A colossal solar flare is anticipated to scorch Earth, prompting astronauts to embark on a mission to the sun. Their objective is to deploy a talking bomb named Freddy at a specific time, redirecting the flare away. Meanwhile, the ambitious CEO of Giant IXL Corp, Teague, dismisses the threat and secretly wishes for the mission's failure to exploit a temporary planet value drop. Within the company, employee Haas devises a surprise for the astronauts. As Captain Steve Kelso steers the spacecraft through escalating temperatures, his grandfather Admiral Skeet Kelso traverses the desert in search of his AWOL grandson, Mike, who unintentionally intersects with IXL agents after encountering desert-dweller Travis.

Hi DDF, I’m a bit nervous, first time commenting, never been a first time commenter before.Great film really enjoyed it thank you.
I actually have this on DVD but in an awfully low quality. Nice to see it clearly at last. 😄
hu?
I think it's a fantastic movie. Surprised I never knew about it before now. Give it a chance. Lots of newer crap scifi movies don't deserve a second look. This one does

What a fantastic movie!!! Good show!! Lots of familiar faces. ❤
Before I watch any movies....I read comments first to find out what kind of movie is this...before I waste time.
agree.
Me too
Yes, me too
If this comment could of mentioned if the film was actually any good then I wouldn't have wasted mine👍
They are sending us a message. They have to.let us know what they are doing And they call it free will lol
I found it exciting. Just don't expect to much.
Impressive movie even if only for the famous actors and familiar faces appearing here. Thanks for the upload.
THIS LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER FILM IN SEARCH OF A PLOT ! ! !
I hate to say this, but this movie is an excellent example of how big studio budgets, big name actors [C'mon, love him or hate him C.Heston is a BIG name!] and quality special effects [also $$$] cant overcome a bad story, bad dialog and bad directing. Looked to me like most of the actors in this one HAD to be there as opposed to wanted to be there. But... it was entertaining none the less, I'm a sucker for bad SciFi flicks. Keep em coming! 🤪
But it wasn't really that. Instead, it was Japanese investors trying to recycle some of all those trade dollars into something other than manufacturing. Gakken and NHK oversaw production, and Nippon Steel put up the money. For 1990, it's a great looking film. The story isn't any worse than a few dozen SF films of the era that I can think of.
Sunshine meets 2001 and Parker Lewis Can't Lose.
For 1990, the effects of this film kick butt. But the investors put up a budget of about 50 million dollars for it, so it wasn't like they cheaped out. You can see this as one of those obscure films that had a big influence on the Expanse. The cinematographer of the film has worked a lot with James Cameron.
Fellow viewers, don't be so harsh and so quick in calling this production boring and useless - It cured my insomnia after only10 minutes of the films commencement!
How did this "director" attract any funding and famous faces? Must be nepotism involved. At least he wasn't given a professional screenwriter. THAT part is genuine. It may even be a nine-year-old kid writing for free.
素晴らしい映像と音声をありがとうございます!大好きな映画なので観られてよかったです!ごちそうさまでした
Thanks for sharing this great movie! I don't think it was as bad as some of the comments lead you to believe. Blessings of love and light to all! Happy New Year!
Not too bad. Charleston Heston, Tim Matheson, Peter Boyle, and other good actors.
Reminds me of the early 90s, summertime evenings watching movies we rented with freinds. Good times
Not bad for 40 years old... not bad at all...
Released 1990. By
thank you

Maurice Jarre's score seems to have been greatly-inspired by Carl Orff's O'Fortuna. I'm not sure why that is the case but I must say it is perfect for Alex's flight into the photo-sphere. When she detonates the bomb at 1:40:45, the music's crescendo makes me think of being in some impossibly vast, strange place, bearing witness to the biggest explosion in history. It's perfect. In fact, I've watched this film several times since its original release, just to make it that far.
Typical 90s cliche movie: the brave soldiers who argue all the time but solve every problem for the greater good, the big bad corporation, the lost super brave and super important grandson, the supermodel irl given the role of a superwoman, while she has no acting talent whatsoever... With all that not really bad. Watchable.
Thank you for uploading.
But it was entertaining
Since the film came out in 1990, and was made in the late 80s, maybe you are bit off in your observations?
