    You are doing the groundwork to make Plasticity the next Alias Autostudio. Such usability developments are very important because that brings you loyal and satisfied users. Those users will then "supply" you with even more useful feature requests. Please keep up this fantastic work!

      Still a long way to go before this is the new Alias. But once he implements powerful individual CV control and bezier surfaces (and ways to control them), I’m interested.

      @@hakanhell Sure, it's not ready just yet. But: in the time since I'm using Alias (over 30 years now 😯 ... old man 🥴) there were no real contender to Alias.
      The speed at which Plasticity is evolving and also the direction of the development gives me hope that in 2-3 years it could become a real Alias alternative. As you wrote, a powerful CV manipulation toolset like Alias is essential. Also the creation and handling of trimmed edges must be bulletproof. You need some easy and reliable surface creation tools especially for free form surfaces (with proper continuity) and that should be enough for the start. Many of the functions that Alias offers (examining surfaces, checking package conformity, etc.) can be done with Blender. Blender Bridge is a marvelous tool for that.

    Finally found in a search the additional work needed to make Radial Menus function. Would NEVER have guessed all that was needed to make these work as the info in this vid made it look like the new feature was actually part of the update with an assigned K 'Z' ... Maybe I will try it sometime after i go through the how-to. I Love the new features, what I can use or find about them. A good upgrade for sure. Just the typical frustrations trying to even upgrade, let alone find and learn the actual how-to's.
    Going to ask again, PLEASE build in an update feature instead of us having to hunt for news, and then another hunt for links; then the guessing game of which of the 10 apps listed are the right one for us. Many of us are NOT programmers or devs. ANY aide provided in the extensive learning curve, which is 70% guess work and forum/video searches... ug, ANY help in training is MUCH appreciated.
    Thank you for the hard work. Enjoying what I can do. Best software of its type, hands down.

    You, sir, are truly amazing. I sing the praises of Plasticity to my students all the time. By far, the best hard surface modelling program I've ever used, and it seems to be improving at a rapid rate.
    I can't believe how long it took for someone to realize that CAD modelling is great, but the UI and user experience in CAD software is never as friendly and conducive to creating as a typical DCC app. You bridging the best of both worlds into Plasticity is genius and has been something I've been asking for, for years. And now, there's an actual literal bridge between the software. Well done!

    The moving of edges where it retains planarity. Bravo. That is great to see most softwares I've used can't do that. The new fillet type is also great.
    Something I'd like to see is copy paste feature of bringing vectors from illustrator and others directly into Plasticity. Currently I run them through Rhino to put them into Plasticity so would be cool to be able to skip that.

  • @asd-fw7yb
    @asd-fw7yb 10 месяцев назад +1

    Now moving the edges in all directions is very good - GREAT! . but we hope that with the next version of "Plasticity" it will be possible to move even vertex of solids. Besides, we really need cooperation with "SPACE MOUSE". Next - the "Z" axis should have an on and off function because it often simply interferes with the design, and the on and off icon should be placed next to the "perspektive" icon. Moreover, after drawing a drawing in a solid or plane, the sketch itself should be automatically turned off because it causes some confusion in the project. and besides, it is a great program for designing and implementing concepts. I don't regret buying it and I recommend it to all designers.

    This looks so great. I think the biggest thing for me is the topology on export being a little tricky to deal with. I've yet to dive into these Blender integration features which look very promising, but I'm still wondering about what technical limitations there are with getting really clean geo when exporting. The results are totally usable and quite nice for concepting and rendering within DCCs, but not always at a level that seems required for certain applications like gaming. Maybe I just don't understand the workflow from Plasticity to a videogame asset well enough.

    Sometimes I use ctrl+R to create cuts to solve certain difficult fillets. I also usually split on surface edges. The solution is not always correct and I need to either delete the cutting lines (Ctrl+R) or some split that I have done previously (or that occurs automatically due to topological necessity. I can create or it create these split edges, but how do I eliminate them when I have too many split edges that cause errors in a loft or patch?

For some reason in 1.3 I don't see a way to do this anymore. I've tried importing from MOI and Fusion with similar results.
