  • This little village is tucked into the mountains of Nantan, in central Kyoto Prefecture. It is just a few kilometers from Miyamacho, a popular sightseeing destination for tourists wanting to experience a taste of traditional Japanese village life, but this village does not seem to get many visitors. I walked through in mid-afternoon in early June, with water flowing here and there and freshly planted rice in the fields.

How wonderful. Such beauty court in the moment of time, as if touching a twig or moving a pot, would make the whole dream collapse.
An enchanted area is now a part of me forever, Thank you. I loved how the old overgrown gardens were clinging on to the past memories,
of an era barely kept alive. The kayos of water channels and pipes seemed almost like "Heath Robinson" and the fact that it was so quiet seemed to be all that was
needed to let you dream on.
I am and have always been a sentimental sponge and will easily soak up everything like this. I used to be an Artist, yet now retired, I tend to dabble in too many
places. I am also trying to create a garden with a similar feeling as these, Letting the grass grow taller in places, creating many water features and even trying
my hand at sculpture again, with small heads hidden in the weeds, as if from Ghibli!
I did enjoy this so much, so thank you again

The lived in newer buildings look good - great to see the thatched roof at 6:04 - and the sound of running water sooths the ear 👍😊

I saw one person out working in their garden, but it is a very small village - more like a collection of houses really. Most of the houses looked lived in, but I guess people are just inside. And apparently there's a cat living in the village too, sadly he didn't make an appearance.

Too many ads interrupting the tranquility 😭

Thank you for the feedback and sorry to hear about the disruptions. I try my best to create a relaxing and interesting viewing experience when filming out in the field, and it is unfortunate when that experience is disrupted. However, this little village is not my home, and it takes a significant amount of time, resources, and expenditure to make these kind of walks in out of the way places available. Enabling ads is what currently makes it possible to film these walks, and my understanding is that YT serves ads to viewers based on a unique user profile. So some people will see more, and some less.
If you find yourself watching a lot of RUclips, a Premium subscription will eliminate ads in all videos, provide access to a Spotify-like music streaming service, and help support the channels you watch and enjoy. In Japan a subscription is about the price of 3 cups of coffee a month and I have found it well worth it for a dramatically improved viewing experience across the platform (they haven't sponsored me despite this glowing recommendation lol). Thanks again for the feedback and see you on down the road🤠
