Cheers,
Been waiting for this one since I first discovered JCM's channel - this should be epic
I am glad i waited until now...the learning curve on this channel has prepared me for THIS topic, can't wait to share it with you guys!
Jimmy at his peak!!
No quarter solo incredible
Dazed solos awesome
Whole lotta loves boogie chillun solo magical
Looking forward to this!
It was peak Jimmy, absolutely, the level of dexterity, is...ridiculous, A GUITAR HERO!
Saw the premire back in 1976. To say it was an incredible experience is a huge understatement. Life changing, literally.
I bought one of the first Lps here in the Detroit area Harmony House.
When I did the clerk gave me 2 tickets to the premier. And I completely agree it was life changing. The sound system in the theater was put through stacks of Marshall Amps, all the local disc jockeys were there.
PEACE
LOVE
LED ZEPPELIN
I can imagine, it's a powerful film...to say the least :)
Hi Jose,
I thought the premiere was today... but then I checked the date.
After I bought my first of many, many copies and formats of *The Soundtrack From The Film - The Song Remains The Same,* in 1976-77 on all the commonly available formats: double LP album, 8-track cartridge tape, cassette tape, and in 1987 on compact disc (CD) and then in 1984 - the film was released on Beta & VHS videocassette and eventually on DVD 1999. I was totally mesmerised by the complete package of the LP album version.
In addition to listening intently to the stellar, reach-for-the-stars, super-hot performance the band gave to their audience at Madison Square Garden those three summer nights in July 1973 - and letting my imagination run wild and get lost in the music, whilst looking and reading the inner booklet pages with those awesome film stills and *Rolling Stone* journalist, Cameron Crowe’s cute mini-essay, plus the liner notes - I was also getting rather delightfully intoxicated by the scent of the inks and chemicals used in the printing process of the LP album sleeve and inner booklet pages... A multi-sensory and multi-dimensional high if you like. LOL! 🎧🎶🔦📖🔍
You have all formats, so cool. Yes the complete package version is amazing, a friend of mine has it, LUCKY guy! A multi-sensory experience is always GREAT STUFF hehe, hope you enjoy the doc!
I remember in 1976, I was ten years old, and my family had just gotten the original HBO. It was a little box on top of your TV set, and it pumped in movies that had recently come out. I must've watched the SRTS almost every time it came on.
You just can't miss this movie right? I did the same when it was on WB!
@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Yes, JMC, I STILL watch it, beginning to end, just because I love seeing the Shepperton Studio parts, Bonham racing at Santa Pod, the Plumpton Place parts, John playing snooker in Kidderminster, Hammerwood Estate where the first gangster scene was filmed - L Zep were going to purchase Hammerwood and turn it into a residential studio like Headley Grange. And Peter walking around inside Horselunges, Jimmy climbing behind Boleskine House. And JPJ at Chorleywood, John having a pint there in Cutnall Green. And I think Robert, Maureen, Karac and ... Charlie's wife, their daughter, I've forgotten her name. It brings back such a plethora of memories and, in turn, emotions... Although I was young, the 70s were magical. You know, Randy Hansen is a neighbor and a friend of mine here in Seattle. You would flip on some of the gear he has. Like old eight speaker Marshall cabinets (before Townshend suggested that Jim Marshall build them in four speaker cabinets)... And early foot pedals made by that British ... Roger Mayer, Paul Cornish, he's got several of those silver, round Ultra Vibe pedals (I believe he made some for Jimi AND Jimmy Page). I love everything Led Zeppelin. I love you, man!
Nice, lookin forward to this one
Hope you enjoy it!
Hey JCM. Really looking forward to this one. For a kid who grew up watching Song Remains the Same at the Midnight movies, and wearing out the album, I am really interested in hearing the backstory 😃
Oh man...it's been quite the experience to really go deep on the research, i've taken my time to carefully construct this and i'm still working on it! Hope you like this!
