My theory is that people attracted to corporations are conservative types. There is also a high proportion of upper class people in management. Upper class are more comfortable with bullying and excluding others who are different. In America it's a slightly different situation, there they value hard work and long hours, so they de-value the part time contribution of people with health conditions who often can't do long hours over so many days. So much talent is wasted due to this low key discrimination. This isn't just discrimination, it's a misunderstanding of who knowledge workers can be productive. It's not hours worked, it's expertise executed.
