My father and I spent so many hours of my childhood building Estes rockets and we had the 110 camera. I have no idea where any of the photos are, if they exist. He passed away 10 years ago today -- I am typing this just about to the hour was when he had his second post surgery heart attack in the hospital. Those kits of cardboard and balsa were launched by us on Figure Eight Island and Singer Island, both of which had large empty lots at the time, now covered in houses. They hung on fishing line from pins in the ceiling of my bedroom. Good memories. Thank you for the video.

19:45 - I had, built and flew an Estes 2 stage rocket way back in the 60's. It was a lot of fun. Sadly I never knew about the camera payloads. Thanks for the memories.

I am COMPLETELY jealous..... Reminds me of the days I had a huge HO Bachman Train layout that was controlled via Radio Micro-chips circa 1998. Bachman was Life-like upscale HO Train line..... The only thing I would add to your layout is a HO race set with a pair of road rail crossing incorporated within your layout...... Nothing like running a race while avoiding contact with passing rail cars..... Great job....

Thanks for the bonus Model Rocket clips. As a kid I had an Astrocam and launched it many times. A friend's father bought a Cineroc, and talked to us about it extensively. We watched the first launch and camera failed to pop off the rocket so it nose dived into ground actually landing on a road surface about 100 feet from us. The camera exploded into a 1000 pieces.
I recently built an Omega with my son and we launched it a few times reaching 1100 feet with a small altimeter in the payload section.

I loved the ending segment on model rocketry. as a kid in the early 80's I was big into model trains and rockets. I had an Astrocam. it made about a dozen flights before one of the plastic fins broke. I was never able to repair it successfully. However, I soon realized that most of Estes Rockets shared the same tube sizes and quickly swapped the nose on to another rocket. I believe it was a Sizzler that I had modified to use D series engines. I had some great pictures from that camera. wonder if my mother still has any of them... I will have to look.
also, that is a killer train layout. and the work on the bridge is spectacular.

I wasn’t around in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s, but the meticulous effort being performed on this structure, it’s my professional opinion that the proposed bridge will withstand even a Lionel scale locomotive. We did my 8th grade science project on rockets and used Estes model rockets for it with a clear payload that you could put quarters in. Basically ran 3 flights with different engines and payloads each to test how payloads affect rocket flights. Easy and fun way to do a school project with something my friend and I enjoyed, model rockets. Still have some of my smaller rockets today but wish I still had some of the larger ones, but just don't have space for them.

Absolutely beautiful bridge! BTW, if your narrow gauge enters the line on the side it shares, i.e. common rail, then no moving point is needed. I have two such turnouts on my layout. It eliminates having to throw the switch and also the turnout motor if you're using them. A static point, guard rail and frog juicer is all that is needed and they move the standard their way and the narrow the other. Just thought you might like to know that. Now, if you're crossing the narrow over from the side it enters to run the other side, then you'd need a moving point. Love your work! ...Claude

Great tip! In fact, my next video will feature this modification and I'll be sure to give the proper credit during.

I remember those Estes 110 cameras, and I never got a usable photo out of it in the dozen or so launches I tried in the mid 70s!
Your railroad efforts look great. I have a very large attic space in a commercial building I own and I'm tempted to put a railroad in it.... Now that we have 3D printing, model railroading seems a lot more interesting. I'd have fun making models of local buildings in the city I live in (Sunnyvale, California).

Love that PFE drag, always looks exceptional. Too bad we couldn't run the coal drag at Logan with our Cab Forwards

Beautiful bridge! The SP cab forward looks good going across. You need to buy a pair of Tamiya Sharp Point Sprue Cutters # TAM74035 for your plastic kits. I built Estes model rockets in the late 60's, early 70's. Those were good fun!
