    Fallkniven may just look plain. But they feel great in hand and the blade is fantastic.

    Picked up R2 Scout today. Love it! Worlds strongest pocket friendliest edc fixed blade.

    I believe that you would enjoy the FALLKNIVEN KK or Kolt knife. I think it’s a true neck knife or easily slipped into a pocket. I bought mine just a few weeks ago and it’s become one of my most used and favourite knives. I was a little hesitant to buy it because of its strange handle shape, but I’m more than happy that I did. I was tossing up between the Kolt or the scout. I might have to get the scout too, just to see how they compare in hand.

      I absolutely love my Kolt too. And I agree, we need to buy both.

    Thanks for your follow-up thoughts! If I were ever to buy a fallkniven, I think it would be this model. I like the size of it, it has a nice hunting shape, and you did a great job of showing it’s capability in the woods. Cheers, buddy.

    Nice presentation (including the other two videos you made about it). Just got mine. Impressed! My hands a little bit larger than yours, but even so it still feels good in the hand.

    No one does convex like Fallkniven. Just gorgeous! In my experience Elmax is an awesome steel if somewhat onerous to sharpen. I really like their Lam Cos steel and wonder why they strayed from it. Size wise, my F1x fits my hands perfectly. This one may be a bit small as you mentioned but the thinner blade would be nice and slicey.

    Nice Review!! Will be really nice to see you sharpening it... I'm afraid to get a knife with those two components, Convex+ Elmax, But I really want this knife so badly.... So, I will be waiting for the video Thanks in advance!!!

    If I were you I would have put the paracord on the opposite side of the case, or in the lateral spaces 🤔. But I love the knife and the description is just awesome !! Thanks for sharing! It is very clear and concise!

    this is a tad excessive as far as blade thickness, but with the convex grind, I don't really see it hurting overall. It would be nice to feel like you could get into a bank vault with an edc tool. its the ultimate preparedness compact fixed blade. Elmax is an awesome steel choice. if they did it in cpm3v with a slightly thinner blade stock, I would be in heaven, but for an under 200 dollar fixed blade with these premium features, I think its one of the best priced offerings from this brand.

    For me the guard lets it down. With a fairly small handle, you want purchase on the entire handle, and the guard for me gets in the way. As per usual, the quality cannot be disputed.

      Fallkniven has some issues with this model in (at least in how they do their Elmax). It might have been a few batches but In Norway's biggest knife page we have got several complaints about this knife specifically. Yesterday (Thursday 16th september) there was a buy that had skinned and parted 6 rabbits,and the knife looked like a serrated blade after. It did not look good. Also Fallkniven are not always that good on honoring their warranty. So I would either wait til Fallkniven has some more experience with Elmax, either their grind phase is a bit of or it's the heat treatment. So I would stick with your Trapper for now. At least Briza/Enzo has their Elmax treatment down to a T. Don't get me wrong Fallkniven has so many amazing knifes in their catalog, but I never seen so many complaints on a Fallkniven as this particular model.

  • @lyman135
    @lyman135 Год назад +3

    It's way too thick for its size. A knife that small is better of thinner and being a good slicer. That thing is like trying to slice with a splitting maul.

  • @svartaska

    Nice Video! Would you choose the F1 or the R2? I own a F1 in Cos and looking for some smaller knife. But I am not sure if the R2 makes sense, if you still have the F1. Best from Germany!
    Meanwhile I got mine R2. Unfortunately I am a bit disapointed. The knife got some dents while I was carving a fresh branch of pine. Peter from Fällkniven answered my mail and said, that the Elmax is 20% more tough than the Cos and not brittle. If I have some dents, I should buy an use the DC4. Honestly, this answer really made me sad, because I paid a lot of money and then the edge does not even survive a ordinary cutting through a branch. And if he is right and Elmax is not brittle, how can it dent so fast?...
    But I love the size of this knife.

    • @emmokaemingk9448
      @emmokaemingk9448 3 года назад +1

      I have 2 F1's myself, in VG10 and in COS. The VG10 had dents at the start, but after sharpening this did not happen again. The COS is less brittle and you can get it sharper than the VG10. In the mean time I learned how easy it is to maintain a knife. I also learned that any very sharp knife has such a thin cutting edge, that it is logic the edge gets damaged after being used roughly. This happens to cheap knives much earlier and much more sever.

      Although pine wood itself is soft . The resin in the knots is not . I have chipped both knives in cpm 3v and axes in these knots . They are like small stones in the wood

      @@JohnnyJuke thank you, I have one more question for you if you could please answer it for me. How about the R to scout compared to the F1X elmax? I have read many reviews with complaints about the F1X handle, but other than that people say it’s great. Which one do you think would be the best between the two. I am looking to purchase one or the other

      @@JohnnyJuke do you have any complaints about the R2 scout? Does it do just about everything? I’m not a serious bush crafter but if I needed to use it in the woods for some Bushcrafting would it be OK yet still be good for every day carry sort of stuff?