I remember seeing it for the first time in 76 as a 16 year old, and being an Aussie I hadn’t see them live and the only footage I’d ever seen of them was super show
, so it was mind blowing seeing the movie . Must have watched it 100 times since then , can’t wait for this episode 🤘🤘🤘
Me too, born in 60, my exact experience but an American boy!
I have probably watched it an even 100 times so far.
Rock & Roll is the best music, kinda sad it is diminishing as the world is dumbed down.
Had this on vhs about 40 years ago, also saw it at the midnight movies
We're going to New York City 1973!
I remember well hitting the theater for the big screen Zeppelin show.
It was the best Rock movie ever made and still stands as the best.
You are the best Rockumentarian JCM, far exceeds Time Life DVD's of Rock history; you are a true artist Jose.
God bless you! 👨🌾 ✌️
O.M.G-Get ready folks. This is going to be AWESOME
Cosmic energy everybody goes yeah bash and then jimmy rips ur heart out with incredible blues runs in C oh so beautiful that solo is Led Zeppelin the best that ever did it ♥️✌🏼
That run in C is amazing, the way he plays a triple octave lick, basically repeating the pattern with such fluidity...he was really a guitar hero, second to none!
Great way to spend a Saturday morning: a new, highly anticipated doc illuminating one of Zep's many great moments.
This is a short Trailer but trust me ..the premiere will be quite the event :)
You are absolutely KILLING IT! 👍🏾🏆
This has been quite an experience ! Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks man! Hope you enjoy it!
So excited for this one--JCM, you're the best!
You guys are the best! I've really worked hard on this one, i do this for every episode but this one...has sentimental value, so much more than say Love Beach hehe.
This is going to be epic ❤
Do not miss it!
Zep in thier prime at thier best from the opening anticipation in the limo to the thunder of bonham starting rock n roll and then Boom! Lights on and there you have the 4 greatest musicians gracing the stage stunning MSG !
Bonham's all right let's go...is pure ELECTRICITY!
I remember going to the midnight showings on Saturday nights, there was always some dude yelling, "Jimmy Fucking Page" !!!
Hahah yeah, you kinda want to say that while your watching!
Man I remember at 15 in the movie theater I couldn't wait for it. Now its a Coda all over again. 🎸🎹🥁🎤
They need to release all those outtakes of the limo ride, on the Starship, backstage, etc. with audio. Some clips can be seen in the Traveling Riverside Blues video.
Agree, there's a lot of stuff that needs to see the light of day, the 2018 box set was a lost opportunity!!!
This is gonna be Guuuuud !!
Jason i've been seriously working hard on this one, it has SO much sentimental value which makes it harder to discuss because you want to take SO MANY roads with it!...hope you enjoy it :)
You are a beast! God Bless you bro! Thank you for all your time and effort and dedication and passion for us fans!
My pleasure Mark, working HARD to get this done, SO many things to discuss!
Great!
Ah this is Gonna be AWESOME-U Are Truly THE MAN Jose & Thanx in 28 Hours Advance !!!
Can not wait for this! You read my mind. And just in time for the anniversaries of those shows.
This is the ONE I've been waiting for..👍👏👏👏
David, it will worth the wait, a lot of work has gone into this one....i LOVE the movie so much, hope it feels this way!
Looking forward to another great storytelling session, Jose! Ernie
Can't wait.wooo
super excited!
Big time!
LZ, again, should have filmed more of their shows. The group had the financial means to film many of their performances.
Agreed, so many dates could have been filmed...the problem was the directors and such, i will talk about this on the documentary!
Unfortunately they were worried about the concert gate. In their defense they couldn't have known the financial windfall that they would have generated. There's no doubt that Jimmy Page regrets not filming Zeppelin more. A lot more. My only wish is Jimmy release all 3 nights of the Song Remains the Same films without the dream sequences.
@@georgeseif102 agreed, they're the low point.
Thanks Jose! I can't wait!
