You sit here watching him play and while you are listening you think how amazing it is the way he is playing. Then he looks up and smiles. You realize how much fun he is having. Thank you Lord for the talent you gave him
How can an amazing guitarist like this not be on the best 100 list??? What a fucking injustice. This man is so good and so original there are no words to describe it. He's the closest thing to guitar God...Thank you for everything Mr. Burnside!
I agree the music is so beautiful that it should be respected, digested, and left to be shared..The music surpasses color and is more recognizable on a spiritual level...
Well, when my first wife left me God knows it put me out on the road Well, when my first wife left me God knows it put me out on the road Yeah every since that day now people I've been driftin' from door to door When I get my baby back again God knows I ain't gon leave my home no mo If I get my baby back again God knows I ain't gon leave my home no mo Yeah Im gonna stay home with my baby God knows Im gon' sattle down ... travellin' people Know my clothes got very thin ... travellin' people Know my clothes got very thin Yeah Im just sittin here wanderin, oh man Would my baby took me back again?
I love this guy......He is the all-time great blues player....but if you count Stevie.....two different styles....but blues though....this is soooooo nice
What's missing from modern blues is the pain and despair that fueled first generation blues as this. It can't be helped but this was the music of not knowing when you were going to eat again, of not having the money to buy a bag of chips. Blues is being done today by people who really don't know what want is and it shows. But that's just how it is today, I guess.
If you go on Pandora and start an R.L. Burnside station you will find a lot of these songs and Pandora will give you the album the songs are from and where to buy them.
@quovadis1952 ,,right on bro!!!,,hes picking the fuck out that guitar,,but you know most all the old time black folks could pick like that it just wasnt too many got world recognition just only around their community,,its dang good too see this good stuff!!!
@eldorado62 JLH was a big influence on him - I'm surprised they never had the chance to play together RL and Woods' "acoustic stories" version of this song is plain haunting (as is JLH's original)
I think Lightnin' Hopkins gives old RL a run for his money when it comes to bein' the baddest mofo of all time. Other then that this song is hypnotic, Burnside at his best.

This is more of what the world needs!

the man is full of raw emotion
If the blues don't move you to the core, you're a cold, dead fish.
Not a single dislike. Hardly a surprise. This is magical. Especially after a few good beers and a smoke at the end of a hard week's work.
He brought the blues from the 1930's into the 1970's. What a legend, my sister introduced me to him about 10 years ago. Thank God!
This video series is just great. The sound comes through well, the filming is clear and straightforward, etc.

@Dressommer I was just about to say the same thing. I knew it sounded familiar
I think the tuning is Open G but with a couple drop notes,
Kinda like drop D
I might be wrong though, If you know im wrong please tell me.
Iggy Pop eat ya heart out...THIS is raw power.
@vatonaught yes, and it looks like he keeps a finger on the c, which he does in poor black mattie too
There are som resemblents here to Hobo blues by John Lee Hooker. But man, there both banging. Im more into R.L. Burnside now.
where did you get this from?
@123Niky tune your guitar to d-g-a-g-b-d- (from low to high) then play along with the instruction video :)
I think Lightnin' Hopkins gives old RL a run for his money when it comes to bein' the baddest mofo of all time. Other then that this song is hypnotic, Burnside at his best.
What tuning is this?
open g
standard
HOBO BLUES :)
what tuning is he in?
open g
sounds like open G(DGDGBE)or some variation of G
Haha, he's laughing because he KNOWS it's John Lee Hooker's riff! :)
not riff but lyrics
and what he speaks about his wife?
i don't anderstand.
Bb king
Its not standard, its open G =)
He sounds a bit like early John Lee Hooker.
Tá uma falta de respeito essas propagandas, inclusive do meio das músicas. Nunca vou pagar para mercenário.
I'm white. I just know my limitations. haha