“Solar Crisis “ is the very good sci-fiction movie at best.
There is a great cast in this movie. Well worth the watch.
Very good Flick. Sci-fi, And excellent cast. 👍.
Very good movie for studying English! Thanks!
Charlton Heston, Jack Palance and Peter Boyle walk into the SAG office and say they need to make a few bucks before the Christmas season...
I would love to see a documentary about the making of this film. It has a fascinating, troubled production.
did i see charlton heston & jack palance ? thank god for alex though
I always liked this movie. Especially the ending
I love this movie, it's so bad it's awesome. Been a fave of mine for many years.
SOLAR CRISIS NO THANKS!!! I THINK I WILL STICK WITH STAR TREK & STAR WARS ! ! ! LIVE LONG AND PROSPER AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU ! ! !
Extremely over-acted, with ridiculous dialogue, but since I watched it for free, I can’t really complain 😁
33:12 Teen me was happy this was PG-13 and I was able to rent this at the store. This is the only thing I remember from this movie.
So, they've got a talking bomb. I wonder which of this film's creators saw "Dark Star" and remembered it.
It does suck the movie wasn't allowed to start at the beginning nor end properly with ending credits. That's not the movie's fault, but the uploader's fault. That really sucks. Still, it is a good movie.
Really nice movie
This could've been so good. Well, at least the effects still hold up
Wowza! They emptied out the long time unemployed B-actor closet for this one.
Funny that they think anything Earthlings could ever do could have any effect on the sun, but that's fantasy for ya.
Great Classic..... it's just like everyone is on Prozac...lol love it though.
The military music playing as Charlton Heston flies the pod to Earth...haha...
Well done 👏
Another cinematic effort in need of a science advisor/script doctor.
Even with such a great cast ,, even this movie can't be saved ,,, 😮
Even great actors need a decent script. This plot had great potential in the hands of a better script writer. Im guessing, this was a paycheck for the actors, and they put in effort, they got paid for and nothing else.
were is the rest of the movie
thank you thank you thank you big fan here
The important first two minutes of the film are missing, and the width of the picture has been cropped from 21.9 to 16.9.
It's a movie filled with filler dialogue dancing around the main story.
Very frustrating.
But the visual effects were pretty good.
Especially good for 1990
Decent sci-fi movie...Not the brightest but enjoyable nevertheless...
It was cool to see Charlton Heston and Jack Palance again...
This is starting out with a David Lynch type vibe. Pretty weird! 🤩💥
kinda like a collage girl on all 4s with a dog using her
The beginning of this movie is missing.
How did they manage to make this so boring?
Is there anything about this that makes any sense?
Naked women!
Because it's science fiction it doesn't have to make sense!!!
@@andrewhillis9544Good sci fi does make sense. This is just stupid.
And that explosion effect at the end rocks. A huge blinding white fireball then a force that swells up like a blister from beneath the sun's surface and pops right when the magnetic field lines break. When the star ship Helios is leaving for home, you can see that mega-flare erupting like a giant geyser into space, AWAY from Earth's direction. Mission accomplished! I think this concept was way better than the "solar bomb" in the movie Sunshine, meant to somehow restart fusion reactions in the sun's core. That was way too ludicrous for me to accept.
1:22:53 does she REALLY SAY THIS??? WOW she'd give these "INSTURMENTS" a "HAND JOB" if it would help get her through?? just- WHY???
LMAO, thanks for the time stamps. I read some of the comments before watching these movies on RUclips . ------ As for why she was given the line, I have a theory. The producer, or the director, or someone else involved with making the casting decisions probably auditioned several women, and the one that got the part worked the hardest and gave it everything she had. 🤫😜
I remember this movie being named _Starfire_ .
Super exciting and scifi to boot!
I was always amazed that a movie of this size with this cast was unheard of in the States. I stumbled across it in a video rental shop. Far to deliberately paced for its own good. That may be why it was not wide released in the U.S. Thank you for YOUR post.
At least the actors and production teams were making paychecks.
Even the computer is boring!
Released in 1990.
I loved Alex (unprogrammed) ...
super
Listen to the message. Wake up sheeple
there was a message? I thought it was just bad dialogue
Happy New Year 2024 Everyone.
