Cut list: you need five 2x4x10” pretreated boards and two 2x4x8” pretreated boards. Take three of the 10ft boards and cut two 55” pieces out of each. Take one 10ft board and cut a 55” and 52” piece. The last 10ft board is cut into three 25.5” pieces and one 12” piece. The first 8ft board makes three 31” pieces. The last 8ft board makes a 31” piece and two 19” pieces. Follow the link in the description for a great visual on the assembly.
Thank you for making this clear or clearer! When I made this video I thought I had hit the main points but enough people have asked that I feel I missed some key lengths. It’s been several years and a home move so I don’t have the data any longer.
I like your idea of just 1 centered screw at first then set the contraption on the paved floor to level & square it before adding a second screw. 2 screws are all that are needed at every connection finally not more. I'll make the racks so they hold 4 buckets across because our planting season here in the Rockies is in May so every weekend of May I'll plant another bucket of potatoes & onions & carrots & tomatoes. The corn I will also grow in a 5th un-racked bucket. Thanks for this video !!!
Very cool project...I love growing my Potatoes & Sweet Potatoes in 5 gallon buckets... In the past, I would just put down some 2x4 for a base on the ground.... I love that it is shelved in 2 levels, space saving...awesome. 😎👍🌟🌟🌟
Thank you for the kind words! I liked the space saving aspect of this project too and am waiting for the rain in Ohio to stop or at least slow down to get ours planted. I went back later and added cedar all around to improve the looks of it based off my wife's request but that does not change the functionality.
@@scottthornandhisbeesandtrees Great Idea !! 🤯👍🌟🌟 I was thinking of stapling some canvas around it...but now, looking around my yard..I got lots of leftover cedar fencing planks, kicking around...I will do the same, and brad nail them on... . My thanks to your wife and you sharing your bonus tip. cheers 😎👍🍁👍
Thanks my brother is going to put 1 together for me . I am putting carrots , beans, onions, and cucumbers in mine. Since I already have tomatoes and potatoes in other containers.
Clamps just below to hold up the other end would be preferred for next time. As I learned from other videos, clamps are your friend, they hold things when you work alone on projects.
They have this cool invention now. They are call clamps. You should look into getting some. It's like having several helpers. I'm not sayin' I'm just sayin'.
I have square cages and stuck them into the buckets. They overhang the stand a little but are still functioning to hold the plants. Another option would be to use three wooden stakes into the buckets near the edge and run some old cloth line or old pantyhose between the stakes to hold the plants. Let me know if you try any of these and how they work.
There are written dimensions in an earlier comment reply below, hope that works. If not, they are written out in the end frames of the video. Thanks for watching!

@@scottthornandhisbeesandtrees not a problem, my daughter and I just finished making one last night.
@@BrianJonesSr very cool!
Awesome design. Built one today and had great success
I love to hear that, thanks for sharing!!

I’m glad this was useful for you and best wishes to your building and growing! We’ve used this one for several years now and it is still going strong.

Simple design and quite sturdy looking! Ty for this video!!
Thank you for the kind words and for watching! It’s worked well for us and we are looking forward to using it again this year.
Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it 😊
Thank you for watching and for the feedback! Happy building and gardening 😎
Thanks for the video. Great work.
Thanks for watching!
NICE!!! The motivation I needed to build mine!
DKUJ_ PALLETS & MORE thanks! This turned out well this year for us and I hope it works for you too.
@@scottthornandhisbeesandtrees So far so well!!! As long as you don't skimp on screws you should be good to go. lol

TheLightbright01 that’s great, I hope you enjoy yours!
Nicely done.
Thank you for the kind words.

Thanks for the tip and for watching!
Do you put any kinda holes in the bottom of the buckets for drainage?
Yes I drilled holes in the bottom and sides.
Do you think 2x3s would be strong enough?
I would think so. The longer spans are supported so it should work. Let me know if you go that way and how it works. Thanks for watching!
What were the measurements on the 8 ft boards. It cuts off at the end
Sorry about that- one of the eight footers make three 31 inch pieces and the other makes one 31 inch and two 19 inch pieces. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks!

I'll look into it, thanks for watching.
It only holds 6 buckets? Looks like 8 cpuld fit
It did hold eight buckets, I think when I was building it I only had this many laying about.
Can you share your cut list?
I think it is at the end of the video and is also in the comment thread over the years. Sorry but I don’t have it saved in any other form.
It looks like one of the cuts got missed. I got 55", 52", 31", 19", 12"
Im guessing it's slightly longer than 31" pieces. No luck in Searching all the comments and the cut list at the end is very short that it got cut off.
Any idea how I can steak tomatoes with this rack? I have 48” wire cages in each bucket, the plants are really growing and getting heavy.

I may have misread your question; you could try to secure the cages into the stand with screws or something similar.
Not 30$ anymore spent 110$ on lumber and buckets
😳 Wowsers
Well this was a few years ago before prices went way up.
I didn’t see all the detailed dimensions could u send them to me please?
There are written dimensions in an earlier comment reply below, hope that works. If not, they are written out in the end frames of the video. Thanks for watching!
In the thread from Joe Manion
Hello more detail of placement of 19 and 31 inch pieces, I didn't catch the 5th 10 ft 2x4
I’ll check on those next time I get a chance. Going only off memory I’d be afraid I’d give you bad info.