This has been an epic journey of coffee and latenight edits, hope you enjoy it!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I can imagine! We all appreciate your hard work on your documentaries! I will! 🙂
I would pay $100.00 if I had it for that live feed on tuesday.
You gave me hope again Jose.
Rock & Roll! 👨🌾
Hey Marty, thanks for tuning in to the live sesh, this episode has A lot of stuff. I can't tell you on the editing marathons hehe.
Amazing , I love Led Zeppelin forever ✌️🔥 Thank You.
Rock on! The COSMIC ENERGY!
🌠THE COSMIC ..ENERGY...YEAH !!! ....BASH !!! JCM RULZZZ !!!
Cosmic Energy indeed Greg, a lotta fun!
Espetacular!!!
Muy pronto! Wait for it :)
Gonna be good! If anyone can do it Jose can.
Thank you very much, working hard on this one, lots of coffee :)
Bought it on VHS in the early 90's but I didn't rewatch it often. The fantasy sequences and whatnot were distracting. I wish they had just done a straight concert film like the Zeppelin DVD. Even though it's not complete shows it's still much better. In my opinion.
I enjoy the fantasy sequences, but trust me, i GET what you mean. It's an iconic film, with all of its weirdness, hope you enjoy this doc!
Yeah,
True, the fantasy sequences suck but the live footage captured is Zeppelin at thier very best and worth fast forwarding through the fantasy!!!
Extraordinary footage❤
A massive one JCM.
Gets me thinking I would like you to do your magic on the making of Performance.
The James Fox Mick Jagger cult epic..
Theres no such thing as too much swagger
I need to check Performance, do you have the link by chance?
I picked up the guitar because of this movie. I saw it on MTV first.
I know the feeling, what a FANTASTIC film right?
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories
Agreed. JP was on fire. His improvisation on DAC got me hooked. Also, NQ.
I heard Jimmy was disappointed with the film, or upset. Is this true?
i remember getting this as my 2nd ever Led Zeppelin album in about 1979: still rate is as one of their best live shows/series of shows.
Watching the movie - I wasn´t so enthused.
N.B. By the way, the album - were those shows solely recorded from the three at Madison Square Garden?
Great question, i will talk about both the movie and the album, as separate episodes because i want to take my time and cover the backstory for both. I LOVE the soundtrack.
When I was 13, my father finally let me use the record player, so I went out and purchased 2 albums. The Song Remains the Same, and Europe 72 by the Dead. That's 5 discs of vinal! My next Zep was Led Zeppelin III. I thought someone was playing a joke on me. It sounded like the Chipmunks. So I've always liked Robert's later voice more.
🌠duude this is gonna b good ..THEIR ALWAYS GOOD !
Ouch! There’s still a week to go! 🥺
I know Marcia, but i promise, it will be worth the wait, i've learned A LOT from this research process.
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories
I’m sure the wait will be worth it, the quality of “JCM Productions” never disappoints 😊
I have learned a lot myself doing the research. This is what keeps me going, keep the ability to be surprised by life, one must never lose that! I wish you a great week!
I hope you also do a 1973 MGS series. I know its basically the same thing, but there's probably a lot more to the story.
I will talk about the context and recordings so technically it will be covered!
It's amazing the Robert Plant then as opposed to now.
Similar with Gene and Paul.
Not in reference to their look change as they mature but their mindsets and approach.
We were all not meant to live forever..
Theres no such thing as too much swagger
Robert's career since 2002 is a milestone, one after the other, he's really found himself and i respect him for it!
Can’t wait JCM! I purchased this film on HD DVD which was the highest quality available at the time in 2006-07. I was watching it last week on my HD-DVD player. I did not know JPJ had a wig on in that scene 😂😂😂😂 No wonder his hair looked fucking weird 🤣
Oh man once you see the bits and pieces of how this was made...you won't be able to see that movie the same LOL. Glad you have it on HD DVD, it's an iconic film worth owrning!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Cool I can’t wait. Jimmy should get help from Peter Jackson and rerelease this iconic concerts in 4k and remixed the audio. Earls Court, Seattle, Knebworth and also see if they come the Pontiac Silverdome footage.
