I've watched a few of your vlogs now & I am impressed to hear that you have come here with a completely open mind. Your attitude is in fact more relaxed, curious & non-judgmental than a lot of Australians. You are like a breath of fresh air. Please don't change.
Wow 2000 subscribers that is amazing, congratulations 🎉 The tent boxing looked like a true unique experience, I didn’t know about that. You guys really embraced the fun, well done.
My grandfather and his brother were travelling tent boxers in shamans tent back in the day and I've always wondered what it would be like. Didn't know it was still a thing so thank you for the awesome watch. I'm pretty sure it was bare knuckle back then. Congrats on the 2000🎉
Was up early today, 4:30am... Congratz on the 2k Love scorched peanut bars, vovo's are a 50/50, alot of people don't like the soft biscuit; Same with cherry ripes (the amount of people i've seen eat coconut that hate coconut and/or cherries...)
@@EatVentureVlog Yeah it's a weird texture, i like the taste, though haven't had one in 10+ years (used to have more and better jam). They went away years ago, but the workers at BHP (Now Bluescope - Wollongong NSW - Went on strike, Shrugs). I'm more of an Arnotts Mint Slice bloke ( i'll take Mint Slice over a Tim Tam any day, still like TT's alot, i like Penguins, LUV Hobnobs and digestives - Haven't seen them in years, C-19 shipping issues?...). Have a fantastic day mate; Had i hair cut yet? Can send you a red ribbon ;D
Scorched Peanut Bar's are the best. I use to eat them when I was a kid (61 now) but they disappeared for ages, but I'm seeing them all over the place again now days. Awesome traveling snacks 👍
Boxing tents were common until a few years ago. They were a part of the rural agricultural show circuit for decades. Fred Brophy is the most famous along with Jimmy Sharman. When I was a kid growing up in outback Qld, I used to sneak into the boxing tents for some entertainment. It was a great part of Aussie culture that is now disappearing due to political correctness and regulations. Another good source of entertainment was standing back 20 yards from the open air bars at rodeos like the Mt Isa Rodeo, and watch a few drunks get stuck into each other. There is a new Aussie film just out this year called 'Kid Snow'. It is set in the 1970s and is all about tent boxing culture. Worth watching to learn about Australian outback culture decades ago.
I am from rural New South, on the Murray and loved the boxing tents.Jimmy Sharmans pre fight show, the drum beating, selecting the challengers from the crowd and of course the rigged bouts Health laws finished the boxing tents.Fighters were not permitted to box for one month after being knocked out and the shows could not afford to carry fighters who could not fight.
I did a season with brophys as a young lad , must be 25 years ago at least now ,fred has always been a top bloke that you did not want to get on the wrong side of give you the shirt of his back but i tell you what that bloke even at his age now i reckon could still punch the false teeth out of an elephant
That's an awesome statement mate, so good to hear. 😊 sounds like a true Aussie legend.i bet it was a memory you'll never forget. We sometimes get experiences that we will never forget even if at the time we wonder why it's happening 😊I had a few experiences I'll never forget. A few just seemed surreal at the time😊but your part of an Australian folklore . The first time I heard of a boxing tent was seeing Bryan brown in the Shirlee. An Australian mini series where he made a living for a while in a boxing tent. My dad told me about Brophy's boxing tent. It seems like such an integral part of Australia's history. Thanks for the comment mate. It's nice when people are what they're cracked up to be😀. Hope you're going well mate. Best wishes from Brisbane
One of the more unique experiences you can have in Australia. And potentially something that will die out in our lifetime. Future generations won't believe you when you tell them about it.
I'm not a fan of Iced VoVo biscuits either. Yucky. Have you seen the movie The Castle? It's from the 1990s, but still manages to be very funny. I'm not sure how anyone from outside Australia would get it, but now you've been here a while I think you might enjoy it. It's always a bit risky to recommend a comedy because tastes differ (remember, some people think Iced VoVos are nice) but it's definitely an Aussie icon. It's even enjoyed by the sort of person who likes Iced VoVos.
Love the Castle! They should live in the burbs for a few more years before watching it maybe Definitely a movie that benefits from context of Aussie life
Great video guys, you have to experience these sort of things from the past because once they're gone, unfortunately it's forever. Look at old boy too, what a character. Time moves on but we shouldn't have to ditch things because they're old. The woke brigade are mostly to blame. Here in South Australia the Drive-in Movies were huge with I think 11 in Adelaide plus 3 or 4 regional ones. The last one sadly closed about 4 years ago. I saw d to many friends with small children, you must take them atleast once before its gone so they remember. Always take kids on a steam train too.
@@EatVentureVlog the Iced Vovos today aren't like they use to be. They use to be really good, but I personally wouldn't even bother with them now days. Like every thing else, they've changed the recipe or altered the ingredients, and just aren't even close to what they once use to be.
Ooh, your on the Bogan journey. Joe you've got the making of a Bogan. Nice moustache. Great hair length.(definitely no man bun) Now you just need to get into a barber for the trim above the ears. Get yourself a blue work singlet, a pair of footy shorts, preferably with a beer sponsor on them, and the obligatory thongs. If you really want to go all in, you'll need a ute too. Why don't you put the call out there and look for a Bogan long weekend. It would make a great vlog. You'd be immersing yourselves deep into Aussie culture. I suspect you would both enjoy it.
HAHAHA Not liking Iced VoVos is unAustralian and grounds for deportation. It's like saying you don't like koalas. 😂 I'm in Melbourne and daylight saving kicked in at 2am this morning so I am now 1 hour ahead of Qld time.
Can't argue, Kody. Iced Vovo is generally pretty overrated. When you have things like MonteCarlos and Tim tams as alternatives, why bother with Iced Vovo?!?
Point the camera in front of you when driving so we can see the scenery. Iced Vo Vo will not be liked by you. They have been around for at least 60 years. Australians like musk sticks. If you can't eat those you won't like Iced Vo Vos. Fred Brophy's boxing used to travel with the agricultural shows - like a county fair, and was a popular sideshow. At one time I believe women weren't allowed in, but times change.

😂😂 poor Kody, and poor old iced vo-vo 😂😂 it is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, and definitely not suitable for dunking in tea!

@@pv6304 i loved when i was a bit younger. 81 next month.
Lucky they took it easy on the locals. Good stuff.
Love an iced vovo. I think for a lot of Australians, it brings back childhood memories.
But given the choice, I too would prefer a tim tam.
Congrats 2K ❤
Thank you ❤️
