@@darkpinkgirl6684 I fail to see how a character explaining exactly what is happening on screen in excruciating detail with absolutely nothing to spice it up is entertaining lmao
I've said it once and I'll say it again: If JJBA didn't have these internal dialogues and other characters saying the obvious, each part would be about 12 episodes at most.
Probably less as the mid fight dialogue takes up about 20% of a normal episode and god knows how much of a full fight episode (I'm pretty sure the Polnareff vs Vanilla Ice fight was 80% dialogue)

Everytime Speedwagon is supposed to speak you should have cut to a silent Speedwagon holding in the commentary, getting more red and red until he breaks and does all commentaries at once
While it is rather comedic, I think the mid-fight commentary offers more Bizarre levels to Jojo! Just feels right. A fight as simple as this feels… well, simple… But, also puts clear how strong Jonathan had grown
Jonathan's look at the end of the fight always killed me,sometimes it's hard to write a way for interactions like this to exist, couldve just been him icing DIO but no,they decided to Show him looking regretful, and I think that isnt shown in other shows enough. Not many times you see the mc show character through victory, especially when it seems like a defeat to them
Phantom Blood is about Jonathan's and Dio's relationship and it's more apparent in the manga but it also emphasizes how important Jonathan's youth (or childhood) was to him (the original title for Part 1 used to be "Jonathan Joestar: His Youth" not to mention one of the titles in the chapters for Part 1 is called "My Youth with Dio"). Speedwagon even tells Poco that Jonathan cried after defeating Dio because "his youth was a youth with Dio". Dio is also affected by the years they grew up together and tells Jonathan he sent his minions to kill him because he did not want to kill Jonathan himself because they grew up together. He then admits that it was a weakness he had that he needed to overcome. It's why Jonathan mentions in the end that they had a "bizarre friendship" because they clearly developed some sort of soft spot for each other but in the end they were fated to be in opposing sides and Dio is a self-serving monster that only cares about his ambitions.
You gotta give props to Araki's writing and his animation teams here. Whenever you watch a Jojo fight where all you hear are the words actually verbally exchanged, see the actions being done, even when in real time, they make perfect sense (within the setting). Also this really REALLY sells just how horrifying a vampire can be. Also ALSO, I think the stingy eye beam sound effect used here is the one from Chastlevania: SOTN. If it is, that is a beautiful touch. I mean, just look at the chastle shadow when we see the eye beam in the sky! It has to be!
Love how Dio, getting cut in half was like “yeah this is fine I’ll let him continue” But as soon as it was gonna cut his dick he was like “WOAH ok that’s enough”
Personally i think if Jonathan reached his lower part he would be evenly split falling on ground where he can't counter attack accordingly maybe that's why
Honestly I like the commentary in between cuz I feel like it's very much the style of it but also feel like it pumps it up like commentators at like sports games

Probably not the right place to go into high detail, but since you added the sound byte, one thing that always bothered me about Dio's rhetoric is this idea that a single human would so totally outclass a monkey For starters it depends of the classification. If you're talking Ace Ventura and his pet Spike, I suppose you could trap it like any other rodent. But in a scenario where you are pitted against a rodent in the blink of an eye (which is kind of how DIO sets up his victims) the instance is going to involve some very animal behaviors from both sides. The person trying to identify what he's up against, and the rodent trying to get the hell out of dodge Even if he meant the less evolved simian dynamic which resembles us as sapiens sapiens, the bonobo- in terms of raw strength, it has us beat. A close quarters cage match, there are just too many opportunities for it to mame you, geeking off of its adrenaline Then comes the psychological element. The stigma of the animal you're dealing with, it compels us to identify with its traits. This is why we have a compulsory instinct to make sounds when entreating pets. Your limbic brain can only manage the instance of what's before it. Invariably becoming a reduction of that interaction. You're not going to try and have a high brow intellectual discord with a wild dog Now flip that around. From the animal's perspective, you appear as a series of shades or smells to them. I like the visual of Frodo getting stabbed by one of the fallen kings in the outer dimension. In _their_ limbic system its a matter of fight or flight, friendly or no, provision or no. And they zoom in depending on what degree of fixation they have towards you. An ape looking up at a person standing upright might experience a bit of intimidation, but would EASILY tear off a finger when pushed I think Dio's capacity to change his temperature at will is pretty intelligent by matter of physical expression. However if the only merit of his being is what he can do offensively, there isn't much significance to warrant nature It's like saying the only value to a human's intellect is his ability to fashion objects and not his interplay between several ideas. Steelworker, carpenter, upholstery designer. Why does the earth need these things when its going to grow plants wildly and hurl tornadoes at us regardless? Why does Straizo need exceptional grip strength if his only purpose for having it is to rip out people's teeth That seems hardly descriptive of what splendor a god should have
