Dude,,,, I though I had gear issues,,,, you are a whole new level I have never seen before,,,, awesome video with unlimited options and configurations ,,,, you mentioned Denali's nails were not an issue,,, but did you check Sarah's? lol..... lots of fun and great edutainment. Thanks ( and no geese were harmed during this video making)
This video should be titled "gear geek totally geeks out on gear". Keep on doing what what you do sintax77.
I have been looking to upgrade from my ENO entry level hammock system. It was between this and a blackbird XLT. This video sold me on the chameleon! I drove the 45 minutes to Dutch's shop and he showed me around himself. He took the time to setup the whole system in his warehouse for me. I'm still new at this game and learned so much from talking to him. I setup my system tonight and really love everything about it. So glad I saw this video when I did. Thanks!
March 28 2019, so you had it for almost 10 months. Any upgrades since you got it?
Always a treat to have Sara and Denali along. They are a definite plus to the already great videos.
I'm new to your channel, a new Chameleon owner but I've been hammock camping for a few years.
Great videos so far & you and your wife are too cute together.
Love this video! Hysterical! RUclips wants more Sara 🤣🤣
Note - Denali's nails are pretty worn down, so we took the chance with him hopping in our Hexon 1.6 Chameleon hammock for the video. I wouldn't officially recommend it with a lighter fabric like this though. Particularly with the how much nail sharpness & weight can vary from dog to dog.
Oh, and Sara was totally laying the wrong way during our asym demonstration, haha. ;)
One could always put booties or socks on their furry friends before then bed down......
As I was looking for options for the dawg... I came across a company called Cave Creek Hammock that makes what they call the "Pet Palace" its a bug net that goes over your hammock and has a floor. Weighs about 23oz. ( which the dog can carry). squareup.com/store/cave-creek-hammock/item/pet-palace Little pricey, but might be worth it to get out of a tenting situation and get more hammock camping in.
At least you have some green grass! Our snow finally melted in our yard yesterday up in northern MI. Last fall when I purchased a new hammock it was between the Chameleon and Dream Hammock. I picked the Darien Dream Hammock for weight savings, but I'll still give Dutch 2 thumbs up for the Chameleon. Great Review!
Nice! Hope it keeps warming up for you up there.
Any future plans for Michigan? Long boring drive, but it's worth it in the U.P. Especially at Pictured Rocks
Excellent video that covers it all, so far that is. Dutch's mind is always clicking, so I'm sure there will be more to come.
Nice stuff and a great video. I’m in the market for a new hammock this year and this is a top contender. Dutch needs more of this type of marketing.
Always loved the idea of this modular system, seems pretty geniusimple!
Been seeing alot of good vids about the chameleon hammock. Might have to go Dutch for my next one. Love all your vids, very fun to watch.
Thanks, Shane. They're worth looking into, for sure. I've been a fan of his innovations since 2012 or so - just about my entire backpacking career actually :o
wow that was detailed product review and demo.... better than other people videos
Awesome! Love your videos & your dog 😁😎
I love your videos. You give very reliable opinions.
I was going for a walk this afternoon and thought, hey, it should be about time for a new Sintax vid...
Solid intuition right there ;)
What a fun video! you guys are great together with Denali!! Great info too :)
When I ordered my first hammock from Dutch I asked what fabric was best for my dogs nails. His first recommendation was the dobby fabric but I didn’t like the colors. So his next choice was the 1.6 argon. So far no rips or tears. I’ve had both hammocks in the 1.6. I also ordered a quilt liner so I could put my top quilts inside it to protect them from my dogs nails and dirt. It is also made from the argon.
I ordered a chameleon and over cover to replace my Hennessy. Great video. Thanks
Cloud71 to Sara's rescue! In a calming blue.
Fantastic overview. Thank you!
BEST VIDEO YET BRO!!! ...WE ALL HERE AT HOME ENJOYED WATCHING A MUCH CLEARER UNDERSTANDING & BREAKDOWN DISPLAY ON THE Ametrical&symmetrical SETUPS. THANK YOU BOTH AND KEEP MAKING MORE GREAT&HELPFUL VIDEOS👍⛺
nice video i have the eno hammock and tarp in camo and i use as a stealth camping setup.
i wish it had a top cover
You could always throw a winter sock on it at least. Not quite as tailored looking, but fits any hammock and is actually warmer than a top cover.
if it gets to cold i go to ground and tent it
Love your content. Great videos.
