Great info! I am in Minnesota, and we don't usually, in my area at least, don't see a lot of heat strips. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
Your truck is always so well kept man. Nicely done. I hope to keep my stuff the sane when the time comes.
Do a video on how to troubleshoot sequencers,Thanks guy
I’d very much appreciate a “101” circuit video. Thanks!
Todd
There's really no need for heat sequences anymore use a contactor. Many manufacturers have got away from them and only use contactor now.
Good vid. in a pinch u can use contactors & delay on make time delays.
Thanks for making this video. I'm new to this trade and I'm writing down all these nuggets of info as I hear them. Appreciate it.
I gotta show this to my Canadian government that think heat pumps are gunna last in -40 temps lol
I love the consistent posting! Keep it up
Mention/document the way the power is supplied to the fan on most heat kits to ensure it runs until heat strips are de-energized
I like to program the stat to run 30 s after the heat kit / strips are deenergized when demand is satisfied. Maybe the kit will last longer as there isn’t residual heat when the blower stops
Double throw on a relay/contactor just means that it has contacts for normally open (NO) _and_ normally closed (NC). Normally closed would be used so that the load being switched is OFF when the contactor has power (reverse the low voltage signal, basically.) This isn't really useful for heat strips where you want the 'call' to turn them on, so DT isn't a common configuration.
Nice bro. Heat conditioning
That’s an old heil horseshoe unit 10 seer. Great video brother.
Can you show us or make a video on how to wire a heat pump with heat strip?
I wish you would go more in detail of what do you do step by step why do you do it and what are you checking and same with the install vids please do a step by step install i really want to learn please and thank you im obsessed with your vids
@QuaIityHVACR. Omg honestly i didnt think you would respond i was looking at your tool bag 2023 version and i will love to have it filled with all your tools i looked it up and its almost 1.5k im saving up to get it and i just started in the hvac field did 2 yrs of hs and love everything about it and love your content so much love what you do and what you stand for shout out to you man for being the goat hvac tech on yt
Interesting looking package unit.
Great explaining sequencers
Great job
Yes do more controls 👍👍👍
Toooo cold 🥶 brrrrr
Good job Zack
Great Video. Thank you for sharing.
Those old dogs last a long time. Supply and return are on opposite sides from normal.
Great video!
These videos make me love California
Super Sir Very Talated
What temperature are heat pump good until in your experience?
This is very difficult to answer. I am an HVAC dealer and technician. Older heat pumps are generally good to 32 degrees and then the furnace will take over. Depending on how deep your pockets are and how big your home is, you can basically get systems that technically can reach -22 degrees, but big bucks to get those. If you have natural gas, you get a decent Heat pump that can go to around 5 degrees or even -5 and have a furnace take over or heat strips. I am not a fan heat strips and they are not really used in Colorado. Nearly all my customers get a dual-fuel setup, if they have solar that helps offset some of the electrical usage, but it warmer and less expensive to run a natural gas furnace. We don't do package units unless you consider an RTU a package unit. It is all about how well your home is insulated, your windows, size of home and how warm you would like your home. But again, I only sell dual-fuel setups here in Colorado. We have to derate them for altitude but variable speed systems are our primary systems that are sized correctly with a proper load calculation for heat and cooling, not just your basic Manual J.
Great!
they obviously don't get maintenance lol
Well us California folks have never been in that weather. Lol
That old filthy thing looks like it needs replaced.
put something on your face, all that red and pink screams "almost frostbite"
I would love a video on sequencer operations. Don’t work on a lot of heat pumps in NJ. Also troubleshooting would be great
Yessss I would also love a troubleshooting video on this
AC service tech channel. Get the book too
A heat sequencer is nothing more than a cheap time delay relay (contactor). Used to prevent all the heat elements from coming on at once to preventing an excessive voltage drop on the main line, affecting the blower motor attempting to start and maybe even blowing the pole transformer.
They use thermo-discs that activate over time from a little heater (coil) mounted in the base. They will fail more often than a contactor.
@@That01guyT which book I have his mini split book and refrigerant charging procedures book
@@mattbilodeau2433 I thought both of them had chapters or operation on heat pumps. I read them a while ago but remember learning a lot from them. I could be thinking of a different book too
Time to replace that old unit, and always cycle the electric heat down with your amp meter attached to make sure the blower does not cycle off until all the strips cycle off. Don't want any coils burning with no air flow, if it is wired wrong that will happen. A lot of old units use a back jumper off the sequencer to energize a blower speed in EM. HEAT mode if the tstat does not call for G in that mode.
YES GO INTO CONTROLS ‼️
I really enjoy your videos. Being a longtime HVAC guy myself having worked in wholesale distribution, contracting and for manufacturing it’s always refreshing to see REAL service and troubleshooting skills. The mini split manufacturer I work for definitely appreciates contractors such as yourself. Keep up the good work!
Glad to see an HVAC repair done honestly! So many wouldve just told the guy he needs a new heat kit and billed a very high charge and maybe he wouldnt have even suspected .
Replace sequencers with comtactor and relay 🤷♂️
It’s actually a thermal relay as an opposed to a magnetic relay.
And that is how you fill up a work truck, you say this will never happen to me again, and you throw one of each in it.thanks for helping this people out,it takes guts.
HEY! Good morning Zach and thumbs UP!
The heat suhqencer r bad 😂 jokes! Good video
My weakness!Great video
thumbs up
Nice work Zac, it sure was a cold day over there for you, and nice service to your customer. here yesterday ( Sun ) it reached 33 c ( 91f) so i had my Daiken A/C on cooling 24c 👍 Au
@QuaIityHVACR. 👍
I dont even know what a heat sequencher is..
