Woodturning - Roughing and Shaping Burls Part 1

  • In this video I cut up and rough shape a large burl on the lathe. The wood is still wet so this is just the roughing out stage shown here in Part 1. Later after the wood is dry and any required repairs/strengthening done I will do a Part 2 video showing the next steps and final piece.

    Always a tough decision on where to make your first chainsaw cuts. Very interested in how you fill these with hardner.

    What kind of wood is this burl? Hard to see any figure in it yet. Good luck on working out the problems. 😀 Thanks for sharing with all of us.

      Thanks for the comment, it is maple burl. The figure really come out more once the finish is applied.
