That was very nice of him to explain the system because I've always had those questions on how it works. He was very informative. Leaned some things. Thank's for sharing!
Hi Simona, I recently found your channel and am loving❤️ the updates on the "barndominium". I also appreciate how the inspector took the time to explain everything to you pretty much step-by-step on what he was looking for and how the system worked.
Hi! ❤🎉😊 The inspector was very nice and patient to help educate you on how septic systems work and to be acresponsible owner of it. God sent him to you and blessed you with the knowledge of quality septic care!
Hi Simone, I really appreciate your content. My husband and I bought some land in Northern California and plan to build next year. Videos like yours are so helpful. Also, your inspector was incredibly generous with his knowledge and willingness to be filmed. I’m grateful for your video and the information you captured. Thank you!
I used to be in the septic business. My husband was in it for way longer than I so he was extremely knowledgeable. He said to pump every 4 to 6 years, depending on how many people are in the house. So I recommend because of the cost of getting a pump do it every four years. Do not dump. Grease down the drain. Wipe out your pans so you’re not clogging up Your Leitchfield with grease. So that’s the most important thing because that can destroy a Leitchfield, which is where the secondary gray water went into it to go into the ground and get saturated with Greece. You’ve run your system, so do not worse the grease down the drain not just clogging up the drain can clog up your Leitchfield. He was very informative for you. That was a good thing. And always make sure who’s ever pumping when it’s time make sure you see them open up both ends and they’re checking that filter. Some companies just wanna open up the one side pump out the liquids and they never pump out the solid so always make sure they’re doing both sides and you check and see that they’re both empty don’t trust Some of these drivers cause they will skimp on what they’re supposed to do and then you’re gonna have problems. The paperwork he gave you to say where the tank is hanging it in a closet. I like where your hot water heater is or something so they will always be able to find the instructions where to find that septic. If they have trouble finding the septic where they have to go do a bunch of digging, that’s going to cost you a whole lot of money if they know exactly where it is, then it’s gonna save you a lot of money. So make sure you do not lose that piece of paper and my husband used to tell everybody just tape it or put it somehow that it does not get lost. Put it in a sleeve so the paperwork stays nice so when it does get pumped, you can say this is where it is. I didn’t have GPS to say where things were in the old days we had another device that we would flush down the toilet and we could trace that which was quite expensive also because that little transmitter would be lost in the septic and it would be hard to get it out so that was another cost to the customer if they didn’t know where it was at. So as a company owner at one time that pump septic and out houses mind you for many many years. And my husband did it. I don’t know 30 years prior to me, talking him to go back into the toilet business. Then we went back into the septic business, so he was well versed in all of this on how everything worked. He has also installed a number of septic and Leitchfield in his lifetime. So praise the Lord you got that going now you’re gonna be able to get somebathroom done in there some showers and some sinks going so praise the Lord
Just fyi: it would be good to mark tank and leach field somehow, since it can be damaged when driven over. Also our septic guys charge an extra $100 for digging up the lids each time they pump, we installed risers ...
I have more videos, but RUclips is taking over a week to post one of my videos that’s why they’re coming so slow. I’m so sorry. I wish I knew how to fix it.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾♥️
Nice inspector, took the time to explain things, and it was great how he asked if you understood what he was saying as he explained stuff. I think if you are super careful about what you put down the drain, and just two people most of the time, you might be totally okay with only pumping every 3-5 years (if you look online, you will see that time interval commonly given for how often they should be pumped). Two years isn't a bad recommendation though because it would keep a system working perfectly and he's probably assuming that most people aren't going to be perfect with what they put down the drain, so he's probably erring on the side of caution a bit when suggesting having it pumped every 2 years. Congrats on the pass. I know it can be a bit of a pain to think of the ongoing cost of maintenance, but just bear in mind, if you live in a city and are connected to the city sewer, they normally have a monthly service fee just to have your sewer and water connection, so over time, your septic system will cost about the same or less than being connected to your typical municipal sewer system. We're talking like 10-15 years until you "break even." I just think with a septic system you need to be a lot more mindful about what you put down the drain, especially when it comes to chemicals or stuff that isn't going to biodegrade.
