Yep, you actually planted the seed a while ago in the comments so thank you! Just took it out for 9 days and it was perfect! Really, really happy with it!
I'm seasoned and love watching your videos. They are mostly useless to me as I do same same but in very different areas, but they make sense and are fun to watch.
I'm glad to hear you enjoy the videos! It's always nice to know that even if the content isn't directly applicable, it can still be entertaining and insightful.
Thank you for the video. Its good to hear the reasons for your gear choices - helps me reflect on my choices. My new Lowa boots grew more and more comfortable throughout their 1st real bushwalk- hope yours go well.
Hey mate, curious to know if you uploaded a video of the offtrack expedition you’re referring to in this one, and if so have you paid for the Tas parks permit? I only ask as I am new to Tassie and generally my content has been remote/offtrack adventures but the damn permit here stipulates that I can’t film anything off the trails. Which sucks and is really killing my creative freedom haha
no, haven't even got to editing that one as yet! Will most likely go out via a non-monetised avenue e.g. my newsletter. They don't exactly make it easy! Love all your vids!
@ Haha I know the feels 😂 Ok yeah, that’s what I’ve been starting to think I’ll have to do too, that’s alright, I guess even if you can’t monetise the video it can still bring in viewers/subscribers at the end of the day. Thanks mate! I’ve been binging yours all week since clicking on your Western Arthur Range video. Super informative! Thanks 🙏
Hmmm, been a while since I made this vid but I definitely would took a petal bindi headlamp. I also normally take a goal zero micro lighthouse lantern but forgot it on this trip!
No, not a trail at all a lot of the time. A lot of these walks I do are into areas where there is no track or trail and no intent to build one. So everyone needs to find their own way. Can be very challenging!
I have an MSR drom bag, the canvasy one not the lite one - I normally use bottles though. When I looked up that hose attachment there were heaps of bad reviews, have you ever had any issues with it?
Have never had an issue with the hose in heaps of trips. Works really well for me. Could maybe be a little longer. I also have one of the canvas ones. The lite ones take forever to get rid of the plastic taste!
It is extremely rare for me to carry water treatment anywhere in Tassie. I generally would if I know water is going to be scarce and I know I may have to get it from dodgy sources. Only places I am wary is in Cradle Mountain day walk area and around Pelion Plains on the Overland track but apart from that i drink straight from streams etc in Tassie. My filter of choice when I do need one is the Sawyer squeeze.
@@mowsertas great info thanks 😊 I drink the water from the summit of mount Wellington but I had friends become unwell when they drank from the stream in mount field.
Hey @mowser - how do you find the memo mat? Any issues with durability or Leaks as I know other brands like neoair don’t have the best reputation with leak issues
Mine has an R value of 4.2 but I find it sleeps a little cold. Absolutely no troubles with durability so far. In the past I have had to repair a lot of leaks with thermarests and also had one replaced under warranty with a valve leak. I wanted a Big Agnes Rapide SL instead of tensor but they were unavailable. Might still get one yet….
I LOVE the future fleece! Wore it walking a lot. Awesome jacket and will become a staple for me. Put a small tear in the arm but will see that up. Warm, light and a great fleece
Long time viewer here! If I may suggest something: The text, when out behind you, is very hard to read (the part that’s hidden). I believe it would be a lot better if you just put the text in a corner (this would probably save you a lot of work too, as you wouldn’t have to cut yourself our every time (yes, my wording is weird…)). Also: What’s the weight right now? Would be interesting to compare to what you’ll actually end up taking. Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback! Was actually thinking the same myself so will take that on board. Total weight excluding water is 22kg. This was the final list (as I am on the walk now). You can check out the full gear list here (as well as in vid description): lighterpack.com/r/8k6fat

@@mowsertasTasmanian here. I love my home state, but the shrubbery makes it nigh-on impossible to walk off-track... I recently hiked 280km through the Arctic Circle in far north Sweden two months ago and it was just absolute HEAVEN to be able to cut through the forest in any way that I wanted. Also, not having to camp in specific locations was very nice, as they have what's called 'Allemansratten' (freedom to roam) laws.
@@mowsertas I like Australia, I just don't like hiking in Australia. It's dry and kinda lifeless compared to South America and much of the northern hemisphere. It's also almost impossible to visually tell the difference between the bush in Tasmania and the bush in central Queensland. I envy the Americans with the incredible amount of biodiversity and scenery changes. Swiss-style peaks all the way to Floridian mangroves and swamps, and everything in between such as traversable deserts and forests etc.
Did you forget your toothbrush?!! Please let us know your opinion of the Chicken tramper shoulder pocket. I have one by Gossamer Gear which I really like but it slips down annoyingly on the shoulder strap of my new HMG Unbound pack, so I might end up looking for a different kind. Hike on!!
Toothbrush packed in the toiletries! The shoulder pocket looks good and attaches the same was as a hyperlite mountain gear pocket (you can actually choose the attachment mechanism at checkout). So far it looks good but will come back with a review after a bit of use!
I have 2 CTUG pockets (the bonded ones) for my Summit Gear Overland 60. The pockets are large enough for 6 medium muesli type bars and I keep my Swedish drinking cup in the lycra mesh pocket on the front. They are waterproof so far (5 months old).
So good to see you got a Slingfin Mowser!! Such great tents, you’ll love it.