Can you zip bugnet AND over cover at the same time? Thank you! Butch
Your marriage is 100% the best part of this video.
Can you use the pullouts on 1 side to compensate that slack (bug net on face) that way it will look nice a taut?
Hi Sean & Sara, what is your current favorite hammock setup?
Great product review! Thanks for the video.
I have the same color chameleon and the same color topcover! Great minds think alike😊
I know that park! I go there to hammock all the time
what is distance between trees that you aim for?
Thanks for the info. As always stay safe.
These Philly accents are hilarious. Reminds me of home.
Do you like the Chameleon or the Blackbird XLC more?
I'm a strictly a side sleeper, do you have any issues laying on your side with that 1.6? Also, how do you think it stacks up against the Darien in terms of comfort? Thanks
I sleep on my side more often than not in hammocks, and I sleep great with the 1.6. I think a lot of the comfort factor comes from the fabric thow & length just as much as design - my Darien is great, but it's only 10' and made with a stretchier 1.0 fabric. I've found 10.5' to 11' to be better for me, especially with side sleeping. To be fair, both are excellent well designed hammocks.
Dogs hate Dutchwear Gear. At the very very least, my dog does. But shes got a labrador spirit about the whole thing. Let's go!
Love the channel! You’ve help me spend sooo much $$. Have you ever looked into Michigan for a trip?
Haha, my apologies! I have some Michigan spots and info bookmarked for when the opportunity arises. It's on the short list!
sintax77 good to hear! I just moved up here from Ohio and have been researching as well. I'll keep an eye on the channel to see where you end up. Safe travels as always.!
Bob really wants you to come to Michigan! Don't disappoint Uptrail 71!
The 1.6 WILL rip from dog nails.. I was pretty bummed at how easy mine ripped..
That's a bummer, indeed. To be honest, I really try to avoid it, but made a sacrifice for the video. If I was going to really make a habit of it, maybe a double layer Hexon 2.4?
Dutch made that cheeseburger print just for you lol. Seriously who would get that haha
"Gimme my pet microphone"
I made a single-layer hammock from the 1.9 Dobby material. It seems to be some pretty tough material. We have spent 4 nights in it so far (we meaning the dog and I; she is about 40 pounds). I like that it does not stretch as much as other material and is very comfortable for both of us. So, maybe a single layer of the 2.4 Hexon would work.
Yeah, the colors definitely do not rock. I used the olive color.
Please do some keto cooking for backpackers!!
Hilarious! Literally while I am watching this, the Cheeseburger shirt arrived. A well coordinated Sintax assault.....
Nice! 😀😎
Actually you may want your head end a little lower than the foot end.
nice
👍🏼
There comes a point where too many options are just a pain to manage. I have chosen to keep my trusty Hennessy hammock. I may go Dreamhammock for something lighter, but using mine; even with a net, hasn’t proven to be a problem for any configuration yet.
Hit!
I can respect that. I love our Chameleons, but for down and dirty solos, if I was pressed to make one choice - I would grab my Dutchware Half-Wit with cinch buckles. Dead simple, light, no real options. Throw it in the pack and roll. I like the Dreamhammock Darien as well. That thing was super light, but unfortunately, they discontinued the single layer 1.0 fabric option before I ever had a chance to try it in my preferred 11' length.
sintax77 The first thing I did to my Hennessy’s was convert them to cinch buckles. I am not messing with knots. 😬
Next time I guess you need to bring 2 microphones..... When you gave yours to Sarah in the hammock, it was very hard to hear you, especially when you're moving away....
Love Dutch, but the price on this is outrageous.
What do you recommend for a beginner hanger who doesn't want to upgrade within a year once I'm fully hooked on hammock camping? Midwest, so I'll need a bug net.
1:43 why are you married dude, like why
The word you are looking for is “trapezoidal”.
Bad Dog!
That thing has more zippers than Michael Jacksons jacket
Standard configuration comes with a hot blonde? I'll take 20 please.
Sarah going to keep the dog she going to let you go