Pls Be Reminded That This Was Just A 🎥 Movie.
Great 🎥 Movie Brings People From All Walks Of Life #together . Let Us Watch This 🎥 Movie Together . Again We Remind That's This Was Just A 🎥 Movie.
Updated On 11th January 2024.
Once Again We Wish You All A Happy New Year 2024.
Would have been better if it hadn't started in the middle, where you're just dumped into a whole bunch of dialog and situations without any idea WTF is going on. Suggest TeddysTube link below for the beginning even though is lower resolution... AT least it has a beginning and end.....
On the plus side, if you just watch the other for the intro, switch here for the rest since the resolution is so much better and no beeped out dialog..
yeah, missing the 2 minutes of exposition is bad, but not sure if it is worth the resolution drop for scenes like 34:35...
The self driving trucks are a worry...close to the truth
Look. Its bullshit when you see a spacecraft engine running. Because once you hit high speed it will go that speed a million years and more. Maybe Have to ajust for gravity pulls, like suns. Bullshit
DDF, YOU COULD HAVE AT LEAST ROLLED THE CREDITS, INSTEAD OF CUTTING IT SHORT...
We Enjoyed This Great Thriller Movie 💯 Take Us Home🚀🌎🏡😇 Love Charlton Heston &Tim Matheson🥰Thanks DDF👍 11/22/23👏👏Ca🇺🇸🌓 6:45pm✨️Happy Thanksgiving🦃🥧
Great job uploader, yet another film ruined by pointless annoying non stop ads, pure greed, also some of the ads are SCAMS
RUclips red gets rid of ads
It's a great classic. If you want a dumb movie, with crap actors, there are many! But this isn't one of them.
I couldn't agree more. In fact I was impressed to see how many big time actors and familiar faces this movie had.
Special effects are good ???
Sooo much could have been cut out on the good editing floor 🙄
Finally I know which movie the "Sunshine" derives from, and "Solar Crisis" is of course so many times better than that 2008 trash. This one's final scenes clearly derive from "2001: A Space Odyssey".
It's pretty good, but of course the lie for grownups shall in 90% consist of truth, so I wonder how many ppl were able to catch it? The kernel of the plot lies in aliasing The Evil with not believing in global, environmental catastrophe and "not messing with nature", and The Good with Science and visions of global unity. Movie is full of Biblical references. The key symbolic moments are: Mike Kelso revealing his "crisis and successful mission (which of course it will) leading to united world" idea to Travis @56:06, Haas talking Latin to Mike @1:00:52, Mike alluding Teague to Antichrist on plane @1:15:55 and this being strengthened by the scene @1:17:54 where Teague brings Mike to a scenery to reveal his power and conquer him. There's also an earlier stage feminist motive, where "a new woman" emancipates herself through man-induced involuntary treachery, and redeems herself in the end, substituting the Bowman's male character from "2001". This time the smartass but naive Freddy is protagonist, but androids/bionics still aren't nice, contrary to our 30 years later when all of this, AI, and generally posthumanism are already almost glorified.
This movie was made in '90, UN started preparations to their Agenda '21 yet in '80s, they just haven't yet decided at that time for headlong commitment to "Global Boiling", and nobody was ready to label CO2 as a poison. Also, the title of the novel this movie bases on is "Crisis 2050". Funny how the dots just match world's milestones since then! But nobody connects the dots and nobody cares...
Anybody noticed anything else interesting or important? - please add.
You mean like global domination and control of all food and products by IXL?
What is IXL in roman numerals?
@@northernlassie2755 Non-canonical 50-9=41, should rather be XLI. But why should it be a Roman numeral and what's the significance of 41?
IX = 9....L= 50.... but XLI is 41 😋 ....there is a website IXL in the EU....just saying
@@northernlassie2755 Regarding "control of all food", I haven't touched on this directly, but a part of Agenda '21 was Project Wildlands, where 50-75% of land would be returned "to nature", with ~25% completely excluded from human access (except patrols and licensed environmentalists). Considering modern turn against breeding, especially cattle, artificial meet (even printed!) and patented GMO, including once-sowed cereals, how to deny the "control of all food"? They stowed it for some time, but today they came up with that agenda 30x30, where they start with the milder 30%, for the good beginnings of course.
