I personally love the Kates and their variations. Often use amber floss for the tail. In front of the brown hen two turns of either white hen or partridge. Or in late season swop black body hackle for a claret grizzle.
That is an Absolute Amazing tip to split my Jungle Cock Eye feather for a much simpler method of tying in the eyes. I’ve only tied 5 patterns thus far but this fly is at the top of my list to attempt for the Jungle Cock Eye Cape I received last week from Europe. Mega Thx Davie ! You are a Master at tying & instructing for sure !!!
Luv that fly, could you please stop tying so many! Because I started with a list of materials that I need, now I have a book !! Thay are going to luv me at Staffordshire in Feb. Well done just love to watch you tye.
Super looking wee fly there mate. Can you use other colours for the tail my friend. Glad your still doing videos. Thank for sharing again. Best Regards from West Virginia, Ken
Hi Ken, Yes you can and if you look at the comment from starsky arks he recommends orange and peach for later in the season..I'm glad you liked it.. All the very best Davie..

Beautiful pattern Davie, Happy New Year to you pal. Was wondering how long it would take you before you snipped those two or three loose fibres on the tail. Perfectionist as always 👍
I did enjoy it, Davie... thank you. So, I'm wondering a thing. The scissors you used here look like the Pakistani scissors you had and sharpened yourself... quite a while back, actually. Are they the same pair or another like them? Are you still sharpening your own scissors? Mike
Hi Mike, No they are a new pair, when I sharpen them myself which is rough if I am honest they don't last very long.. I was looking through the pairs that I have used over the last few years and to be honest if I had a proper sharpening machine I wouldn't need to buy another pair again...I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
Hi Davie, Ive been going over my catalogue of your patterns as I'm sat tying in readiness for next year. Would you consider tying up the Dynamite Harry Caddis you used on the Ayr? Love the video. many thanks
I'm still waiting on my George Barron book to arrive(a fine line) so I've got plenty of time to have a good go at this one Davie, what's your personal preference for palmered loch flies hen or cock up front?. I like the look and movement of a hen hackle myself. Cheers!! ATB Chris.
Hi Chris, I do like the hen hackle up front with a cock hackle on the body on these flies as this is how I originally tyed them though a hen hackle on the body as well as on the front can be deadly at times..When I used to have lot of Chinese cock necks I would use both for the body and front hackle as they make a great fly being soft at the base of the hackle and stiffer further up giving you best of both worlds.... All the very best Davie..
Lovely looking wee fly 👍
Davie this and all your Flies tied are simply outstanding. You're an inspiration to many. By far best tutorials on RUclips. Man's a pure genius.
Absolutely spot on
