Golden Sun RNG Methods: Kikuichimonji (K-Sword)

- The Kikuichimonji Sword is a sword long sought out by Golden Sun gamers. It is
a Japanese name meaning "Chrysanthemum of the Ichimonji". The Japanese used to
name their swords after the man who forged them, so it must translate into
this, not something else. Thank WingGaia for this information. This sword is
dropped by Fenrirs found in the upper part of the Venus Lighthouse. Its
abbreviation, used by many gamers whom prefer it, is "The K-Sword."
Note: Do exactly as I show in the video and you should get it 100% of the time. As you can see, I got three in a row.
It has to be the first encounter after a HARD RESET. Just follow what I did exactly.
Note: Make sure Mia attacks before Garet does or it won't work. Also, make sure Torch kills the Fenrir before you kill the Gargoyle..if the Gargoyle dies on the first turn, then I THINK using weaker psynergy a level below the one you're using now may help (Instead of Tornado, do Whirlwind)
UPDATE: Evidently, being cursed WILL mess with the RNG, and you won't be able to get the sword with this method. Big thanks to goombapatrol054 for the confirmation.
Nevermind, I tried it and it worked!
Garet and Mia's agility were both 141 and Mia still attacked before Garet and the Fenrir.
I'm also missing Spritz.

hey there, i just now did your EXACT method you did, as a level 32 with all characters and only missing the Hail djinni. Garet was cursed, BUT he was using the Cleric's Ring. I did this 4 TIMES and i got a Kikuichimonji EVERY time. So It DOES work even if your cursed, you just have to have the clerics ring as well.

I agree with you. You can't find anything better for Ivan in terms of Swords. Also, because he is a Jupiter Adept, the K-Sword has a Jupiter-based attack summon. Because Ivan is naturally that type, it will be increased in terms of power.

Well, I can only suggest that you give Isaac +Agility items. If you still have the "Elven Shirt" from the forest, that is a massive Agility booster. Also, "Quick Boots" and "Running Shirt" can be obtained from the various games in Tolbi (Both from the Card Game) which can help. Also, remove any agility bonus items Ivan may have.

Ok, third guide I've tried done everything you and the other guides did and it still hasn't worked. Only difference I can see is my characters are positioned different and garet uses a demonic axe with cleric ring. What ever shall I do...
What does RNG stand for? Also, is this the only method that can be used to obtain this sword?

Ivan was cursed when I tried this, so I figure it had something to do with that stupid ghost.

Ah okay, thanks for clearing that up. So all that matters is the spells are right, and Mia goes before Garet, and Torch kills the enemy before they get to attack.
does it matter if ivan attacks first? cause in my game ivan is always first.
Great Axe? There is a weapon like that, but it's in the armory (weapon shop). Base attack is 80 damage, and it has no weapon unleash. However, you're probably referring to the Giant Axe, which has 114 power and an unleash for 47 bonus Mars damage and can lower defense by 25%. I'll see if I can find it on youtube, and if not, I'll upload it myself.
Didn't work for me... I dunno what's being done wrong. All the chars attack and used the same psy that u used there, the only exception is that my Ivan is always the faster of the group. Could that interfere?
A hard reset is when you turn it off, then back on again.
A soft reset is when you hold a certain combination of buttons to reset without touching the power.
I'm guessing Bane, since most people miss that one by not going to Crossbone Isle.
@Elementero No its not necessary,he got that effect from the equipment he was wearing,most player have more or less the same thing equipped for the end of the game.

