‘Gen 5 is the first generation that had the concept of when you die you can become a pokemon’ … Dude i like gen 5 the most too but spiritomb is literally 108 spirits in one creature 😢
I think one thing you didn't consider is that by each gen passing we have more Pokemons, so of course the number would raise every gen, of course gen 7 sure have a lot compared to other gens, but it's also a gen with 6 games, compared to gen 6 with only 4 and gen 9 with only 2, I think a better way to compare is %, you take the number of dark entries and divide by the number of total entries and then multiply by 100 to get a %, 30 may seem a huge number, but one thing is having 30 dark entries in a dex with only 300 Pokemons, another is having 30 in a dex with 800 Pokemons, also, some Pokemons with dark entries will probably have dark entries again, so % definitely seems better to use here
I think because the RUclipsr is considering the commutative value of dark Dex entries, it would be worth sharing which entries changed in the next gen (up to 7 when the National dex ends). Because I’m sure even with the addition of 100 some new Pokémon in the region, the additional dark entries between a generation and its predecessor isn’t ALL from the new region dex entries. I’m sure there are some dex entries that either were no longer dark in a future gen or a dex eatery that becomes dark. But yeah like you said, the first thing I thought of was that the next generation just adds to the National dex total number so of course the dark entries increase 😅
Even the anime dex for Hatterene and Hattrem is dark to a degree saying Hatterene will give people headaches and that Hattrem will beat people up with its braids and it has the strength of a pro boxer
The amount getting larger could also be because with each entry the Pokemon from the generation before also get added to the Pokedex and I don't think they change the entries up too much, so obviously the count gets a bit bloated. Idk if you only counted entries from new Pokemon in each generation, because you seem to have skipped over rule 5, whatever it was
Here's my theory... The Pokedex is full of _bullcrap._ Jokes aside, I do think the Pokedex has a misinformation and rumor problem. The majority of dex entries are incredibly unscientific, and take their information from untrustworthy sources. The most notable example being the Paradox Pokémon, which literally gets its information from "paranormal magazines." I'm willing to bet that a lot of the dex entries are a result of stories and rumors spread by word of mouth and other such things... Kinda like how everyone thinks that Dolphins are horny perverts, due to people always talking about "horror stories" where they do awful things. I doubt EVERY Dolphin is like that, just like how not every human is a serial killer. When it comes to animals in particular, people tend to judge the entire species based on the actions of individuals (people even do this for humans a lot too). Even though every individual has their own personality and standards. Take Hatterene and Hattrem's dex entries for example... I would not be surprised if a particularly agitated or aggressive Hatterene killed someone for being too loud, leading to people being very fearful and weary of the species, and warning their friends about it. I mean think about it... How many false stories have you heard about animals? Piranhas and Sharks aren't even nearly as hostile as the movies make them out to be. Misinformation is a huge issue in real life, and its probably true for the Pokémon world too.
Here is the thing. You have people living in the pokeverse for thousands of years that would have eyewitness accounts that can explain the dex entries along with the professors that research them. I doubt they'd risk their degrees for putting misinformation. You even see in the anime pokemon like Hatenna and Hattern get extremely sensitive around high emotions.
