I miss waking up every morning and going out on my pontoon to go fishing and to be able to see the sunrise with my cousins and listening to all the loons!! Thanks Geneva Lake in Alexandria, Minnesota for the best 2 weeks of my life!!
I'm 14 now but my grandma owns a camp on Hancock pond in ME. we would always go out in the morning and sit on the dock in the summer and listen to the loons because we both loved the sound of them. she past away a month ago.
Sorry to hear about your loss, we hope this helps to give you some peace and comfort. Its wonderful that you're still connecting to those happy memories!
I'm sorry about your grandmother. Isn't it amazing how certain sounds, and smells can instantly take you somewhere?! I'm glad you can connect with memories of your grandmother listening to such a beautiful calming sound! God bless!
Mom and I used to go to a shared family cabin up on Parker Pond, ME. Not so very far from your place. Mom passed away this past spring. I'm going to miss going up there, because the place has been sold out of the family. Sitting out on the dock at night, watching the night sky, and listening to the loons call across the lakes in September - nothing like it! Did you kayak on your pond?
I'm SO SORRY for your loss, my heart grieves for you. Hold on to those memories FOREVER, they will help you through the tough times for many, many years to come.
I was raised in Westport, CT, and now live in Tucson, AZ. The only time I have heard the cry of loons was while watching On Golden Pond. Due to a medical condition in my legs, I have to elevate them for several hours at a time which I generally do by listening to collections of Irish pub songs. This time, I wanted loons and found this video. Their sound made three hours pass by while I listened to real birds making their music from a lake. Nothing beats the sound of nature.
I've never seen or hear loons, I think they are not common in Finland. But their sound is pretty "creepy" and prehistorycal in a way, instantly making me think of dinosaurs. Maybe loons have the most closest sound to dinosaurs in moderm times :) Thank you for sharing this video!
Reminds me of when I went to southern Ontario with my grandma.. we camped by this decent sized lake and I’d wake up every morning in the camper and open the door to the sound of these amazing birds.. wish we had them in Colorado where I live
I live in Hawaii where we don’t have a lot of these birds that call out like this. I spent a couple of nights at a cabin in Wisconsin and I got to hear Loons and owls. I was so happy and excited about it.
Reminds me of summer sleepovers at my grandparents when I was a kid. Beautiful lake in their back yard and you could always hear the Loons. I miss those days.
I get to hear loons and birds like this every night but lately I’ve been going out of state to sports tournaments and this has made it easier to fall asleep, thank you so much!!
I used to live on Merrymeeting Lake in NH and we would leave our windows open at night so we could hear, and listen to the Loons! I miss it so incredibly much! This is incredible! Thanks for capturing it and posting for all of us to listen too.
Living in Maine is such a blessing. Loons up here are beautiful. Especially in the summertime. I used to go camping at Cupsuctic Lake in Rangeley from 2010-2012. But times have been busy. I wish to go back before I go off to college
I live in Vermont and my husband and I LOVE to take our children camping all summer long and the loons song is one of my absolute favorite sounds of nature.....I find it sooooo calming. Thank you for this, it brings me to the woods every time I hear it! God bless!
Thank you! I grew up in Northern Minnesota and would fall asleep to their sound every summer night. I miss it so much now that I live in California. This is great!
So many memories in this. The calls of loons while back country canoe camping in The BWCA of northern Minnesota, the lakes of Cape Breton, and northern Michigan outings. I will be "in my tent falling asleep" to this in a few nights.
I worked in Big Lake MN at Remmele, and vacationed on Snowbank Lake north east of Ely. I now live in Dayton OH and find myself longing for the North woods. GREAT sound track, thanks. Kris
My family is originally from Blackduck and Northhome. But now most of my family is living in Dora Lake.....just got back from visiting them and the loonsong was probably my most favorite calming part of my visit... BigLake sounds awfully familiar.
I was at a chain of lakes in Northern Wisconsin, and I heard the call of a loon. I was merely a child then. I didn't know what it could have been. There were many times I've seen loons on lakes. Several years ago, I was fishing on a lake, about an hour from the state line of the UP of Michigan. 2 loons showed up not far from where I was fishing. And me and the loons were there, simply living. Could see them relatively well. I was just sitting on a pier. Beautiful creatures, loons. I haven't seen any since that day. I miss them.
New subscriber here! Just played the role of "Ethel Thayer" in a summer stock production of _On Golden Pond_. Wonderful to have these 10 hours of commercial-free loons & other wildlife to listen to...this is such a beautiful recording. Thank you for sharing! 🙏🌿🌷🌿🎶💚🎶🌿🌷🌿🙏
Cant wait to hear these in a few weeks when i go fishin with my grandparents. Here in my province of Canada things are slowly being reopened as we only have 2 active cases left

Our favorite spot is Ely , MN. I love to play these when I am drifting off to sleep at night.
Thanks for no ads as well. Not nice to get into a video and have it stop every 5 minutes for an ad. Thanks again!!
I truly miss hearing them every day! Northern Wisconsin, oh how I miss you!

Thanks for listening and commenting! They definitely have a very unique sound, kind of reminiscent of bugling elk.

The sound of Michigan lakes
Loon calls are quite possibly one of the most tranquil things I can think of to hear.

TMSOFT - White Noise You're welcome! :)
Absolutely awesome!
It reminds of my friend's cabin by the lake. While loon calling by night while on a campfire.
I remember living in Big Lake MN. Listening to them down on the lake from the house.

I just LOVE the sound, reminds me of Native American flute
Thanks for listening Janet! I bet there is some interesting Native American mythology about Native American flutes and loons.
