethal side effects. She certainly didn't seem surprised by anything that happened to him before she got her first glimpse of The Escapee, so was everything prior to that an expected effect of the nestic?
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar GASP you better have done this well. Btw, there were a little discussions about you in the scp discord. Mixed reviews. But personally, you all did very well, given your budget. TINAD is very difficult to adapt into film after all.
@@strangelaw6384 you might end up being disappointed. This is my least favourite episode, I know there are problems and I didn't handle it correctly but it's still part of the story! On another note, the comments on the first episode are extremely positive. But I'm trying to be de-attached where possible. People don't understand what it means to make stuff like this and I'm not expecting them to care about the effort. But you can't just compare what we do with a Netflix show. They're just on two different levels. And obviously, you can't please everyone.
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar It really is difficult to strike a balance between accepting comments as future problems to tackle, and establishing enough boundaries to avoid creative paralysis. Most comments seem to just be the dialogues (about 055) that were skipped, which I'm perfectly fine. Grey should be the antimeme of the film. And using him/it to replace Marion's exposition is smart. (I watched all the Filmento videos.) " you might end up being disappointed." I will definitely still watch it. And you don't know if I might end up liking it! An audience's reaction is more often unpredictable than not. Looking forward to part 2!
@@strangelaw6384 however I do agree with some of the criticisms that were made. We did cut out a lot to make them fit together. Originally, they were separate and there was more in each, "talk about 55" and "introductory", but when we merged them, they got cut. And TBH, I'm glad I did. I would have run out of money if I had kept the original idea of having them separate. To give you an example, adding another 3/4 min of screen time to episode 1 would have cost me $3000/$4000. The other thing is that, when you go and do this, you know the story so well that you take stuff for granted, while the audience does not. This is obviously not an excuse, there is always a way to make it work and make it better in a creative way. Don't get me wrong, I truly appreciate the criticism from the community and people giving constructive feedback because they want the product to be better! I absolutely love that! Me and Dr. Sherman will make a BTS, breakdown series and talk through all these problems!
The way you can tell when his audio stops being positioned relative to hers negatively impacts the scene composition. You could have used it as a phenomenal effect to show a gradual "dislocation from reality" as the entity manifests through his growing awareness of it. You'd probably need to use specialized spatial audio editing software for the effect though if you ever consider redoing portions of this series later on.
I'm beyond ecstatic that the Antimemetics Hub is getting a live-action series, you guys are doing an AMAZING job! Love how great a job Tanya does portraying Marion as the Foundation's GOAT
I don't know if it was intentional but when the Dr.Marness was clutching his head and puking blood it sounded like he was talking directly into Marions head, which is a fun thing to think about, like the SCP was trying to be known and allowing him to pass on it's presence. If intentional it was a good touch, if not I think it was a happy accident/ point that could have been played into.
My only gripe was that Marion, the lead on Anti-Memetics, was asking pointed questions to know about an SCP that stops harming people when it's forgotten about (A La it's last bearer dying)

At some point, your art doesn’t belong to you, and the people who are receiving it get to decide. Just another artist’s opinion. :) I’m so excited for this series.

@@lordbuss oh neat. i don’t remember that, guess it’s time for a re-read!
@@Mr_Spaghetti Are you sure it's wise to remember?
Of course, it happened, we just forgot about it. did it?
That's exactly what happened in the original written version, "Unforgettable, that's what you are".
A commendable act, by someone now only known to exist because of that single act."
But that is difficult to convey in the adaptation without a narrator.

The other departments would have to rely on heavy cgi, because they’re dealing with physical monsters, or with things that affect a large area. But this affects the mind, it affects memories.

Its still cake. And cake is damn tasty.
Dude, thank you! This means a lot
Can't wait for ep 3!
it was pretty intolerable. it felt as if the actors spoke in a voiceover after they recorded the video. the acting itself was pretty mediocre too
Guys, you seriously deserve a Netflix show
We wish! But I prefer doing stuff for the SCP community!
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar as long as you enjoy it, we enjoy it
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicarI love you for this take. Keep up the great work do not stop man you and your team are artists!
Netflix and Amazon should be arm wrestling to get this series. :)
Again, thank you for bringing the Antimemetics Division Hub alive! But lots of valuable details are missing, and I don’t mean the CGI, which definitely is limited by the budget. There are other story elements and dialogue which could have been included:
- El remembering Marion as Marion Hutchinson, not Wheeler;
- Explaining the classification of mnestics and which class was used;
- Marion realising something is off: alone without support (originally stranded on a boat);
- Marion saving herself with Class B amnestics to counter the mnestics in her body, so as to erase her memory of the SCP;
- Marion experiencing the disastrous effects of mixing amnestics and mnestics.
yes! there are lots of details missing, we know.
Oh so, she was barely alive not because she was attacked but because the mnestics mixed with amnestics?
They couldn't really adapt the x class directly bc the de aging would be super tough.

Yeah! The most difficult thing is adapting the thinking process of the characters. That was hard.

Honestly, telling as large a story as the source material for this episode hints at would take a whole feature film, or even a series. There are a couple things that were explained via context in the writing that weren't easily communicated in the show but hell, that's all adaptations. What's here is as close to perfection as were ever gonna get at this scale!
Thank you! Even if this wasn't our best episode we still put a lot of love into it!
I don't remember seeing a Part One, why start on Part Two?
Maybe you already watched part 3?
Even though it sucks stuff had to be cut down on, I think the fact this still turned out pretty decent despite lots of issues coming up says a lot. I'm really looking forward to the next episodes!!
Thank you for your kind words!
In the book, SCP3125 pierces through his body with spider legs, but we had massive issues with the prosthetics on the day and had to cut down a lot
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar And was Marness coughing up blood caused by 3125 or the nestics?
@@iSmartMan1him coughing up blood was caused by spider legs piercing him from the inside
After episode one I said it's the best of all the SCP videos.
After episode two I have to say it again. It's the best.
Thank you! We put a lot of love into it, even if this isn't our best episode!
How weird to see episode 2, there is no episode 1, did they forgot to upload it?🤔
there is no episode 1
This is by far my favorite series. I dont think I have been this excited to see an episode 2 of anything... but this, this is on a whole new level.
Thank you so much! We put a lot of work and love into it!
Are there going to be SPIDER LEGS IN THIS PART?
We changed that to something else tbh because I'm a huge HP Lovecraft fan.
(I watched all the Filmento videos.)
" you might end up being disappointed." I will definitely still watch it.
I am happy, this channel was recommended to me. I thought Antimemetics Hub gonna fall into obscurity
Thank you! Even if this wasn't our best episode we still put a lot of love into it!
Thank you! Even if this wasn't our best episode we still put a lot of love into it! Tanya is amazing
Now I just have to make it to the time machine again so I can watch it early! The Foundation took the last one. This time they won't find me >:D
or will they?
@@AndreaJoshuaAsnicar or have they already and we don't even know?
Yeah, they take my time machine again a week from now.
@@kevintrigg3707 Probably because she didnt know about it. All she knew was that there was a secret in the antimemetics division. as The leader, she needs to inherit the knowledge, which she now has done.
She doesnt remember but that doesnt mean she doesnt know. Now when its time to pass the torch, she can also tell the next head
IM SO EXCITED 😭😭 LOVE YOU SO MUCH
Awwww love you too!
Oh, I love the SOUND of it! An excellent job on the sound design front!
But the pistol grip and shooting were a kind of a let down for a sorta nerd... 😅