I haven't played the game in a while now, so I don't remember if there are any shops like that. I don't remember any..so I suppose leveling would be the best thing I can suggest. If you look at my other video, you can abuse EXP the way I show.
I don't know if that'll affect it, for all I know it doesn't, but try giving Isaac any leftover Agi items to make him before Ivan. After that, make sure the attack order is the same (Isaac, Ivan, Mia, Garet) and make sure you have enough Agility to have your second turn before the enemy gets to attack.
I just used this method and it worked perfectly even though Garet was wearing two cursed items and the Cleric ring.
BTW, it doesn´t care which one is faster. If Ivan attacks first, you obtain the Kikuichimonji anyway:)
use the game tickets to get running shirts and quick boots in the place where colosso was
quickboots from lucky wheel, will give an ultraexcellent boost to agility too
Are you making it your very first encounter from a reset? Make sure it's the first encounter from a reset, and let me know what happens then.
You need to give Mia enough Agility to go before Garet. If you have any Agility boosting items, give them to Mia. As long as you make sure the attack order (and attacks used) are the same, you should be able to get the K-Sword.
I dun understand!!!! After 1st turn the mnster din attack u. But for me, after i go through the 1st turn , the monster attack me, i just dun understand why!
I believe it's 151, but I may be wrong. Just mess around with the Agility items (the Elven Vest from the forest will do just nicely) and if you've already done that, just level up once or twice.
That might mess with the RNG..but I'm not certain. Does everything else in the video happen on your end, too? If not, then the RNG is probably affected by being cursed. I'd suggest going to the shrines and removing the curse, then try it again.

What I find interesting is that this weapon is one of the only cases in which a translation other than the English one has a better name.
yeah i love this "bug" you can make a quite amound of money...i thought that if i had 2-3 of them in Golden Sun 2 it could help me but it seems that when the two parties rejoin this sword is a bit weak compared with what you got at that time of the game...big excitment for nothing in Golden Sun 2 :( as for the earth djinn (bane) you can find it at the pirate island (you can get there by casting whirlwind when you are on the tempests lizard cyclone (the big blue lizard) it has a tough boss there
Yeah, it affects it. You need to make sure you get both turns finished before the enemy gets to attack. If it's not exactly as shown in the video, I don't think you can get it. Getting attacked changes the RNG, and because of that, no Kikuichimonji.
Not having the last Djinn can affect the RNG, so try finding that. It SHOULD work with the last Djinn, are you sure you're doing this as the first encounter off of a hard reset? Let me know if you make any progress, that's all I can tell ya for now.
all with big cursor on ice gargoyle except for isaacs clay spire which i put big cursor on fenrir ivan goes first in my party with tornado, then isaac with clay spire, then mia with ice horn and garet with flare wall. flare wall finishes ice gargoye
then second turn (yes the fenrir did attack between turn 1 and 2 but apparently it didnt matter cuz i still got the sword)
ivan defend, isaac defend, mia casts wish and garet kills fenrir with torch
My guess is Elven Shirt, and maybe a Running Shirt as well.
Try using a different weapon instead of demonic axe. Make sure everything in the battle goes exactly as it does here.

Wearing the Clerics Ring, despite removing the Curse, may still mess with the RNG. I don't know if it'll work or not. (I also lost all my data when my comp got wiped, so if anyone can test it for me, that'd be great).
it doesnt work, i have garet with cursed equipment and clerics ring and i followed the video exactly with no results

I know that. I've played the game 5 times. You get the clock ball from babi and the carry stone in venus lighthouse(not the ac tual one)

u cant finish it right away u need to get the cloak ball and the carry stone to finish cross bone isle
It's likely because of an Agility issue.
what is a hard reset?
yeah. My garet got 160, isaac 182, mia 170 and ivan 222. but still after the end of the 1st turn( after everyone in my team attacked) the enemy attacked me.
Missing the Hail djinni might mess the RNG though, so if you had all djinni it might not work with Cleric's Ring.

downloaded the rom for this game for nostalgia and the lols and while grinding the lvls to actually beat the fusion dragon i randomly got this weapon. apparently i killed the fenrir with Meteor which im not sure its it counts as a mars djinn attack. this sword is way too rare.

You need more Agility on your characters. Around 150 to be exact.

i did it with 2 cursed characters
i had garet with all the best cursed gear with clerics ring and mia with the wicked mace, its such a badass weapon so who cares if she cant move sometimes lol
I literally just followed this video step by step...i have all 7 djinn for everyone...garet has the demons axe and clerics ring... and just got 2 in a row... after changing positions etc...position dont matter cursed doesnt seem to matter (to me)
i remember using this cheat when i used to play a few years ago
Get the other Djinni. It'll fix the RNG.
