Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.

Jerron, that is fantastic! I remember when you were my theory student at LACES years ago. All the other kids were into Pop tunes and you already knew you wanted to play the blues and did, even then. You have an old, wise soul and I am so pleased to see you have followed your muse. Your mom used to tell me that she was worried that you didn't pay enough attention to your school work. I told her to have a son with a passion like yours is a huge blessing. I'm sure you finally convinced her, because you are the real deal and she need not have worried. Ricky Washington told me you were opening up for Kamasi on tour. Keep on keeping on, son; you have a brilliant gift which will just keep on unfolding. Bravo! Mr. Haller
a true teacher... 👍.... and I remember every face... of every man who put me here... any day now... any day now... I shall be released
Richard Feynman is credited with the idea that we learn more when we teach.... I think it's true... how bout you?
I just had the great pleasure of a concert in Edinburgh this evening. So good he didn't do his school homework! His music gives great pleasure to many, what can be better than that?
❤❤❤
I really loved watching that happy man, playing guitar and singing. we need more of that kind of happy people, he made my day !
Became aware of this fine artist through the American Epic series. What a talent, what a joy.
It is one thing to play an instrument and cover a song it becomes something else when you put your heart and soul in to it like this fine young man!!
I got a chance to see Jerron in New Orleans. The man is an extremely talented multi instrumentalist and a consummate entertainer
Why am I just learning of Blind Boy Paxton? I love all the old blues.
I see this was 7 years ago. I can't believe I found playing for Change 2-3 months ago. It is the greatest site I have come across especially when you see musicians from all over the world performing together. Even so this was still a wonderful musical performance by one performer. Keep up the great work!!!
Here is a man who loves his music! His enthusiasm is quite contagious. A good tune well played.
Thanks
Enjoy "Candy Man Blues" performed live outside by our Musician of the Week, "Blind Boy" Paxton!

Hard to comprehend he was born in 1989.
He's definitely taken the torch from the greats that have come before him and runs with it beautifully.

Jerron Paxton does a great thing preserving the old time blues.

very traditional blues tune like something from the 30'th.What a great artist!
hey do you know the writer or if it has been recorded by anyone else along the way? Such a great tune, I thought it was Mississippi John Hurts song at first but its not.

Help Jerron get his own CD on iTunes please!!! He deserves to have his own work out there.

Timeless songs make you smile! Enjoy Blind Boy Paxton's version of “Candy Man Blues” which was first recorded almost 90 years ago by Mississippi John Hurt. The music lives on from generation to generation.
He's so talented with the guitar:)
Mehr davon ,spitze!
very lovely old country song
Playing For Change Fantastic ! A very nice version ...Thank you !
Playing For Change This is the Blind Rev. Gary Davis “Candy Man Blues”. Mississippi John Hurt's "Candy Man" is a different song altogether.
This is amazing. No other words for it. I'm speechless.
So much soul dripping off those fingers! I am hooked , am I in love!
It would make me sad if music like this disappeared. I love music, all types...they're all important. I love this, awesome ;D
I love this old music so much. Great to see such a young man playing this style. His picking truly is out of sight but I think what I love the most about watching his videos is to see how much he enjoys playing. Please come to Berlin one day, will ya? x

Very nice. The description seems wrong though. This is Candyman by Reverend Gary Davis. Mississippi John Hurt's Candyman is another tune entirely.

Wow, sweet piedmont blues from L.A. who would have thunk it!

Jerron, I was at the FPR when you played that weekend. Sounding great here! I think you had just received this parlor beauty at the ranch and we checked it out at dinner. Play on!
Este é, sem dúvida, o melhor projeto social que conheço. Sou um educador e, como tal, reconheço como a música pode transformar as pessoas.

Muito Bom! Parabéns!
According to the Reverend Gary Davis as told to us through Roy Book Binder, Dave Van Ronk and others, Rev Davis first heard this song in 1905, certainly it (the song) was around much earlier than MJH's recording-some 20 + years later.
Yes!