The biggest problem of humanity is its selfish
I DON'T MIND TRASHY SCI-FI IT AMUSES ME ! ! !
Well....at 3:19 to 3:21, we see the same good old writing pad in the hands of the lady astronaut......😂😂😂
You mean the "clipboard"?
You wanna know how many of these cheesy movies I have Is watched so far.. At least four of them.. And one really good western..a old Western with ronald reagan..😂
WTF told Jack he could sing? :)
she,s gone steve,,its over & done. ... thats o.k., i have 5 in my cupboard..
I made it to 26 minutes...
When was this made
1990
they're using the sets from Space 1999.......😂🤣😂
The End.
Happy New Year Everyone
Happy new year thear❤🎉from egypt
Had much more potential but the dialog is so bad ..did they hire a high school student to write the script ?!
Esther
Well at least there weren't any consorship blurs, but.. - what do you have against movie openings and end credits? Why on earth would you remove that??!! - For this reason I give a 👎 on THIS upload, and IN STEAD I give my 👍 to another upload of the same movie that I found: ruclips.net/video/i729rZWTmDo/видео.html which has the FULL movie, including the opening and end credits. - Plus, for this youtube recommendation I click the "Do not recommend channel" - whereas on the other channel I click the "subscribe". - So STOP RUINING THE FROGING MOVIES!
the earth is a speck on the sun, a rocket, is not even a pin prik.. such a waste..
I've watched a lot of scifi starting with the original Flash Gordon on TV.
I was pleasantly surprised at this one. It had famous stars at the beginning of there fame.
Better than b rated and close to a classical like the red planet with updated technology. 👍
Annabel Schofield used to be very pretty.
Did she lose her good looks then ? ? ?
👍
Oh my word. This one’s a stinker.
And how.
59:06 Gotta love how the connector shapes are round and hexagonal, respectively in one scene, only for both to be hexagonal by the next scene at 59:16 - but with "Freddys" hex not even being aligned with the position of the other hexagon just before having its "lock". Yup, that's totally going to fit together... not. What this flick could have been with more budget assigned to it.
4.2 on imdb. Vying to be one of the worst scifi movies, but Battlefield Earth is the worst.
These actors must have graduated from the William Shatner school of overacting.
Charlton Heston has several Oscars and awards. It's the nepotist director, screenwriter and funder who are crap.
😂😂😂
They have AI but still use clipboards? Okay....
😂
Plenty of effects and okay as a film, but the story didnt hang together too well and the acting sucked really badly, so the screen writing and direction obviously did too.. Not one of those films you come to the end of and feel positive about. Felt like a bit of a waste of time. But thanks for the upload. It helped fill a boring afternoon.🙄😴😴😴😴😴👎👎👎
It's only a bit over $100 a year to subscribe to RUclips and you can watch anything without ads! It's the best money I've ever spent!
I'm with you on that! Plus instructional videos, crochet and guitar playing for ne, long form interviews same as a podcast, downloadable for when I've no signal and youtube music😁
?? I pay $12 not to see ads. You are talking about u tube cable. it started out at $35 a month and went horribly wrong as greed kicked in. Its exactly the same as old cable.
30 minutes in and I was half dead from boredom. Couldn't take any more.
I have to agree with you. I barely managed 18 minutes into it, and i cant take it any more. The dialogs are shallow. The actors (except Charlton Heston) are not believable (and even bored - like they hate to make that film - they themselfs arent excited to make the film) , the music is worse than a elevator music and also very boring. I know its a low budget movie - and probably every budget went into the bill for Charlton Heston - but still: at least the script could have been better. And i dont mean the slow pace,... because i like slow movies like 2001 Odyssey or Blade Runner, or Space Operas in general (Like Star Trek the movie also). So its not about the slow pace. This movie here is simply garbage. Hell even the sets and camera works, and photography is bad.
The only thing i ''kind'' of liked was the retro special effects in the first 18 minutes... the spaceship scenes etc - those are quiet ok for the time and the budget. But that alone doesnt saves the movie.
I fell asleep twice, bad soap opera and acting.
I got to 20 minutes.
I can't remember the guys name that played in Ben Hur.
Charlton Heston
