Military veteran moves back home to Central Texas after 14 years, surprises family at party

A local family has everyone together for good for the first time in 14 years after their daughter left the Midway area in 2010 to enlist in the Marines.
And Thursday, to celebrate a long anticipated homecoming, they threw a surprise party for the family to officially reunite.
It was a homecoming more than a decade in the making and the family says the fact that they are together for good is still so surreal.
“To have all of our girls here and to have all of their feet underneath the table and be with family. That’s the greatest gift God could give, I think,” says Harvie and Jana Welch, whose daughter Allyssa left the Central Texas area 14 years ago.