I think they could definitely do that, create the Ultimate movie. Problem is, look at the stats. When Queen becomes one of the most popular classic rock bands on streaming...we got a problem haja. I respect them of course, but big audiences now drift apart from the Cosmic Energy...lol
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories We need Zeppelin back on the mainstream for sure 🤟🏼
The Robert Plant sword ⚔️ fight is the best! 😂
Most of the footage was shot at Shepperton Studios in 1974, the actual MSG footage was too disjointed to use.
You know your Zepp! Hope you enjoy the Doc!
Check out "LEDZEPNEWS" article called "Inside the filming of Led Zeppelin at Shepperton Studios: The Genesis of the project".
I thought most was MSG, and Shepperton was just to fill in the gaps. I guess we'll find out on the 27th!
@@tonydunn7857 A few things to look for. Every shot of Plant with "new" teeth, Jimmys longer hair, Jones' wig, every close up of Bonham-in particular, (where it had to be shot with a cameraman onstage, and then in the next cut, no cameraman onstage)...any "dolly" shot, virtually every shot where you do not see Pages fingers indicates Shepperton footage. In "Rock N Roll", and "Black Dog" alone probably 80% of all the shots are not from MSG. Also, look for "dudes" roadies and other people in the background, and bottles and things on the amps... It usually indicates original MSG footage...I used to think the same, but after closer inspection I would say at least 60% of the concert footage is "staged" and the "fantasy sequences" were an afterthought and "solution" to fill in the massive gaps of usable concert footage.
Will this tell us why everybody goes, "Yay!" Bash!?
It will! The Cosmic Video Editing :)
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Oh, I think we all ought to be pirates!
Hehehej but not ELP's Pirates off Works
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-StoriesNo, cause then Peter would leave us and we couldn't even get in the starting line!
No
👏 😮
I LOVE Zep. But Floyds live in pompeii was better
I absolutely love Live at Pompeii!
And WIGS!...Yes, and gained weight, and fixed teeth, and bad "miming", and bad continuity, and not-quite-state-of-the-art special effects. That said, I have still seen it 100 times...but yeh, I had to do some fairly agile "mental gymnastics" to ignore the RIDICULOUS wig that JPJ wears...I mean...LZ was not exactly "poor" but somehow, they couldnt find it in their budget to do better than that atrocity. I am sure "LED WALLET" had something to do with the mediocre production values. ( My personal fave absurd scene is Plants boat moving at about 20 knots with no motor or sail!"...I guess his vessel was propelled by his massive EGO. Im sure this will be a good one JCM, looking forward to it.
Haha Robert's boat i know, no motor or sail, great catch there. Working this series has been QUITE the challenge, it has so much sentimental value to me....i am doing my best!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Looking forward to it. Tho once again, YT is deleting my comments...for no reason. It is really strange, as my comments contain absolutely nothing objectionable. I have had 3 comments vanish. We will see if this one gets deleted as well.
Maybe YT deletes if out of a curse word or something like that. I can hereby confirm your last message is showing up!
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories this is the comment that was deleted 3 times (it was finally "allowed" tho...) "Check out "LEDZEPNEWS" article called "Inside the filming of Led Zeppelin at Shepperton Studios: The Genesis of the project".....that comment was deleted!!! three times!!!
You rented it … you controlled it … so long as there is another nickel to be drained by exploiting Led Zeppelin it’s great … 😂
@@Twotontessie this movie rocks in ways our forefathers were very used to!
" 'ya silly c$nt! With the f*ckin' stars and stripes behind it"...he was truly one of a kind. I cnanot wait for this video, JCM! Keep up the incredible work.
You need a new narrator.
I am the only one i know :)
Bring it on home JCM! Looking forward to this one....as with all of your content.
Let's get ready to go back to 1973 Thomas!
