    Isn't the goal of the consoliation to correct the misinformation or lack of information that occured to us Gen Xr's where they did not tell us about the income based repayment plans and severe forebearance steering?

    10:55 I have loans from when I was in school 20 years ago along with several parent plus loans for my three children, some as recent as 2020. I consolidated all of them together last month and received a statement that gives me 10 days to decide which plan to choose or make any changes. They are all set to 6.8% for 25 years with different monthly payments (choices are standard/graduated/extended fixed and extended graduated) depending on how much interest I want to pay back. My question is, is this my final payment schedule? Or am i now in that waiting period to see if I get any credit for the payments I made over the years? Some of my oldest loans are more than 20 years old ( with 3 children in college i had many years of forbearance where the interest grew significantly while i wasn’t making payments) Some of these old loans have only a few thousand left. I have no idea what to expect. Was this a good idea to consolidate or should I separate these old ones from my Parent plus loans? Thank you for any help. This shouldn’t be so hard!

    Yo get the PPL double consolidation loop hole is it correct that I need to apply by paper application and not consolidate online?

    Thank you so much for all you do. I had an excellent experience with my Student Loan Planner consultation for my own school loans. It was worth every penny!! Question: My son has just finished up the school year but has decided he is going to take a "break" from school without getting his undergraduate degree. He has $12,500 in subsidized loans and $6,000 in unsubsidized loans. What would you recommend he do? Consolidate all with IDR? He will be working but I don't think he'll be making a lot...not sure how to advise him (especially since it's after April 30th). I've been following in reference to my PLUS loans for him, but didn't know until now that he would need advice about his own loans. Thank you!!

      I forgot to mention that all of his loans are held with the Dept of Ed, not private. Thanks!

    I noticed that when I was consolidating, there was an option to do standard repayment for 20 years instead of 10. That made my payment extremely low. If I’m going for PSLF, can I still be on a standard repayment?

    I missed the deadline thanks to the "help" I never received from my loan service provider. What can I do?

    I sent in the paperwork to do the double loop home for my PPL’s. Sadly they didn’t get that completed before the April 30th deadline. I was told the new loan will be generated in 6 more days. Now that the April 30th deadline has passed I’m not sure what benefit I can access?

      Just clarifying that you have until July 2025 for the parent plus double consolidation loophole

    Hi, I’m currently in PSLF with about ten $760 payments left before forgiveness. I consolidated my loans before the PSLF deadline.
    1. If I understand correctly, if I have the right kind of consolidation loan, I don’t need to do anything (it’s automatic)to apply for the IDR waiver?
    2. I have about four or five years of eligible payments wheee my employment wasn’t nonprofit. So I can’t use those years under PSLF
    3. So the question is if I get those payments qualified via IDR, will those qualified payments count for PSLF (10 year forgiveness) or will they only count for IDR (20 or 25 ur forgiveness)?

    • @StudentLoanPlanner
      @StudentLoanPlanner  Месяц назад

      1. That's correct. If you have a Direct Consolidated Loan, then you do not have to do anything.
      2. Correct. If you weren't working for a qualifying employer for at least 30 hours/week, then those payments do not count toward PSLF.
      3. If you weren't working for a qualifying employer it will not count for PSLF. However, it will count for IDR forgiveness. That said, it sounds like you are very close to earning PSLF (10 more $760 payments remaining), so this is the best path to continue pursuing.

      Hey bro ... I'm not a public service employee.. I work for instacart currently and haven't made a single payment. Should I still try to do the consultation? I got only 2 loans from Mohela totaling about 7K right now.. what Should I do you think?@@StudentLoanPlanner

      @@StudentLoanPlanner@StudentLoanPlanner Thank you, sir, for the comprehensive response. I bought a full consult with your firm just before the PSLF deadline. Best money I ever spent. There is a possibility I may actually be at 20 years for IDR. I'm about two payments behind on my Mohela PSLF payments (the $760). Any logic in applying for a forbearance with Mohela, under the auspice that I think I may be at the 20 year mark for IDR (even though the IDR payment count may not be released until later)?
