Very emotional day. Played it at least a dozen times. Love the harmonies, slide guitar by Paul and his contribution of his added lyric. Strings are great. I can hear Because backing vocals I am still trying to hear Eleanor Rigby and Here There and Everywhere. Love the little guitar lick is it Paul or is it George? I think Paul. How much has Paul played here.
*Andrew B!* Thank you sooo much for taking the time to make and post this most *Important* review of *Now and Then♪♫♪* I thought it was emotionally awesome and your review got it right♪
In my opinion this is a perfect last song from them. So emotional listening to it playing on radio two for the first time. Great video and you have a new subscriber.
Well done my friend. You were welling up there after you had listened to the track. It is a fitting final single indeed. I love it. My view on the listing - if they were so insistent on including Love Me Do it could have been a four track EP with Now and Then and Love Me Do on one side, and Free As A Bird and Real Love on the other side.
I totally agree with you 100%. The cover was designed to show them leaning on the Red & Blue Covers. I also had tears And I wasn't embarrassed Great Review
Defiinitely agree that they should have had the two nineties singles, with new MAL'd Lennon vocals on the B-Side. That would have justified the vinyl prices!!
After about the 3rd or 4th listen I'm liking this "new" song quite a bit. Please let me fill in a few tidbits and my only small criticism. George apparently contributed both acoustic and electric guitars back in 1995. I'd bet that since this arrangement varies quite a bit from the state of the demo back then that the production team used pro tools to cut and paste his parts into this version. BTW I've been recording music in pro studios for about 45 years. Next if you listen carefully to the imported bg vocals from Because, Eleanor Rigby et al they're all in a different key than this song! Sooo some more studio magic was necessary to digitally transpose them to fit what we're hearing on this new release. Ok now for my small criticism. George after playing slide guitar for 30+ years became a master of the instrument. Just listen to his Anthology contributions, they're off the charts good! So I'm a little dismayed when Paul says he's added slide guitar in "the spirit of George". What Paul played here was nice but he's essentially playing a very simple single-note melody line. I just wish he'd have said."I played a slide solo because George would have played one if he was still with us."
Now and Then - A fittingly poignant, final Beatles song. The cynical part of me thinks that we will get other "new" stuff, as the financial imperative is strong and the market seems willing, BUT it won't be all four Beatles with two living. The electronuc wizardry will develip further via AI (Artificial Intelligence) and create new possibilities, but N&T is a landmark. The other thing on my mind is how fantastic was it in the 60's when a new entire Beatles album of songs was released! Always new and pushing the barriers forward. Always high quality work. Wow!
It’s a John Lennon song . Not a Beatles song . The same energy given to free as a bird and real love should have been applied to Now and then . Claus Neilson’s version of Now and Then is how it should sound .
Your enthusiasm for the Beatles and their new single is contagious. Thank you.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
I get very emotional when I hear this. What a fantastic job that they all did. I absolutely love this song. I got to Play It again. Have a great day.
I thought they did a good job 7.5/10, its not a patch on 'Free as a bird' or 'Real love'
Hello Andrew, it is an ENCREDIBLE BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!! An ABSOLUTE WONDERFUL gift!!!!! Very Emotional!!!! Can’t wait for tomorrow, take Care!!!!
Magical song

Love the song love the video although it's sad as well as funny. I had the song in my head for the entire 12 hour night shift 😊

Definitely should have included FAAB and RL
I’d like your shirt! Yes, it’s a great day, last song. Nice video.
Thanks that's better than George's comment to George Martin, he said I don't like your tie. Lol
I love it!!
I totally agree with you 100%. The cover was designed to show them leaning on the Red & Blue Covers.
I also had tears
And I wasn't embarrassed

I love all three songs from the Anthologies. Can’t pick which is the best.

I think they should have done the 7" as they have but put the extra 2 tracks on the 12" & CD single
Great idea
Agree with you tat Real Love is a better song. Feels more like the Beatles.