Congratulations 🎊 on passing inspection. Everything is coming along great. Will the bath & shower be the first room you get sectioned off & completed for comfort purpose? Great Inspector. I Saw a documentary on how sewage water is cleaned & recycled for continuous use. YUCK 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Great video love my septic 101 lesson 😂. I have been looking at some land, so this really gives me something to think about. Nice, he took the time to explain he explained the way my dad explains things, pictures, and all lol
Pretty sure Mr Guthrie has a pretty good track record on installs. The less trips to your place the better for him and for all. His experience makes it look somewhat simple
Super Congrats to you both! What a relief. And just one more step closer to living off grid. Your inspector was very informative. I have to watch again with pen and note pad. But I'm happy for my friends!!!
Recent subbie and so missed the vlogs. I was so happy to see this notification. Also subbed to your daughters. Hopefully I can get my children to watch them. Love their boldness for Christ.
Hey Simona I like the Inspector for explaining everything to you. I don’t have one but I now know how it works. (Somewhat 😂) so always drink bottled water
Another excellent video on your new septic system. The inspector was very professional and I'm that he agree to be on camera. I definitely learned more about how these systems work. We need more video from you! Take care and God Bless. 💕🙏🏾💐
I so enjoyed the video. Hopefully my house goes up for sale in 3 to 4 weeks and I'll be shopping for land. It's amazing, your videos have taught me so much on what to expect building a barndominium. I really, really appreciate you. Thank you, jules ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow thank you for sharing. Congratulations on everything coming together so awesome. You decorated so beautiful. Wow I was trying to get an understanding of how the septic works also. He shared and gave a lot of knowledge. So do you also have to have a well installed for your water? I will listen again to get an understanding of the process of the black dome that he was explaining at the end. That part wasn't clear.
Hi Simona 👋 👋 👋 👋 I hope you remember me. If not, i understand. "It's been a while now" I've had a lot going on in my life that i don't wanna depress you with I love your knew found home it's soooo beautiful everything is coming together, and I'm sure it's gonna look amazingly gorgeous when finished.... God bless ❤ 🙏see you in the next video.... 😊❤
I would get the risers….When they come clean it out they just pull the lid off the riser…instead of digging up the dirt to find it…I will be getting risers
Wonderful video, this great information to know. Could there be a land marker or something to indicate where the septic tank will sit? Thanks for sharing 💞💞...
Second thing I didn’t tell you if you let it go, you can destroy your own Leitchfield if you don’t have it pumped period periodically as he said that I recommend every 4 to 6 years, but to be on the safe side do it every four years. And save a little bit of money not having to do it every two years because you’re not gonna have 50 people living there really saturating the place. So you’re a blessed lady today
So all you need now is to research and plant the best types of plants in & around your system to help maintain a good running septic system & environment 😊☮️
My suggestion on a garden is goto a local farmers market and speak to those who grow stuff in the heat. I use sun screens on the top and sides of my raised bed.
Am I missing something? You have 1 pipe coming out of your building correct because I believe I only seen 1 drain hole in your floor? Is that a toilet? What about a sink drain or a shower drain? I hope you don’t have just 1 pipe for your entire build if so you are creating a money pit. How are going to get water as well? Also without electric none of it will work. Can you dig a well or will you have to get water shipped in and pumped? You’re such a sweet woman and have such an amazing drive, I commend you but if you don’t have other pipes you will need to cut the floor and add. My wife and I built something similar to you in Wisconsin our channel is called JEWONNY LIFE. I never built before but learned an invaluable amount of knowledge through the process. If you need some sound advice I can help let me know.
Man youre lucky. That inspector gave you a class on how a septic system works. I've been reading up on this cause I got a new system put in. Luckily I only played $3900.00 for the whole system. Would you mine telling me what they charged you? Best wishes. Youre awesome.
I said WOW at the same time you did. He's very knowledgeable and thorough. How exciting. Every little step is a celebration.
He gave an excellent explanation as to how those septic systems work.
Simplified it so not to confuse the consumer.

I’m wondering if your going to have a professional landscaper come out and to grow food, are you going to use planter boxes.
Raised garden beds. I will attempt to do everything myself as much as possible at least♥️
